Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 was even more awesome than I had expected (and that's saying A LOT). I'm already thinking about going out and seeing it again....and I absolutely cannot wait for Pt. 2!!

Dont care what others say or people who claim it was not good...of course part 1 is a build up to part 2 that why ONE movie was split into 2...hello its giving the audience the story line and plot line to the next film and besides the point for those who truly read the book and are fans know that the first half of the book was just like the movie..a slow build up to whats coming up next..it was excellent well done..and and overall good movie

Let me just say that I've read all the books and I'm a Harry Potter fan, but this movie was such a let down. Wasn't prepared to be blown away or anything, but you really got the feel from this movie that a conscious effort was made to avoid upstaging the last movie (part 2). The first 1/4 (or maybe even half-hour or so) of the movie was good. The movie opens up with a bang, and there's some pretty good action. Soon after however, things quickly begin to die off. The movie drags on, the plot significantly deviates from the book and the attempts to create additional action scenes throughout were somewhat insignificant. Essentially, the movie opens up strong, plateau's throughout the rest and at the very end ends on an extremely depressing note. This wouldn't have been a real issue had the movie not dragged on. The last movie ended with Dumbledore dying (ending on a depressing note) but it didn't leave you with a bitter feeling because the movie was well done. If you're looking to compare it to another movie, I'd say it stays at about the same pace as the second twilight movie New Moon. When the movie was over on the opening day the audience was dead quiet, and it was a real awkward situation. Bottom-line, least favorite of all the movies in the series.

The movie is rightfully dark as are these sections of the books / original story. The idea that moviegoers will want to sit and watch 2 hours of different camping scenes in the same manner in the elongated, drawn out fashion, as readers have to with the books. If you need to keep up with the story you must watch the movie, but drink an energy drink or you will be snoozing during this flick.

Iam not much for reviewing anything but this movie deserves one . Generally movies from books dont come close or hold your attention through the whole movie this is an exception .
I am a fantasy fan but they have to be almost believeable and this movie is . I wasnt even upset the second part is almost a year away if I was the movte producers I would rereiease this one just before the new one comes out to bad this is the end

This has got to be the best Harry Potter movie I have seen yet. The series has developed into more of an adult genre in a sense. It appeals to both adults and children. Also the acting in the movie was exceptional. Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Ralph Fiennes have been fantastic in all of the the 7 of the movies they have made. The best thing about this movie is that it took the time to show attention to detail. I felt the some of the movies made in the past rushed through certain scenes. But I do admit that parts of this movie dragged along at times but it has to sometimes to make J.K Rowling book come alive on screen. Basically if you read the books you will enjoy the movie. Can't wait to see the next one next year!

I am glad that the last book was made into two movies. I wish the lag time between the first movie and the last movie was not so great, but this movie ROCKS!!! There was much more detail which made the movie a much richer experience. Wonderful.

Loved the movie. Wished we could've seen both parts right away. Had people in our group that tend to talk through movies, but watched intently the entire time and were surprised it was already ended. Quite engrossing for book fans.

I loved this movie. I am a big fan of Harry Potter, more so the books than the movies, and this was the best movie so far. It leaves at a great spot and I just can't wait for Part 2. Only downside, it wasn't in 3D.

The best of the Harry Potter movies, in my opinion, thus far. It will have you sitting on the edge of your seat throughout the whole movie. And when the end of the movie comes, you wish that the second part was already out. In all it was outstanding. In a way, I wish I just waited a year to see it so I could watch both parts at once! Even so, I am truly glad I got to see it. I wasn't a big fan of the previous movies, I enjoyed the books so much more, but this movie just blew me away completely.

It's best not to have reread the book just before seeing Deathly Hallows Part 1. The changes and deletions the director made will distract you
from enjoying it fully, although I felt that which was changed wasn't essential to the story. The film is well done. Visually it is true to the reader's imagination, and certainly amply dark.
Not a film for young children. It will be hard to wait till July for Part 2. The ending of Part 1 was handled well, but definitely makes one anxious for more.

I loved the movie. They finally tied in several subtle points from the books that are now extremely important, including wand lore. It also stays much closer to the original book than any of the other movies. This is also easily Emma Watson's best performance of the series. She has been amazing in each film so far, but this is an entirely new level. It's outstanding. I plan to see it again in the theaters (which I never do) and own it on video when it releases. I can't wait for the final movie!

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part One is, in my opinion, the best of the series thus far. The cinematography was fantastic, the musical arrangements fitting, and the acting was superb. You can truly see the maturity of the actors in the way the characters are portrayed in this film. There is a much greater range in the acting than in previous films, from subtle, emotional responses, to broad, intense reactions, the actors nailed it. In addition, it really follows the book quite well. The editing was far and above anyting we've seen. It was a wonderful movie and a great addition to the Potter universe. It was $10.50 well spent...and if I'm honest, will be $10.50 well spent again.

I was disappointed considering how good the book and the last two movies were. The main problem was that most of the movie featured Harry, Hermione, and Ron bickering alone in the woods. Appearances of other characters were mostly a blur. Unfortunately, these three actors/actresses, don't hold up very well on their own. They were selected at the age of 10, so who knew what they'd be like at 20. The best scene took place in the ministry of magic: very kafkaesque, but with clever humor mixed in. The end of the movie was a bit cliche. Maybe I was just expecting too much considering how good the last movie was.

I loved this movie and to me is the best they have made so far. If the second half stays as true to the story, exciting and emotional as this part, it would be worth the wait. This time there was no disappointment of the deviations from the book and all the changes/additions were nicely done. I think the director finally proved he was the right choice to bring the series to its end! All actors in general were good but I believe Ruppert and Emma really take this one home!!! I already have plans to watch it again and truly can't wait for the final piece of HP cinematographic history.

While 'Deathly Hallows I' has been rather a long time in coming, it was well worth the wait. The book is dense and difficult to move to the big screen, but the salient details were there.
I feel as if I've been watching my own wizard or witch children grow up through the series. They're young adults now and behave as such. It's suitably dark, as is the book, and the CGI were fantastic and plenty frightening.
My only disappointment was that Harry was not in disguise at Bill and Fleur's wedding and his discussion with Elphias Doge was unfortunately short.
It's a great movie, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it for young children. (Nightmares are a definite possibility.) I suspect that even people who are not Harry Potter fans could enjoy this one.

The book came out at a time whan I was bed-ridden with a back injury. I read the book in three days and I knew that A movie could do it no justice since it was such an elaborate story. I was pleased when I heard it was being made into a two-parter. Part One has remained very close to J. K.'s novel. Harry Potter-fan must-see, a great adaptation. Hopefully, Part Two doesn't disappoint, either If you haven't seen the other movies or read the novels, you'll be lost.

An avid Potter fan, I've always been quite disappointed with the movies. They weren't true to the book; they left out too many important parts; they added irrelevant scenes, etc. This one was awesome. While a few things were changed, it stayed remarkably close to the plot JKR created, and was hilarious, terrifying, sad, and just a lot like the book. Awesome cinematography as well. I plan on seeing it again soon, for sure.

the movie was one of the best ones yet. it was so dark and very closely resembled to the movie. i think the directors made an excellent depiction of the book, and nothing major was left out. i must commend emma watson for her performance in the bellatrix scene at the end. gave me the chills. overall, a really good movie

Exciting, fun, excellent comic relief...
A brilliant story retold in magnificent fashion. I haven't read the books, so the subplots can be a little confusing, but the general arc of the story is clear enough if you've seen the other movies. It doesn't matter how old you are, these are fun movies, worth the price of admission, and a great way to spend time with your 10 and up kids. See the movie, you'll be glad you did.
