While the book is gripping, the movie doesn't offer any surprising or insightful elements. The acting, particuarly Ed's one, is unfortunately terrible. The make-up of the Cullens is overdone. There's no real sense of Bella being in danger, or of the Cullens' security being threatened.
Overall it's a low ok popcorn movie.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I thought that Twilight was a good movie. every scene related to the book really well. I know that you can only fit so much into a movie, but it seemed very spacy. With the book, so much more detail about everything was there for you to comprehend, and in the movie it was just a little piece of the scene. Overall the movie was great, i mean who wouldnt want to watch edward and jacob and JAMES! (who is definately the most sexy bad guy alive!). The only thing that was dissapointing was the ending. you can tell that there will definately be another movie for the second book.

I did enjoy many parts of the movie. I thought all of the actors did a phenomenal job of capturing their character. Jasper was hilarious. There were definitely some great scenes. This being said, there were still issues. Hardwicke tried entirely too hard to give the movie the 'indie' edge with all of film angles and the plot jumping from scene to scene. It didn't really work with the material at hand. Also be warned some of the script is just rediculous. There were a few too many times the whole theatre laughed and it was not with the movie, but at it. I want to love the movie, but it could have been so much better. Final note if you did not read the books you will miss out on A LOT.

If you read the books you'll love the movie. Probably because of time, the movie does move fast but overall they did a good job turning the book into a movie and getting all of the main points across. I may see the movie again in a few weeks when the buzz dies down because the theater that I saw the movie in was filled with VERY young girls who screamed like they were at a boy band concert almost every time Edward was on screen; which was distracting and made me feel like I missed parts of the movie.

I am a huge fan of the books, but this movie was a total joke. It made a mockery of the whole book and there was either some really bad acting, but most likely bad directing. I expected the movie to be more like harry potter or underworld in tone...but the movie appeared to be making fun of the fact the fantastic elements of the story are unrealistic. There is no smooth transitioning, no character development, no good integration of the soundtrack. Everything is just a joke. Whoever wrote the script didn't even appear to have read the book, and if they did, they didn't work with Meyer at all to grasp the whole idea behind it. Unless of course, I am the one who misunderstood the novel.

I saw this movie at midnight and i went in knowing it was a hollywood version of twilight so i knew not to expect too much. The movie overall stayed close to the book of course it is not as fantastic as the book is but it served its purpose. Robert did a fantastic job as Edward and Kristen was an okay Bella she seemed too serious throughout the film for me. I have to say I would have loved more scenes with the Cullens. The movie even though two hours long seemed to move to quick but I loved it anyway. I am a huge twilight saga fan and was pleased with the film overall and I would say watch it I know I am watching it again. Not the best movie of the year but a must see for a twilight fan!

I read all the books very recently, and was just thrilled with the film. It was beautifully done, the color schemes were stunning, and the outdoor scenes were perfectly shot to incorporate the landscape. It stayed very true to the book, but the live-action characters brought a unique, quirky humor to the story at times that was felt more on screen than it could be on paper. I'd definitely recommend it!

I gave the movie 5 stars for those who haven't already read the book. The movie is really well done. However, if you have read the book, you may find yourself disappointed. Some sections are left out for time sake. Bella has occasionally moments where her acting skills lack. And intense serious moments in the book are almost portrayed humorously in the movie, ex: the first bio class Edward and Bella share. Jasper's face is classic and was cast well. But honestly, Jacob is quite unattractive compared to what I would have imagined.
Though I am tearing it apart, I will still buy the DVD when it comes out, and probably go see it again in theaters.
But go read the book!

I liked the actors and the plot but I felt the scenes were a bit choppy. There were many establishing scenes using the forest and they could have been edited a bit tighter. The relationship between Bella and Edward was not explained or explored in as much depth as I felt the plot and viewers expected.
However... I would recommend this movie and I hope the sequels will be coming soon.

I LOVED IT!!! I thought they did a great job and they stayed true to the book. There were a few changes, but they were minor enough that the story still flowed. It was really funny, especially if you have read the series because they hinted at things to come. I thought the movie could have been longer because it seemed like they rushed some things, but overall I thought it was great. I am definitely going to see it again and I can't wait!!!

I am an adult professional who fell deeply in love with this story. The movie was artistically beautiful and flowed well.
The book had so much more detail that couldn't be brought to light but the movie gave the book readers something that gave the book more life! Fantastic and a must see!
True love is portrayed in the primal need to be near the one that they love!

The best love story in years...I don't want to ruin scenes for anyone who hasn't watched YET, but the looks were unbelievable, you are mesmorized for the entire time of the movie. All of the cast brought these characters to life in a true way and you just felt the love...For all the people who didn't think Rob Pattinson could pull this off they are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO wrong, he was an amazing Edward, Kristen Stewart is Bella in every way, the entire cast were true Cullens.

The movie is visually appealing, great cast, good amount of action, and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen is HOT!!!! HOT!!!! HOT!!!!
in my opinion, I hope if there is another movie to follow they change the director and or the artistic direction almost altogether. It lacked passion. Edward and Bella's roles seemed to be reverse.... she appears stronger than him. The action was great and like I said very visually appealing movie. They didn't need to add tons of stuff but are a few scenes that could have used so much more imagination on the directors part.

This movie was good, but not as good as the book. It definitely set the stage for the sequels to be big blockbusters. The character development was somewhat lacking compared to the book, and some of the acting was cheesy. The action scenes were great, and the acting got better as the movie progressed. I have to be honest, I didn't have high expectations for this movie. I couldn't understand how they were going to have my favorite book squashed into 2 hours. But, even though it was quick, they managed it. I LOVED IT!!
**The only time people laughed, was because they knew what the character was thinking in the book when the actor on screen was acting it out...YOU WON'T LIKE OR UNDERSTAND THIS MOVIE IF YOU DID NOT READ THE BOOK!!! YOU WILL ALSO BE CONFUSED AND ANNOYED BY THE 324134 GIRLS LAUGHING AT EVERY PART THAT YOU DONT FIND FUNNY!!!

The movie was really good, although the fact that I read & fell in love with the book beforehand really enhanced the movie. The movie did leave out some background information, such as Alice’s past, & Jasper's power. For being limited to a 2 hour film, I thought that they did an excellent job! & for those fans of the book who don't like the choice of Rob Pattinson for Edward. I was totally with you beforehand, but after seeing twilight, I am absolutely in love with him. All of the characters just sort of fell into place. I think that he's so lovable in the movie because of the role given to him. You can't help but to fall in love with Edward Cullen. No matter who plays him. It was a really good film, although definitely read the book first.

I've read all the books, major fan, got to the theaters about 3 hours early just to get good seats. I didn't know if the actors would pull it off but I'm now inclined to say both Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart performed magnificently. It was a great movie, albeit a bit cheesy at points, but isn't that what makes us love twilight? If you haven't read the books I recommend doing so, it makes the movie all that better--though it does great all on its own.

I thought the movie was pretty good. I like the book a lot better though. The only real problem with the movie is that some of the scenes were kinda cheesy... it got better as the movie went on.... cant wait for the rest of them to come out!

My girlfriends and I went to the midnight show last night. Though most of us had read the book, a couple had not and they still LOVED the movie. I agree that I had a better understanding of some scenes then the non readers did, but over all the movie stands on its own. I was worried about the casting, since my imagination is quite vivid, but all the actors/ actressess were fantastic. I am taking my daughter to see it this weekend and am crossing my fingers for the sequel.

I loved the Twilight books. So, when I looked up the movie on the internet, something I never bothered to do for any other book I was excited by the trailer scenes. I went to the midnight premiere which is also something I have never done for any other movie so needless to say I was very excited. However, the movie had to be available to it's teen fan base and I think would have been more believable if it could have been rated R. They did a great job casting the lead characters and the girls next to me didnt shut up the entire time. Even though the movie wasn't as stunning as I had hoped I still liked it enough to say I will definitely see any sequels. At midnight. And as I am sure anyone else reviewing this is saying READ THE BOOKS FIRST.

I'm 27 and at first I was hesitant on reading the Twilight series. I am so glad I read the Twilight series. The Twilight books were excellent and so was the movie. Read the book first then watch the movie. By reading the book first you will pick up on a few things that you would overlook in the movie. The movie is fast paced but I did not feel like I missed out on anything. I left the theatre feeling satisfied and ready for the next movie in the series--New Moon.

I thought the blue filter over the entire movie was a little annoying. Robert Pattinson did an excellent job portraying Edward's passion for Bella, but I think Kristin Stewart was too twitchy and awkward for my taste, she wasn't "believable" per se. There were a lot of blurred parts of the movie, like Edward and Bella talking, and I thought maybe it would be more suspensful but I guess the movie just moved too fast. OVERALL...It's a cute movie, but I think people should read the book first before they go see it. I definitely didn't know there were so many funny parts in the book as there were in the movie, the middle schoolers surrounding me were laughing as Edward was cutting his food.....when Edward said "Hello" to Bella.....

The characters were portrayed wonderfully by the actors, the storyline follows the book as hoped. The scenery is gorgeous. Unique one-liners will become part of the new Pop dialogue. Both heart throbbling forbidden romance and gut wrenching suspense keep you glued to your seat.. This was one movie that didn't disappoint after reading a great book. In fact it surpassed expectations. I look forward with anticipation to the sequels.

The whole movie moved fast and transitions were not excuted in a way that could be followed easily.The problem with this movie is that the dialog and the settings where they spoke were completely wrong.someone who didnt read the book would not notice that but the placing was an important element that should not have been overlooked.Also some scenes were carried out completely wrong!it missed key elements in the interactions between Bella and Edward that were nessessary for the development of their relationship.I was not impressed with Kristin Stweart's acting ability.she is not strong enough as an actress to portray such an emotional character.Robert Pattinson did well with Edward.The actual presentation did not live up to its hype.
