One of the things that struck me the most after I left the theater was how accurate this movie stayed to the book. Although it skipped minor parts, the main events were as I remember them from the book. I was definitely excited when I heard that the Deathly Hallows would be split into 2 parts; this was definitely a good decision since it gives more room for the plot to play out! The sets were gorgeous and the overall feel of the movie was perfect as well. I can't wait until Part 2 next summer!

I'll say this: at least they got rid of the composer from the last two films.
I thought this film was average, at best. Just like HP5 and 6 (directed by the same person, David Yates), this felt more like a collection of small stories than a full arc. There was far too much camping, far too many beauty shots of the areas they were camping in, and not enough explanation of anything. Plus, with the exception of Emma Watson and Ralph Fiennes (and the girl who plays Luna), the acting was pretty meh.
You kind of have to see this movie to be a HP completist, but I really wish it had been done better. It was technically good, but the story suffered due to its length and the amount of abridging. Plus, while the final scene was very good, the one just before it (and most of the rest) was so empty of explanation and emotion that, if I wasn't a HP fan, I just wouldn't care.
So... average. At best.

I thought they did a real good job of turning the book into a movie. The movie was never boring! Some parts were funny some sad but alot of intensity. I'd say one of the greatest HP movies so far.

I loved the very first one, but then everything turned gloomy and too complicated. "The Deathly Hallows" is definitely an improvement, although it does contain a few disturbing scenes.

I liked it. I think it followed the book the most closely of all the Harry Potter movies. There was one slow part (as there was in the book), but otherwise excellent. I am eagerly awaiting the second part in summer 2011.

My 13 year old daughter and I have been looking forward to seeing the first installment of the Deathly Hallows since we were walking out of the theater after Half-Blood Prince (I even let her skip school to go to the first afternoon showing!) and we were not disappointed! I had just finished reading the book right before we went to see the movie and yes, there were parts switched around and I think Hedwig, Dobby and Mad-Eye deserved just a little more focus on their deaths, but all in all, we walked out of the theater ready to walk back in for the second part! My daughter has read the Harry Potter series at least 7 times and knew what was coming, but was already crying 10 mins before Dobby died! I think any Harry Potter fan is going to walk out of the theater loving this movie and wishing part 2 was done NOW!! We love you Harry Potter!

A fast 2 1/2 hours. The movie followed the book fairly well. Good to see a movie that is a sequel still have all the same characters that it started out with. I might just have to go see it again to catch everything that was in it.

Even with Hogwarts not as the background this was an excellent HP movie. You get to see a lot of growth in the three main character. Still waiting to see which side Snape is really working for. Can't wait for the last chapter next summer.

This installment in the series takes a serious turn but it is a refreshing change as the chemistry between all of the characters can be felt throughout. The action scenes are nice and the special fx are just enough to keep you interested. The only con in my eyes is that I felt it was drawn out at times just to make the movie playing time a little bit longer. Overall I would have to say that this is probably my favorite so far even if a little darker in theme.

This was a superb movie, taking us all to a new level with the Harry potter series. The kids have grown up and are facing a world growing increasingly dark and dangerous. For the first time, they must face it essentially on their own - handling danger and real loss as young adults and knowing that, if they fall, there is no one to catch them. Their strongest resources are the love and loyalty they have for each other. I highly recommend the film.

This is another great addition to the Harry Potter movies. My first thought was Warner Brothers was just stretching out the installments just to make more money but there was so much to tell in this book that it would be better told this way.

This movie is very dark and depressing. And scary. It pushes the PG-13 rating to the limit. There is a suggestive scene in Ron's imagination that involves a nude (implied- only their heads and shoulders are seen) Harry and Hermione kissing. And of course, the death of more of Harry's beloveds. It was my least favorite of the seven and my eight year old, who is a huge fan, hated it.

Although I am a huge Harry Potter fan, this was not one of my favorite installments. However, the plot did keep me into the movie the whole time and did leave me hanging at the very end. I thought I would have seen more battle scenes between the "Order" and the "Death Eaters", but I was sadly mistaken. It had me wondering, throughout all the other installments, Harry was always looked at as a great Wizard and it almost seemed like Hermoine had the reins most of the time in this movie. Overall, I was still very pleased and will be on my toes for part two!

Ok so like some other reviewer said, it's HP you can't hate it, which is true, but there are definitely points I didn't like. Mad Eye wasn't mourned as much and Hedwig was mourned by harry in the smallest amount of grief possible....there was a lot of weird moments between Harry and Hermione like there have been in the past especially the dancing.....and most of the movie was the two or three of them in the tent, yes that happens in the book but it occupied a good chunk of the movie...there's only so much of a random background and a tent you can take.....
Dobby's death was absolutely the saddest thing in the movie but besides the whole missing of Harry's house that's disguised as a war memorial and Voldemort to Godric's Hollow when Harry escapes out the window was big parts that they didn't touch on or with the radio how it was supposed to be Fred and George with the radio cast like in the book....
But over all it exceeded my expectations, definitely will be seeing it again at least 5 more times (lol) :D
Now, where is part 2?

Just as Ron would say "Wicked". this movie has it's dark sides to it, But way better than the last movie. I would strongly recommend families to go and see this movie. The Theater was packed even at midnight the second night. Yes unexpected surprises and twists to the kids and really moves you. if your looking for a film with all the emotional traits to keep you on the edge of your seat and cry on the persons shoulder next to you. Then laugh out loud then this is one to see.the last movie I fell a sleep this one I was glued to know what is coming next. They did this one right.

By far one of the best Harry Potter movies out of the rest. The movie covered the basic importance of the movies, including the little parts. The movie could have been darker, I expected more of that with the last book being wicked. The second half should be rated R... if it wants to elaborate more on dark scifi, it should be required to be rated R. Looking foward for the next one, can't wait! Definitely recommend this to anyone, even if they haven't seen the previous ones!

Others have said it, but I agree. This movie is very good. Maybe not perfect, but very good. Dark and foreboding, it sets you up for the next stage. I can't wait until July!

I've been waiting for this movie a while and have read this book at least 4 times. That being said, I felt that the movie was a good representation of the book itself. There were obviously things changed because they have no choice. However, it stuck closely to the story even if the events unfolded slightly quicker than fans of the series would like. I agree with some who say that Hedwig and Madeye's deaths seem to take a smaller role than they should have, but think of how quickly the 2-1/2 hour movie passed; how would they have ever gotten in everything? I think the next movie will be the ultimate culmination of the books and what all fans have been waiting for. The point where they ended the story was great, leaving nothing but action for the next one. I thought they did a great job and will be disappointed when the movies finally come to an end! At least I have my books to re-read when I need my Harry Potter fix!
