I neither hated nor loved it. I love the books, so I was excited for the movie, and then let down when it was over. This is why I wonder how much of the film was influenced by directorial agenda or the actor's liberty. I can't fault an actor for their own personal interpretation. I just feel there will be ramifications for the next film.
I hope a larger budget for New Moon will allow them to take larger liberties. I feel like the book connection Edward and Bella had didn't translate well on the screen. Maybe it did and I missed it amid all the screaming and laughing from the teen fans. I'm just worried for New Moon, and hope a stronger relationship is established at the start so certain events that occur later are more believable.

I like the way the movie resembled the book. However, the development of the relationship with Bella and Edward was so stunted! There was so much more b/w them than was shown in the movie. The scenes didn't always flow well, and sometimes seemed disjointed. I did think the casting was excellent. Both of these young actors did a good job portraying Bella and Edward. I am look forward to the next movie.

Great way to tell the story was as true to the book as could be expected. Really great cast! Can't wait to see NEW MOON.
Negitives-Bella wasnt quite clumsy enough for me. I felt the scene w/Bella and Edward in the evergreen looking out over Forks was the only unbelievable scene. There is NO way Edward would have let Bella climb all over up there!
Overall great! I will be seeing it again :)

I did not dislike this movie but was a little disappointed. I don't think they touched enough on the love story between them. Also, some of the special effects where cheesey, like when Edward was running with Bella. They did not do a good job with the actor who played Jasper, every time he came on screen, we laughed, they made him look so sketchy. I did not like how they zoomed in on their faces, it was too documentary.

the town of Forkes, the school, and the surrounding woods were excellently portrayed. Robert Pattinson was superb as Edward Cullen. He delivers the deep and complex character described in the book.

Was looking forward to watching a movie that wasn't entirely from Bella's perspective, so the voice over narration was a disappointment as I'd hoped the director would've found ways to show her emotions through other ways. Stephenie Meyer's cameo seemed unnecessary. Wish there were more scenes with the Cullen family. Dialog scenes between Edward and Bella seemed to drag and be repetitive as there was no actual dialog but just scenes showing them talking with a score that didn't always seem to fit the emotion. Twilighters will like it, but I expect it will have a lot more to do with them lusting after Pattinson, which let's face it, is a great looking Griffyndor - and I can't wait to see him as Salvador Dali.

I have to say this movie was great. I went to the midnight showing and it was awesome. I have to agree with someone's review about development of the love. I mean it was perfect but I think if they would have spent a little bit more time on developing the love story. iIknow how hard it is to work it in cause of budgeting and all as well as time. The movie was already at 2 hours. I think that New Moon will have more wiggle room now they know what this book series is like.
I am going to go back and see it again and will definetly be getting the dvd.

As a mom of a teenage daughter, i was dragged into going to see this movie. i had no idea what i was in for other than a vampire movie. Like i havent seen enough of those. But as i watched this movie, i found myself very intrigued and interested. I had to say i was very caught up in the movie and edward and bella. i am excited to see the next one that comes out and at this moment i am trying to pry the book away from my kids so that i can read it.

I thought the movie was ok. It dragged initially in an attempt to develop the characters. I would have liked to see more done to investigate the deaths occurring in the town.
The special effects were good. I can see by the way the movie ended it lends itself to multiple sequels.
I really think this would probably be better if it were adpated for a television series.

I thought the movie was great!!! It's such an intense book that the humor in the movie was a nice relief. I thought there may have been a little to much time spent on establishing Bella and Edwards relationship and not enough time developing the other characters. I was sad to not see more from Alice and Jasper! I did think they did a great job with the changes they made from the book in the movie. They stayed quite true to the book! I think their main goal of having the audience feel the true love between Bella and Edward was accomplished. I can't wait for New Moon and Eclipse!

If you haven't read the book, movie will not answer all of your questions at the end. If you have read the book, it will foreshadow wolves for the next movie.
Pace was slow at the beginning but picked up towards the middle. It got interesting after the Cullen family was introduced more and special affects improved. The beginning affects were hideous for the budget the film had.
The thing that comes to mind first is Star Wars. The romance lines made me laugh because they were so cheesy.
The book must have more plot, thus, better than the movie -- it needed more plot upfront for non-book viewers.

I went to the 12:01 a.m. showing of this movie with my daughter and waited for nearly 5 hours for the movie to start. I absolutely LOVED the movie!!!! I went into it knowing that the movie could not completely mimic the book and felt they did an awesome job with the awkwardness between Bella & Edward as they developed their relationship. And I feel that the parts that differed from the book were well played to give the audience a "visual" of events that were eluded to in the book. I can't speak highly enough of the movie and I felt the casting was electrifying! I can't wait until New Moon comes out!!

I sat in the movie trying my hardest to like it. It was horrible. I found my self laughing at ALL the bad acting. Edward tried way to hard and what was up with Jasper. Just weird. not good at all. They rushed the love story and you never herd them actually say i love you. whats up with THAT. The point of the story is they fall in love. duh. It looked like a cheesy wanna be vampire movie. What a shame because I really really loved the books. they need to slow down and tell the story the right way. Hopefully they can use the profit from Twilight to invest into NM and give the cast some acting lessons. Major over acting. especially Edward. He looked like a vampire on speed. What a joke. What a disappointment. oh well.

I've read the entire Twilight saga, and this movie was so disappointing! The book is so much better! The scenes were choppy, and the acting was very, very poor. Bella and Edward are supposed to have this amazing connection, and you couldn't see that in the movie at all! This movie did not live up to its hype.

Its loyal to the book. The casting is perfect. Absolutely perfect. The Cullens do appear to be just as beautiful and charming as the book describes them. I can't think of a more perfect main character cast than this except for Harry Potter and LOTR. These actors and actresses cared about this movie. The special effects are good. The soundtrack is appropriate, not too loud and does as it should, aids the scenes.
You can feel the chemistry on screen and even if you have not read the books, you leave this story, caring about Bella and Edward. Its funny, its dramatic, its serious and it charming.
Thank you Summit! Give us 2, 3 and 4 now. And thank you for hiring Robert Pattinson. He truly is a creative gift to us all.

Yes, I read the books. Yes, I had high expectations for the movie. Did the movie reach my expectations? No...BUT...there is no way that it could. Most of Twilight-the-book is based upon pure dialogue. There is no way that Twilight-the-movie could have worked purely based upon the book, without the movie just being Bella and Edward talking endlessly. Overall, though, I would recommend this movie to anyone that enjoys a relationship movie with an exciting vampire plot.
