This may not be the best action movie ever (and it very well may be), but it's definitely a 5/5. The acting is superb, the drama is captivating, the plot is unpredictable, and the action is exhilarating. Bottom line: you have to see this movie.

This by far is the best of all the Batman series movies. Heath Ledger just absolutly smoked Jack Nicholson's Joker. The story and movie was just pure perfect all the way through. A fine movie overall. I was slightly confused by the fact that the location shots were obviously Chicago (Lower Wacker Drive, anyone?) I had no enthusiasm for the role of Rachel, and apparently neither did the writers. Lovely explosions and stuntwork, and excellent makeup. The IMAX version has magnificent sound. A very good way to spend 2 1/2 hours.

Taking a superhero out of the superfluous and grounding him in the superior, The Dark Knight does everything right. It is no longer an action movie, but a violent drama. It is no longer pablum for the masses, but a wake up call for how iconic characters can transcend genre. Brilliant direction, perfect performances, shockingly good script, this movie simply excels at everything it does without trying to do more than it should. Heath Ledger's tragedy is brought starkly to life in the realization that there will never be that Joker on the screen again. If he doesn't get a posthumous Oscar nomination, it would only compound the loss. Go see it. Go see it in IMAX. Let your ears bleed and your eyes ache as you can't just sit back and let it play. You have to be actively involved in the IMAX experience, and that makes it all the better.

As most people I enjoy a good comic book story brought to life. All the other Batman movies were very good. This one was way over the top. The villians were great, and had a few unexpected twists throughout the movie. The family and I couldn't believe the movie was over 2 hours long. It left you just wanting more. By far the best comic book creation that has come to life. Bravo!! Each character had an equally strong role to make this movie a Blockbuster!!

The Dark Knight was a gloriously dark movie that explored evil and what it can do to the human condition. The internet reviews of Heath Ledger's performance set a high bar, and he certainly fulfilled and perhaps even exceeded expectations. His performance did not, however, outshine fantastic deliveries from Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and, though to a slightly lesser extent, Maggie Gyllenhaal. Batman, as the movie discusses, is the hero that Gotham, a deeply troubled city, deserves, not that one that it needs. The sacrifices that he is willing to make exemplify "hero," even if he isn't willing to see it.

Flat out The Dark Knight is the best movie of 2008 so far. Even if it wasnt a comic book movie and all of the main characters were replaced by non superheros/villians it would have made for a great heist movie. In the same vein as Heat action wise. Full of unexpected twists and turns. I fully recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed this second part. Anticipition received at the end of Batman Bigins, is thoroughly satisfied. They got a few things wrong, and the cut scenes towards the end were a bit choppy. But overall a entertaining and meaningful superhero movie.

Christopher Nolan pulled it off, the best Batman film so far. This is the Batman of the comic books, dark, angry and a tortured soul. All of the acting was brilliant and Heath Ledger will make us all forget Nicholson's HORRIBLE Joker. As soon as Ledger's Joker made the pencil "disappear", I knew this will be a wild ride. If I have had a theater experiance better than the my veiwing of the Dark Knight at the IMAX theater in Deer Valley AMC 30 in Phx Arizona, I can't remember it right now. It was in a word: INCREDIBLE!! Wow! I mean wow! The movie kept the audiance cheering at thrilling stunts, climaxed appearances, and crying for the unfairness Batman was made to endure. Heath Ledger protrayed the villian of the Joker. He allowed us to laugh and hate him. Waiting for the next psycho move he was planning. Oh I'm sorry.. He has no plans. Christian Bale built depth to Batman. Adding more love and respect to the man who wears a mask in order to become the man Gotham needs. Christopher Nolan is a talented director, and has my respect as such. The Dark Knight has left me with an experiance I will remember.

Best graphic novel adaptation I have seen, had aspects of many genres of movies mixed into one action, drama, comedy, horror. Heath Ledger gave at the very least an oscar nomination performance and quite possibly oscar winning performance. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie and never asked myself "how much longer is this movie" which is what i find myself asking a lot these days, absolutely stunning kept me wanting more

It's worth any extra money to see this in IMAX. There have been times where I have been disapointed before with large releases and IMAX, Spider-man 2 and 3, V for Vendetta. Dark Knight fully utilizes the sound and screen for a totally engrossing movie going experience.

This movie is a thrill ride. You'll be engulfed, then you'll laugh, then you'll jump out of your seat, all within seconds of each other. You never get a chance to even breathe. Absolute gold, both as a comic adaptation and as an action movie. The actors playing each major role - Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman - were double excellent, and each one gave not only a fantastic performance, but created the character styles perfectly. The story was a masterpiece, and the visuals - especially in IMAX - were explosive. Not only do I recommend seeing this movie once, I recommend seeing it over and over again.

Chris Nolan and company play all the characters perfectly - the actors couldn't be better. The story and scripting couldn't be better.
On top of everything else, this is a movie for the masses - you don't have to be a comics geek to truly appreciate the magnitude of this film.

Totally worth every penny to go see it. Especially in IMAX. This is not a movie that you'll want to wait to get on DVD unless you have a big time home theater.

If possible I would give this film 10 stars, if only for Heath Ledger's disturbing and brilliant performance as the Joker. This is one of the darkest films I've ever seen, and by far the best movie of the year. Christian Bale is better in this Batman film than in the first, in my opinion. The only flaw to me was Maggie Gylenhaal, but I think she was certainly better in the role acting-wise than Katie Holmes. I wasn't expecting to be as impressed with Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent/Two-Face, but I definitely was. In conclusion, this movie does not disappoint. Definitely go see it, I recommend in IMAX, that's where I saw it and believe me, it's absolutely amazing.

Heath Ledger's Joker is so compelling, textured and believable - he is a force. But the entire cast is truly remarkable. The special effects could carry the movie alone, but the characters are engaging and make it a full movie experience. Go see it - and on an IMAX screen if you can.
