A movie where some of the violence was toned down from the book... yet kept on the edge of your seat. The viewer was instantly apart of District 12 reaping, and the contrast to the Capitol's indulgent spectacle! I took a tons of TEENS and they loved it!! From the costumes, weapons, battles, to the hearthrobs (a credit to Hutcherson's acting ability--while he doesn't fit the Peeta look or brawn from the book-his heart for the character was spot on). Katniss was every bit of the independent threat featured.... and WOW roles by Lenny Kravitz, Donald Sutherland, and Woody Harrelson were terrific ADDs to this cast!
How much time will I not get back? I realize all our tweens have gone completely MAD with Bieber fever, yet didn't find it inspirational or challenging. I work with this next generation, I like having fun and contemporary music, yet Uggggh. Sure there is talent, but so what? A million others are talented...American Idol, all of it appears that FAME can occur in a moment. Hard work, education, ....what do we want to emphasize to our young? Like to see what happens in a decade, will we even know him?
Portman is the master as the "diva" ballerina, and this dark thriller involves intrigue, empathy, ...and so much more. Even if you don't like the dance, its crafted to keep you suspended throughout.
How long have we waited for the sequel? Can it be that the technology has finally caught up to the vision? If your a Sci Fi and Tron Fan, this will be the highlight of the Christmas viewing season. If not, might find elements slow or difficult to follow... still a wonderful ride!
Skeptical...how does it measure to the classic? Jeff Bridges pulls it off, Damon morphs into a TX ranger, yet the star is newcomer Hailee Steinfeld! More blood, grittier and nastier in the details; but the chemistry of the characters is present and believable. As "others" stated, the ending is anti-climatic, and the flow is disjointed at times--more laughs than the original. Yet how do you surpass John Wayne?
revenge from start to finish, maybe I need anger management class after this all out gunfest. Have to love the rock as the little brother who could......other than 1 moment of redemption, thugs killing thugs and why the $1 assassin? More ??? To redemption of a life????
mark wahlbergs passion has paid off on this journey, or should we say tribute to the real life massachusetts underdog...christian bale hits the crack addicted brother right on, yet not for the faint of heart! Brutal but vividly inspiring, no step ins or cgi, each blow hits the reality of the story
looking for something really different? This was qite the ride leaving the viewer inspired, grateful, and looking forward to the next challenge. Based on true life story and can't imagine a depiction more accurately portrayed..
know this weekend was all about harry potter, but this classic continues it journey, getting better with each installment! Don't miss (have to say still partial to the books).
Old tale with a great new spin! Kept a 2 yr old's attention with crazzzy characters and wonderful storyline, the adults were having as much fun...also kudos that there are now kids 3D glasses, no more fighting the fit. While typical bad guy turns good, the highlight of starting with recount of his own death was a nice touch...whether twilight or tangled, every woman wants someone to give their life for them!
