If one adores the book, may want to skip since loosely based with a few of the more grim scenarios... Viggo Mortensen's detail relates understanding of the character, the circumstances, & theme; delivering the most compelling performance I've seen in ages. Bleak sets exacting tone; thoughtful dialogue; fight between animal survival & humanity....it leaves the viewer moved...What an extraordinary work that was worth waiting for!

Some would say this is the near future for all of us. Circumstances in the world make this movie seem almost like a course in raw survival. The film is very understated which is very appropriate. Much better than a John Carpenter approach. A good selection of characters and room to disagree with the choices taken. Looks like good sequel potential.

Awesome story, good acting, probably one of Viggo's best movies i've ever seen.Its dark, violent, man eat man(litteraly!) now appocalyptic world.Survival 24/7.I've been waiting for a movie like this for a while.It kept me wondering what or who they were going to encounter next...food?Shelter?Help?Or groups of cannabel/thieves willing and wanting to kill a man and his beloved son.I was not dissapointed..

If you are the kind of person who goes to a movie simply to laugh and be entertained, The Road is not for you so save your money and go see It's Complicated. If, however, you can handle dark and difficult and complex charachter studies - it's definitely worth seeing. the relationship between the father and son was amazing and the design was to me a remarkable rendition of what the end of our world might be like.

I sat through the entire film, with the thought that it would lighten up. I was wrong. VERY slow, very depressing. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone that doesn't have excessive joy to throw away.
