This is hands down the BEST Batman ever filmed. The joker was incrediable. Ledger blew Jack out of the water with his performance. Two Face was also great. I could and will watch this movie over and over again. It would be your lost if you don't see it. Ledger will win an oscar for this role. Forget brokeback; he will for ever be known as the JOKER. Never has this genre of film seen anything close to this level of excellence. Writing: superb. Acting: superb, especially Ledger's. Direction, Cinematography, Sound,... all superb. The pacing : relentless, in the best possible way. Predictability: non-existent, which separates it from 99% of films in any genre these days. Wow! I've seen this twice now and its even better the second time around. IMAX, if you have ability to see this movie in IMAX, GO! I mean it. Stop whatever you're doing and go to the theatre to buy a ticket. Being a Batman fan for years I enjoyed the Burton films, shuddered at the Schumacher films and rejoiced when Batman Begins came out. Finally someone understands the character. Christopher Nolan nailed the first movie. It was hard to imagine this movie being better in any respect let alone all them. The Dark Knight is superior in every way to its predecessor and for that matter to any other superhero movie. At this point I would be hard pressed to think of a movie I enjoyed more over the past 5 or so years and not just because its Batman. This movie is a fantastic crime drama that just so happens to have comic book characters in it. I would go so far as to compare elements of it to Heat and other great crime films like some other critics have. It's early I know but at this time I fully believe this movie ought to get nominated at the very least for best director, best movie, best original screenplay and last but not least best supporting actor. I don't say Heath Ledger should get the nomination because he passed away recently. I was skeptical of his performance because it had received so much hype and he seemed like such an odd choice. Prior to this movie my favorite Joker was Mark Hamill's from the cartoon. Nicholson was ok but he was Nicholson playing the Joker. Heath was the Joker. Just like when I watched the first movie and saw Christian Bale being Batman not just playing him, Heath makes you forget you're watching an actor and not the real deal. I could say more but it would venture into spoiler territory. Suffice it to say it was spectacular. The only semi-weak point in the film is the Rachel Dawes story arc and thankfully they wrapped up her storyline to where if they make a third film she hopefully won't enter into it. Go forth and enjoy.

Energetic, fast paced both with action and ideology, this film can't help but impress from a technical standpoint. Performances by all main characters involved are solid to stunning - Ledger's Joker being the stunning, Bale's Batman being solid. To be completely fair, it's got to be hard to convey intent and meaning thru all that plastic. In the end, there were just too many similarly paced and cut scenes. This "more, bigger, better" kind of feel squelched the momentum a bit. A kind of patchwork of stunning scenes. Not to say I ever got bored. A real good flick, but couldn't possibly live up to the expectations the hype had given me. Definitely worth seeing, but I think that probably the first Nolan installment was the more groundbreaking; TDK was not allowed to breathe under it's own weight. PS - sorry if I PO any fans (I AM one). I just believe that more could have been achieved with less.

The genius behind Chris Nolan's Dark Knight is almost indescribable. If you can see it at an IMAX theatre, I highly recommend it! There were times when the entire audience would gasp with amazement, including myself, if that gives you an idea of how intense the experience was. As for the movie itself, the story was brilliant and the casting was spot on. Heath Ledger's performance was outstanding and if he doesn't get an Oscar nod, I'll never watch their awards again. The fact that I was dreading the Joker's appearance due to the fact that I would have a small panic attack really says something about how he portrayed the character! Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart and Michael Caine were stellar, and of course, Christian Bale is the ultimate Batman, now and forever. Maggie Gyllenhaal is one of my favorite actresses, but I just didn't get enough from her character as Rachel. I didn't feel the connection between her and Batman. (which goes the same for Katie Holmes, as well) These movies are not built around an epic love story, though, which I appreciate. It's gritty, dark and thoroughly enjoyable. Kudos to Chris Nolan and the entire cast and crew. I will definitely see this again in the theatres and if you haven't gone already, please do!

Health Ledger was awesome! The movie was great and for a 2 1/2 hour movie it didnt move slow. It kept my attention the whole time and the IMAX experience was the best....I wouldnt see it any other way.

After the first Batman movie of this new series, I expected a good followup - and I was not disappointed! I saw the Imax version, which was a little too loud at points but made the film appear larger than life. I was surprised at the violence and only a PG-13 rating, although I didn't lose interest at all in the 2 1/2 hours. I'm sure there will be another, and I'm guessing it will involve Catwoman, since they alluded to that in this movie.

This movie was a great movie itself but I feel if it wasn't for Ledger it would have been a little weaker. IT WAS A MIND BLOWING MOVIE. I saw it in IMAX Wednesday before it came out because I work at the movies so it was great watching it on IMAX because you felt everything going on it was like you were there with them. Heath will amaze you with his performance! Defiantly an Oscar worthy one. Not just because he died but because every time he took the screen you couldn't take you eyes off him. He commanded the screen and movie. As the joker it was amazing to have such the darkest character in the movie to be almost a light of reason for the things he did. Pure genuis. Everyone go spend your money one this movie if you go see one movie this year!
