I saw this movie in IMAX during the opening weekend with my wife and just saw it for a second time yesterday with my son who just returned home. I thought it was worth paying for the IMAX both times I watched it! GREAT story/plot, and extremely well acted by all involved! This movie will NOT seem like a 2 1/2 hour film as it never has a dull moment. Heath Ledger's Joker is extremely well acted from such a great script, it should leave all Joker fans wanting more of the character (unfortunately, with a new actor). A theater employee told my wife and I that she had seen it on one of their regular screens, but after seeing a couple of IMAX scenes, she wished she had seen it on the bigger screen! Bigger picture and bigger sound! In a year of big Marvel movies, DC delivered a big answer with Dark Knight...by far the best comic movie of the year, decade, century, ever?

I like to see movies, and am a huge comic fan. As of late there have been a huge surge in decent comic to movie adaptations. This movie trancends the comic it was derived from. Heath Ledger was never apparent in this movie, he was simpply the living embodyment of The Joker. I am happy to say that at last the film companies are doing the comic fans a decent service.

This movie was superb and the IMAX experience made it more so. I recommend anyone who enjoys drama, adventure and suspense along with fabulous special effects to see this film. Heath Ledger was beyond awesome, what a talent, and how sad we will not see more of this great actor.I hope his soul has found peace. Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman continue to give outstanding performances, a movie I would see again and look forward to the continuing story.

Very few movie sequels manage to equal or (dare I say) surpass their original installments. In modern day film, epics like Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars, and The Godfather come to mind when attempting to take the true measure of successful sequels. Thankfully, for us, we now have another entry for this seemingly elite category – The Dark Knight. Why so (seriously) successful, you might ask? Well, I think there are a number of reasons, but they all start with the man named Christopher Nolan. The Dark Knight director only gave us a taste of things to come with Batman Begins – and his not-so-squeaky-clean, almost shadowy, hero, Bruce Wayne. Chris Nolan’s freshman outing, Memento (2000), was a complex, and though provoking mystery that pretty much trashed all the film-making norms. If you haven’t seen this one – put it on your list! The original concept came from Jonathan Nolan (yes, his brother) and they team up again as writers for this sequel. While the plot isn’t 100% perfect, it does motor right along and continues to build intensity right through to the final scene. It also helps that the critical players (Bale, Caine, Freeman, and Oldman) are all back to reprise their special roles. Maggie Gyllenhaal slips in seamlessly to the role previously occupied by Katie Holmes. But the real wild card in this reshuffled deck of players is definitely Heath Ledger. His evil seems to know no depth, but like a fantastic car wreck, you just can’t look away. While decidedly darker that even the first installment, Dark Knight also manages to throw in a few lighter moments, via some sight gags and witty dialog. With a fairly long running time of just over two and a half hours, the film makes use of every second, and you never get a chance to catch your breath. This movie has raised the bar for all those who would attempt to add something new to this genre. The hype is fact – go see this!

everyone who participated in this movie was excellent. from the cinemathography to the directing to the soundtrack to the acting was superb. it is quite a feat if a two and a half hour movie leaves you wanting more but the Dark Knight did. more batman (christian bale), more joker :( (heath ledger), more commisioner gordon (gary oldman), more rachel (maggie gylenhaal), more alfred (michael caine), more harvey dent (aaron eckhart).

The plot thickens! So those purests who have followed the comic books and see all of the changes from the original, enjoy this movie for what it is! The updated version will get more involvement and interest in the plight of the ordinary billionaire man. The character development is wonderful! Infact all of the colorful characters at some point in the movie scream "Look at me!" and continue blending the lines of vigilante and hero. There are few movies I watch in the theater twice, but this is one. I decided on the IMAX experience for my second review of the movie....I was disappointed more with the audience experience as they were not into the film as much as the first crew and frankly was not worth the extra 5 dollars a ticket for a date. Questionable Hint:"Who do you think there setting up to be Robin???" look closely he is there! Purest beware!

The action was non-stop! Health Ledger was beyond excellent and Christian Bale was superb. Of course, you can't go wrong with Morgan Freeman either! I would definitely suggest that you see it at an IMAX theater as some of the scenes are so visually stunning. I would go see it again and again...

One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Every aspect of this movies is amazing. The plot is interesting and twists throughout. The cinematography is breathtaking (especially the scenes filmed in IMAX). Heath Ledger gives one of the best performances I've EVER seen. The only negative I have of the entire movie is Maggie Gyllenhall...she really is the wet blanket. I cannot praise this movie enough.

Despite the high expectations going in, I still felt it was a good movie. The plot and character development were surprisingly sohpisticated. Much more like the comic books I remember from years ago than the superhero movies of the last decade or so.
The joker was much more like my memory of him than the Tim Burton joker. Having said that, I think that Heath Ledger was a bit flat and is getting a lot of credit that should have gone to the script writers.
As with many films in this genre, I felt that the fight/battle sequences were too long, and there more to exploit FX technology (and the incredible sound system at the IMAX) than to support the story.
The IMAX experience was very good. Next time I will sit a little farther back though, the screen was a little to large to completely capture in my field of vision, so I felt like I was watching a pan-n-scan at moments.

An all-star cast turned in stellar performances for this best-in-series Batman film. Christian Bale made a wonderful, likeable, human Batman, and Heath Ledger may well be awarded a well-deserved posthumous Oscar for his spectacular and mesmerizing portrayal of the insane genius of the Joker. Gary Oldman, the steadfast Gordon, is the most versatile actor I've ever seen on stage or screen. This is not a flamboyant role (Zorg), or a lethal one (Dracula), or a dreamy one (Rev. Dimmesdale), but a methodical, plotted, scheming part of a masterfully-built film. Oldman never turns in less than his best. In nearly three hours I never once so much as wondered what time it was. The SFX were unparalleled and I could HAPPILY have sat through another full hour without getting restless, which is unheard of for me. The plot twists back on itself more times than a medieval labyrinth and there are more than a few results you just NEVER saw coming. When you think you know what's going on...think again. I don't watch movies twice in the theater, with two exceptions: ET and Titanic. Well, let's make that three exceptions....

Fabulous and I'm so glad I saw it at IMAX, quite spellbounding. A half hour too long for me. Superb acting, great storyline. I'd rent the movie to rewatch, but not sit 2.5 hours in a theater-though I cannot say enough for watching it at an IMAX theater. Though this could have something to do with my age-53.

This is a brilliant film. The intensity does not slump for even one second. It left me wanting more. The acting is superb, the effects are fantastic, the camera work is beautiful, the story is solid... Go see it right away! You will not be disappointed!

This movie will go down in history as one of the best sequels ever. The transition from "becoming" Batman in the first movie to "being" Batman in the second movie was remarkable. The compexities/conflicts of each character were all well played and the action was intense. Ledger's Joker will go down as one of the best villains of all time.

I've seen it twice in IMAX and it was amazing both times. There is a good chance I will see it again. The acting was great from everyone, and the movie as a whole was scripted perfectly.
