not majorly comic-educated, but am alpha flight/wolverine fan. think they missed opp here to inc. some alpha flight since their stories are so tied together in comics. wolv. Run into james hudson would have been more accurate and would have opened up the possibility of future alpha features. even accuracy aside, the story itself was kinda week. whole thing about them fake-killing his girlfriend was odd. just left her in the woods, didn't stick around to see her remains taken care of? and why didn't they really kill her? killed others with out hesitating and didn't really have any more use for her. but there was plenty of action and jackman-flesh to keep interested. i might even see it again in theatre, and will be sure to pick it up on blu.

This was a great prequel. You can't compare it to other comic book series as those are entirely different.
I haven't read the comics so for straight theatrical entertainment it is a great flick. Critics rate it low because they want good cinematography and whatnot. Whatever. This was an entertaining movie and a great one to kick off the summer season.

I loved it! I really wanted to give it a 4.5!!! I was a little worried when my husband picked this movie over a couple of others because I assumed I wouldn't like it.
I was wrong!!! It had a great mix of action and drama, with a few comical moments to lighten it up a bit.
I am going to watch the other X-men movies! This was great!

I always knew X-Men would make it to the big screen someday. After the trilogy was over, I knew Wolverine's story would be the first to be told. His was my favorite as a kid and the movie was fricken awesome. I cant wait for the next one.

Well aside from asking the viewer to forget the "original" Sabertooth from the first movie, it was a great flick. Predictable especially if you followed the comics or cartoon at all. Though I went in not thinking Ryan Reynolds was going to be believable as Dead Pool but he suprised me. A MUST SEE for every "Fan Boy/Girl" like myself!

It felt like they rushed the beginning way too much. Wolverine's involvement with Team X and their missions around the globe should've been packed with stories. The second act was the best because it was all revenge. Then when they got to island in the third act.....it crashed and burned. It was a terrible conclusion to the whole movie. The movie just ended on a bad note.
Poor use of the great material. I really wanted to like this movie. I love comics.
I appreciate the hard work they put into this movie and there were parts I found brilliant but not enough to really like it. It was a disappointment and that makes me very sad as a fan of the comics. But nice try guys. I know it wasn't all of their faults. :(

I have to say I was extremely impressed with this movie. Asides from a few changes from the comics, the characters were spot on. I enjoyed how the movie was more serious and a little darker than the usual campy tone which most Marvel movies carry, though it does have a good amount of good wise-cracks. Again, I was very pleased with this movie and I look forward to the continuation of this story arc and other X-men Origins movies.

I thought the movie was very good, engrossing and offered excellent special effects. I was, however, troubled by all the violence in substitute for character development and plot development. The movie was visually powerful, but somewhat less cerebral than the other three films.... Ahh, but there it is - looking for high literature from a comic book... excellent comic book.

Great explanation of how Wolverine came to be, but it would have worked without the constant violence. Hugh Jackman does a fantastic job in the title role. Liv Schreiber eats up the scenery and seems to be having a great time as the baddest of the bad guys. The ending was a bit ambiguous for those who don't know the comic books. Lives up to the blockbuster hype.

We enjoyed watching the movie and the family had fun, but the movie glazed over some of the key points of Wolverines origin... die hard comic fans will probably miss these, but others will take it for what it is worth and enjoy it for what it is.
On another note, there were a lot of other mutants in the film, which took the focus away from Wolverine at times...
Overall, an enjoyable summer movie, but not as good as Iron Man, Spiderman 1, Xmen 2...

I really enjoyed this movie! I want to say that first because I admit I was a little concerned by some the lukewarm 'critical' notices. It had plenty of action, some cool looking special efx and who could be totally immune to the talents and charms of Hugh Jackman (certainly not me!) OK, they did play a little fast and loose with the back story, and, it did lack the wit of 'Ironman' and the depth of 'Batman'. But, for a fast, fun superhero experience, 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' definitely delivers!

By far the best X-Men movie experience of them all. I liked the first 3 but I felt they focused way too heavily on Logan's involvement as a leader of the group and didn't provide nearly enough of a back drop as to why he was so important. Of course he's always been a fan favorite for comic book readers but his character for these films didn't quite fit with me. Origins provides the missing history in a very entertaining way. Not to spoil the movie but Deadpool! Wasn't sold on the change myself.

I had low expectations going into the movie. I heard many bad reviews from critics and fanboys.
I'm a Wolverine comic fan and after seeing the movie. I have to say I loved it! I don't see why all the negative reviews.
They did Wolverine's origin right! I was OK with the changes. It fell in line with the comic book versions that was believable.
The only thing I didn't like is how they did Deadpool, totally screw it up. Cutting off all his joking around and giving him all those ridiculous powers.
Stick around after the credits. There is a nod to Wolverine fans and which story line from the Wolverine mini series they will go with, if there is a sequel.
Everyone go see this movie now!

For those who expect all out action, this is not the movie to watch. X-Men Origins is just that: a setup of probably the most recognizable mutant, Wolverine. From his beginning to where the movie concludes provides a dramatic hook that ties up any loose ends from X-Men 2. Should the premise remain, watching the origins or Magneto or Professor X will be a treat.

The movie was ok. I'm going to assume that this will build a foundation that other movies are goign to spring board from. But as someone that knows the back histories of logan and some of the other characters. I was disappointed that they chopped it up a little too much. The action and the characters are going to be fine for people that don't know back stories behind some of these characters. But to me it was just ok w/ some mild distraction.

Hugh Jackman is terrific. The backstory fills in lots of gaps (which were intentional) in the previous X-Men films. Good story with romance and interesting relationships. Some funny lines, too. Hugh not only starred, but he was a producer as well. Good job, mate!!
