Panoramic scenery combined with an engagine story are the perfect ingredients for this delicious film. The only thing missing was the wine. The scenery was exquisite... the photography terrific... at times you could almost taste the wine! I have already recommended it to friends... Enjoy!

Wonderful film. So happy this Indy made its way to Alabama! Rickman was brilliant (as per usual) Wonderful casting all-around. Chris Pine is possibly the next Brad Pitt. Yummy! Wonderful performances by Rodriguez, Taylor & Pullman. Would have liked to have seen more of Dushku & Farina. Great story telling, delightfully entertaining. Hubby & I had a strange craving for a nice Napa Red after the film. I liked it better than Sideways!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Decent storytelling and lovely cinematography. Was a bit overacted by the usually great Bill Pullman, and Chris Pine, who plays his son, wears one of the worst wigs in recent memory (I hope it actually isn't his hair!) to almost the point of distraction. Alan RIckman is great as always.

...wonderfully acted, funny, touching at times...The photography is inspired. Pullman and Rickman are on point as always. Chris Pine is a delightful young talent. What a refreshing change from the sensational blather than Hollywood is so fond of churning out these days.

I really enjoyed this film. It was a great day for the young California wine industry when the French were toppled by the brash upstarts. This movie captures the excitement and emotion of the moment. Like another reviewer, I teared up when the climactic moment arrived. The story is a little stronger than the movie making, and this will never have the broad cult following of Sideways, but for anyone that loves wine or an underdog, this is a great story. See it on a date, before or after dinner with a bottle of good wine.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Although Bottle Shock did not follow the original book “Judgment of Paris: California vs. France and the Historic 1976 Paris Tasting That Revolutionized Wine” by George M. Taber, as it very well could have and as most films do not, it was well done and a 'must-see' for anyone in to wine and wine history. I think a little bit of American/French wine history could have set the stage a bit better but, in the limited time afforded a typical film, the director must have felt the the love interest part of the story was more important to make this film more 'Hollywood-friendly'. Great cinematography and lots of great aerial shots of California wine country. Definitely one of the best 'wine films' since Sideways.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I would have enjoyed seeing this movie no matter how mundane the acting and the script. It was predictable and the characters a little silly, but the story kept me glued to the screen. Pullman and Rickman are always great. Would have like to been able to bring a good bottle with me, popcorn just doesn't cut it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I would pass on this movie.....the acting wasn't very good. The scenery of the vineyards was beautiful (Napa Valley), but it was apparently shot from an airplane and too fast - made me uncomfortable.

A great advert for Napa and a great story but fowled up with an unreal love story between 2 sometimes 3 ridiculously good looking people. The heart of the story was Pullman's struggle to make a great bottle and it should have stayed on point.
Also the accuracy of the "French vineyards" was off. It looked as if they shot the film in the same location for the entire film no matter what country it was to be in.
Also the director was at the screening but told us he was too tired to stay and answer questions like he did for the earlier shows.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Hi all, I caught Bottle Shock at a recent screening and thought it was great! Alan Rickman steals the show as a hilarious wine seller who travels from France to California to investigate whether California wine is the real deal. Based on a true story. Film has great cast including Bill Pullman, Eliza Dukshu and Freddie Rodriguez. Incredibly funny. Check it out!
