We went and saw that movie "Expelled", the movie about inteligent design vs. darwinism. It was hosted by Ben Stein, I thought it was a pretty interesting movie. Although it never really got into the actual discussion of creationism, it did, in my opinion, have a very strong case disproving darwinism. I dont think that it will be in theatres long, though, so you might have to wait till it goes to dvd to see it. It was kind of funny, becuase after the movie Somer was waiting for me to get out of the rest room, and an older couple that had been watching the movie, that walked out after us, went up to Somer and told her "if you haven't seen Expelled, don't go see it, it is a horrible movie". Which i could not figure out if the lady ment it as being against/for darwinism/intelligent design, but none the less it was an "interesting" comment. Because it sparked something in their minds. I don't know though, she might have been just a bitter elderly lady. But Ill leave that up to her. But I do think you would find the movie interesting, but still wait till it goes out on dvd to see it.

EXPELLED does a great job of documenting how the ruling orthodoxy of Darwinian evolution will go to great lengths to suppress any dissenting opinions that are based on scientific experimentation and evidence, not just religious orthodoxy. The malevolence many of the Darwinian evolutionists expressed towards religion in general and Christianity in specific was quite shocking. I was reminded of the time that Galileo was brought condemned before the Pope for expounding that the Sun, not the Earth was the center of the solar system. He was forced to recant under pain of excommunication and death. This has often been cited by science as an example of what religion does to sScience. Has Science now fought its way into the Pope's robes? It would appear that unless you bow before the altar of orthodoxy, you will be targeted. This is happening not only in evolutionary biology, but also in climatology. A pox on the person who does not hold fervently to the FACT of global warming that is due primarily to the predations of mankind. Ben also brought out how the purely mechanistic worldview of Darwinian evolution has led to eugenics, where man in his infinite wisdom attempts to help the evolutionary process along. This idea, popular in the early part of the 20th century certainly influenced Hitler and led to his desire to extinguish select populations of humanity, such as the Jews, since they were viewed as a lower life form by the National Socialists. What is frightening is the parroting of this world view by a rather large fraction of the Islamic world, where Jews are depicted as unclean animals. Just look up the Hamas video with the ersatz Mickey Mouse if you want one example. What made the movie really entertaining was the subtle humor and satire that Ben Stein employed . I also found it extremely entertaining when he would allow certain pompous and bloviating individuals to walk into a verbal trap. Often, they did not seem to realize that they had been had. Watch for the fat man with the bushy sideburns. Was it a bit one sided, yes, but I wouldn't call the productions of Michael Moore or Algore as shining examples of fairminded debate either. If nothing else, see it because it challenges your comfort zone. You just might find out that you have been too complacent.

Great movie. There are several issues address or hinted at within this film. One is that "Education" is vastly overrated. Here you have a bunch of highly degreed people that sit on two sides of the fence both claiming they're right ones on the same issue. For the most part, a college degree is a degree in memorization and not real objective thinking. The second point is that to really understand something you have to have an affinity with it. The Darwinians clearly have no affinity with the truth, however, "Expert" they imagine themselves to be. A third point is that dumbing down of America. I thought the film did an excellent job of highlighting the fact that evolution has risen to the point of being a doctrine, complete with inquisitors and witch hunts. Any true scientist welcomes debate. If ideas cannot be challenged, science cannot advance. I only wish the movie would have spent a little more time addressing some of the gaping holes in evolutionary theory. When Dawkins made the claim that there is a huge body of evidence to support it, Stein should have challenged him to back up that claim.

I enjoyed this movie very much. I appreciated the thoughtfulness given to this issue. Although there was really no definitive conclusion to the movie, it really made me think. There was one part that talked about people with disabilities which greatly impacted me because I have a child with a disability and the ramifications for my own child was extremely troubling!

I love Ben Stein's dead pan humor.This documentory formatted movie was entertaining and thought provoking. It was enlightening to see how closed minded our collegiate systems have become here in America - the land of the FREE! I would recommend any teen whether in college, high school, or junior high to see this movie. Kids, it's time to start thinking, researching, and speaking up!

Regardless of your beliefs on evolution or intellegent design, you have to admit that without an open exchange of ideas the truth cannot be delivered unquestionably. As long as there are questions about origins, there needs to be dialogue that has no boundries. This documentary, although not very exciting, shows the reality of the wall of separation between politically correct thinking and the freedom to ask relevant questions. Darwinist can refer to aliens, piggybacking molecules and mud soup but terminate any true scientist who questions the status quo. It is time for students to demand more of their teachers than party line answers with no discussion allowed. See the movie. Talk about it. Unless of course your boss will fire you for doing so.

Many of the critics come from the same ilk as Richard Dawkins and once you see his jaw-dropping melt-down at the end of the movie, you will understand the critics' perspective and why it makes them so angry. A great, must-see documentary.

Expelled was more powerful than I thought it was going to be. A lot of prejudice was exposed. This movie is about freedoms that are being taken away from Americans in the educational institutions. Ben Stein's un-emotional approach in talking with top scientists, educators, and philosophers is excellent.

Well done documentary. It doesn't resort to the "60 Minutes" style of manipulation or bias editing to achieve a conclusion. Experts on both sides of the issue are allowed large and unedited scenes to explain their point of view. As a result, the documentary arrives at an inescapable conclusion: there is a clear bias present in academia. Anyone with an open mind and a genuine concern for free speech and objective science will be alarmed.

If you want to know what is happening to not only our next generation but reasonable, well educated adults being denied the opportunity to THINK and research without predjudiced boundaries, then you MUST see this movie. It is NOT about religion and linking Intelligent Desine just to religion. It's about looking at facts and drawing inescapable conclusions. Darwin didn't have the tools available to our generation's researchers and I believe he would have come to a totally different conclusion if he had. I am appalled at the closed minds of our teaching establishments. I liken them to still believeing the earth is flat, or that the earth is stationary and everything relvolves around us. The closing inertview was perfect. The most ardent Darwinist, who claimed everyone who didn't believe the THEORY (i.e. not proven - even after 150 yrs!) was stupid (or words to that effect) had to admit that a "super power" might have created us! Intelligent Design? Hmmmm!

This was the first documentary I've ever seen in the theater. It is a must-see regardless of your position on the Evolution and/or Intelligent Design theories. It will open your eyes as to how closed-minded and mean-spirited some in the fields of science, academia and the media are to those who simply ask legitimate questions about one theory or who suggest that there may be another possibility. It's scary, but it will make any rational person think and it will no doubt cause those whom it exposes to act more irrationally and violently than they already do. This movie does not preach, it does not push any specific view point, it is not pro-Bible, or pro-Christian or pro-Jewish or even about Creationism as Creationism is thought of these days. It simply exposes some contradictions in the beliefs of some and exposes the double-standards applied to the reactions of some toward those who merely mention the possibility of Intelligent Design. This film was way overdue and I can't wait for the DVD. I will buy several copies to give to some friends that I know need to see it. I hope it does better than expected and I hope that those who made this film return with a similar film on the global warming issue. One is way overdue on that one, too! Go see this movie.

Speaking the unspeakable, Ben Stein did a refreshing and thorough job of exposing the fascist grip that has taken hold of academics in America. If you want to be better educated in spite of what many so-called educators claim, you will want to see this movie. Ben Stein did a very thorough job of building interest in the subject of freedom of thought and speech in this film. He was systematic in his approach to uncovering the truth in our politically academic society today, and revealing hidden agenda. There was enough entertainment in the film to capture and hold the viewers' attention. If you're a parent, grandparent, teen, young adult, and anyone else interested in keeping America a land of the free and brave, I recommend that you see this film! Thank you, Ben Stein, for opening our eyes and giving us some courage to stand up for what's right.

Intellectually stimulating with a humorous touch on a serious subject. I was astounded at the access Ben Stein had in putting this together. Hearing people explain themselves in their own words was immensely informative.

I went and saw this on Saturday with a few friends that were not hugely religious and was immediately thinking that this would be a bible type movie, which is something many schools lead you to believe when "Intellegent Design" is even mentioned. I personally believe in "Intellegent Design," but don't believe that it has to involve God overall. When I saw this movie I was very impressed at Ben and his way of expressing points without really taking a side. I especially like the end, when he corners that major Atheist scientist who basically says there is Intellegent Design by aliens, etc. I would recommend this movie to anyone, but you should be willing to have an open mind and not go in there immediately trying to disprove anything Ben says or finds out. I have never found an article that pro Intellegent Design believers ever base their articles on religion. All they ever say is something started life, but we just don't know what...yet.

The movie was a disturbing confirmation of how people in powerful positions are able to destroy someone's life using their personal opinions of an issue instead of allowing intelligent debate. Another troubling fact noted was how Hitler's masacre of so many people during WWII was basically born out of the Darwinian thought process and that he really believed he was doing a good thing. I hope this documentary motivates many people to speak up. All it takes for evil to flourish is for good people to remain silent.

This was a movie split in half. The first half, with the most valid arguments, was entirely a discussion of the firing and/or blacklisting that can be a consequence of professionals (in educational institutions and in the media) who discuss the concept of Intelligent Design. This is fairly even-handed, and Ben Stein (and the film editors) give a good amount of screen time both to the "persecuted" and to the accused. Very good, balanced, and interesting throughout. The second half is a bit less fair; it begins a bit of analysis of Darwinism, solicits a few opinions from supporters, but also does a bit more of a heavy-handed treatment of the subject. It does, rightfully, connect the National Socialist movement in Germany with eugenics (which was largely supported as an extension of Natural Selection) but seems to use this as a moral attack on the ideas of Darwinism and evolution in general. Throughout, Ben Stein's commentary keeps the pace of the movie enjoyable, and there are a lot of things to consider. In the end, it is reasonable to ask, why can't the I.D. people ask?
