As a Mom and as a Twilight lover, I really enjoyed this movie. The experience was enhanced by the fact that my daughter and I went to the Opening Night show at midnight. Wow! Talk about some die hard fans! The movie started out fast and never slowed down. You don't have to read the book to enjoy the movie but it will definitely help your experience if you do. I always wish that there is more of the book in any adaptation that I see but I think they did well with the time limits they had. Overall, a great movie experience!

This movie was the absoulte best movie!! They did a wonderful job pulling so many things from the books. I am a 34 yr old mom of a 17 yr old daughter and we had such a wonderful time sharing the books and movie!! DO READ THE BOOKS BEFORE GOING TO SEE THE MOVIE YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!

I agree that you have to be a reader of the books, before seeing the movie, there are a lot of things that make twilight what it is that are not shown in the movie like the whole reason that it is called Twilight, or Alice's Background. I understand that you can only fit so much into a 2 hour window, but still. And I do think Rob P is so hott. But his acting could be a little better, throughout the whole movie you dont see confidence at all..... :(

Sometimes it is hard to see a movie after you have read the book...often times 'Hollywood' has a totally different opinion of what we feel the true story was about. Who knows if Stephenie Meyers was really thinking about a Tom Cruise lookalike from An Interview with a Vampire when she was writing about Carlisle...and how an olive complected male with long dark hair named Laurant turned into a jamaican vampire with dreds is also hard to explain, but that's the effect that Hollywood has on our books. The movie stayed very true to the book and that was refreshing. It did move quickly, so if you have not read the stories, you may not fully comprehend the movie, but you will still love it.
Buy the books, READ THEM and you will LOVE THEM!

I waited in line last night to watch the movie that started at exactly 12.01am
It was a good movie, but i strongly recommend that you READ THE BOOK BEFORE U WATCH THE MOVIE.
There are a lot of things in the movies that only the ppl who have read the books will understand!
The movie moved too fast....and skipped a lot of parts in the book.....
I was a little disappointed....but Im glad they made the book into a movie....
anyways go read the book before u watch the movie...:)

Ok, so overall they did a good job. There were some corny moments at first but it went on to deliver its best and that's why I gave it a 5. I went with 6 people and only one other person besides myself read the book. The 4 people that didn't read were very satisfied. The movie was also a little funnier than the book. I really hope the cast signs on to do part two because it wouldn't be the same without them. I somehow feel that Kristen wants to find more serious roles and hopefully that doesn't get in the way of finishing the Twilight series for us!!!

Perhaps it is just because Alice is my favorite but I was a bit dissapointed the rest of the Cullen's did not play a bigger part in the movie as they did in the book. Overall though I thought that the action that was added into the movie was fitting and did not go too far off base of the book. At times it seemed to jump to quickly from one event to the other but I will say this it was by far the best movie of 2008 and I am deffinitly going to see it again. I gave it 5 stars because it has the great quality of drawing you in and keeping you interested just like the books did. A must see. Keep an eye out for Stephanie Meyers cameo!

As a reader, collector and majorly obsessed fan I knew right away that the movie would be different from the book. We were all excited and to be honest, knowing that it would be different, we weren't disappointed. The story line did move quite fast and there were a few parts that you would only get if you had read the books but over all it was a good movie. One friend who didn't read the books followed most of the story line though and still thought it was an awesome movie. The ones that read the book only wish they had made it a 3 hour movie and added a few more details to it and built up the characters a little more. Over all I recommend this movie to almost anyone and just advise that you want to read the books before you see it.

I absolutely loved the movie.... reading the book is a good idea before you go into the movie... but it is still a descent movie w/o reading it... THE BOOK IS WAY BETTER!!! but how can you fit roughly 700 pages of a detailed book into a 2 hour movie..?? it moved fast and kinda seemed like it jumped... they intwinded alot... but it was cute!!

I have read all of the books and personally think if you want to really get the full effect of the movie you must read the book. There were some things you would get a better understanding for if you have read the book. Some things of course were left out but the best parts were put in. Edward of course looked amazing! Robert Pattinson did a great job with the role. I hope all of the original cast stays throughout the series. This by far was one of the best movies I have seen for a while. Once you watch it you will want more. The sad part was when the credits ran :( you can't get enough of Edward and I guess Bella too.

There is much to this movie that will be lost to those who have not read the book. It was a good adaptation from the book that covered the main points, however some is lost in translation. Was a low-budget film and is quite apparent, but here's to them getting more money for the New Moon!

I loved the movie, though I think you have to read the book to really appreciate it fully. It could have been an hour longer and had some key points added to it, especially character development of Edward and the Cullens. (There was no indication of how alone he had been up until meeting Bella. That's very important.) All in all the cast was great, I loved the sparkles in the sun and the baseball game. I look forward to New Moon and hope it will be closer to 3 hours than 2. The chemistry between Edward and Bella dazzled, and Edward was quite beautiful. Alice and Jasper are my favorites and I would have liked to see more of them. All in all, a fun experience.

they skipped the car scene
and also the biology lab scene
and they rushed it!!

I have read twilight 57 times And over all i thought it was an amazing movie. You have to go in not expecting the stars and it to be just like the book. because its not possible to fit the whole movie.
i was second in line and waited for 7 hours. and i thought it was well worth it. THIS MOVIE WAS GREAT. the only reason i gave it a four is because it wasnt perfect. stuff was changed.
THE BASEBALL SCENE WAS AMAZING. it was fantastic. my favorite part of the same time. and i also like the awening scene.

The movie was horrible, but the fans were even worse. Rude and overly loud, they screamed through the entire movie, completely ruining it for anyone that wished to enjoy it in peace.
The acting was, at best, a very novice level. Robert Patterson as Edward was the most horrible mistake Stephanie Meyer could have made.
I was VERY disappointed that key parts of the book were left out from the movie.
All in all, I found it a complete waste of both my time and my money, and I will most likely not be seeing the other ones when they come out, lest they further ruin the books for me.

It's difficult to adapt a 500-page novel for the screen, especially when that novel is written in first person narrative. However, this is one of the best adaptations I have ever seen. This film captures the essence of the emotions in the story and covers all the major plot points. Die-hard fans won't be disappointed, and Twilight newcomers will find an engaging love story. On occasion the acting seems contrived, but the great majority of the film is very real and raw and the creative team in front of the camera and behind did a commendable job presenting new versions of Meyer's characters for audiences to love.

I became hooked on the Twilight saga a few months back and was beyond excited when I found out the movie was coming out. Just a notes on why it's a 4* instead of 5*. I'm not concerned about the parts that were left out or that it moved a bit fast--those are pretty much given with any book-adapted movie, but there were some details that were changed, I guess to suit the movie more. But overall, I loved the humor, the actors, and the scenes :) I definitely hope to see it again.

I went to the midnite premier of the movie and thought it was amazing. I do agree that some of the story did go a bit fast but thet only had two hours to fit an entire book in. You definitley need to read the books before seeing the movie and if you don't you do need to read after. The shots were glorious, the casting was dazzling, and the editing was superb. Everyone needs to see this film!!

My daughter got me hooked on the series and I loved the morality portrayed in this age of loose morality. Relationship between Bella and the Cullen's is weak. Alice is her friend and loves Bella. Jasper grows to love Bella too and tells her that she is worth all of the problems. Dialogue didn't need to be changed. A beautiful aspect of the book is the deviation from the mainstream language used. Another wonderful aspect of the book is the innocence of love between Bella and Edward. Both characters are virginal. Bella would not be in her panties with him in the room. Humor between the characters was not explored enough. Harry Potter movies stick to the book better. It might do the writers good to expand on the length of the next movie.

I am a professed Twilight mom! I went to the advanced screening last night, and I was really blown away by the imagery and camera work. The movie stuck fairly closely to the book, so if you are a fan of the series, I am sure you would enjoy the movie version. The actors really brought the characters to life, and my only complaint is Kristen Stewart and the constant look of terror that she wore. The music was fresh and the movie moved at a quick pace that ended too soon in my opinion, but hey, they can't all be three hours long!

The movie did an amazing interpretation of the book. Yes it wasn't exactly the book but we all knew that it wouldn't happen like that and I am very glad it didn't. It set up the stage for the future films. I couldn't have asked for a better movie to be made and all of the actors/actresses did an amazing job of protraying their roles. There was not one moment during the movie where I thought oh there's no way they are their character.

Going to see a movie for a book, it was in my expectation that it would of course not follow along EXACTLY. But after seeing 'Twilight', I found it didn't bother me. Though the movie may not follow along with the book in it's entirety (which there are very few, very minor things which they dont), the differences were minor and seemed unimportant in contrast to how wonderful the movie was.
In my opinion, each character was wonderfully portrayed and the story was served justice. It was very funny and highly enjoyable to watch. Though there were many things a person would not understand had they not read the book.
If you are a Twilight fan, or even the slightest bit interested, the movie is definitely worth watching.

I absolutely love all the books in the twilight saga! The movie was disappointing because the actors did not seem to understand their characters and ended up looking cheezy and awkward half the time. There wasnt enough passion and sensuality. The movie skipped out on many essential parts of the book, which made for a hard transition among the scenes. As incredible as Rob Pattinson looked, he didnt seem to live up to the gace and confidence of Edward Cullen. He looked very awkward and uncomfortable. There were, however, a few good scenes. But overall i expected much more of it.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
