The movies seemed to follow the book pretty well, other than leaving out some of the important details about the elves envolvement in the story. But overall is was an excellent movie. Very action packed (though some of the chase scenes were choppy). I love how the story has progressed and that the movies stick to storyline in the books for the most part. Love the screen adaptation & the acting!

I thought the latest installment of the HP saga was really quite good. Having become so addicted to the books that I finished them within seven days, I felt this movie held pretty true to the book and did a great job catching up the person who has not read the series (considering the movie for The Order of the Phoenix left out much of what was needed to comprehend what was occuring). Having expected the movie to just be one endless camping trip, I was pleasantly surprised and am very excited for the final movie to come out.

I brought my granddaughter to the Harry Potter theme park @ Universal in Fl in October and this was a great way to end that adventure. We thought it was amazing, a bit dark, but very true to the book. Can't wait for Part 2!

This movie did not feel like a "Potter" film, for it featured much more mature characters. No longer are Harry, Ron, and Hermione wizards in training, but now they are on the run for their lives, being able to trust no one.
While the book was fantastic, the movie felt rushed and confusing, even for a fanatic like myself. Some may find it lively and thrilling due to the MANY action scenes, but others (myself included) would say that the film could have been done A LOT better. Having anticipated this film for many years, I was a little disappointed. However, I am so excited for the second part, for its familiarity to Hogwarts is reborn.
Great action scenes, amazing cast (Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter steal the show), and an overall OKAY adaption of the novel.

Being a big Harry Potter fan, this movie did not disappoint. They tried to stick as much as possible to the book which was great, so you wouldn't keep thinking "they skipped part of the book!!".
All in all, the movie was great for any Harry Potter fan.Non-fans may be lost at times, so it helps to take someone who read the books with you when you watch it to explain if you miss something.
Production was outstanding as well as cinematography. Can't wait for Part 2!!!

What a fun movie! Every Fan of this story will not be disappointed. The graphics keep getting better and better, the story has surprises popping up here and there (especially for those of us who haven't read the book in a while). Definitely amped up to see the final flick, I'm expecting a lot of action. Can't wait!!

Ok, so, after having read all of the books and then seeing the movies and being slightly disappointed about what all got cut out, finally, we can watch a movie that follows the book! It is FABULOUS!! It follows the book well and although I hate that it is split into two movies, I would rather have that than have it all cut up. So, there are a few scary spots, one short scene that is sexual (although there is no nudity), so I don't think that younger children should see it. It is well acted and just a great movie. I cannot wait for the last one!

I enjoyed the movie immensely, but I cannot help but think I would have been better off waiting until the next one comes out and seeing the last two at the same time. You cannot tell me that some IMAX theater isn't planning on offering exactly that. SPOILER ALERT! I am wondering why the goblin was not there to see Harry bury Dobby. It is critical to his motivation for helping them get into Grigots. Can't wait to see what else was changed. I actually like it when the plot is changed slightly to fit the big screen. That way I do not always know what will happen next.;

This may be one of the best of the series for me. It is a beautifully shot film: dark, moody, and full of the angst of the the searcher. I haven't liked all of the movies in this series as it transitioned from a children's genre to something for the adults. I also came in with my doubts, knowing that the first part of book 7 has a lack of action - the mainstay of each of the previous movies in the series. The gorgeous backdrop of the British Isles is shown in all its glory and really is the star of the film. Daniel, Emma and Rupert all turn in grown up and nuanced performances that complement the story, backdrop and angst of being that age. The movie has sit with me a bit since leaving it a day ago. I'm tempted to see it again - something I almost never do.

This is the first HP movie I've seen in the cinema (I am almost 7). My favourite scene is with Bathilda Bagshot and the snake, and don't worry because it is not as scary as in the book. JKRowling has written some extra bits for the film which are not in the book and make the film even better! The audience was on the edge of their seats the whole way through the film and everyone cheered in the cinema when Dobby made his 'I am a free elf' speech. I loved the film, it is definitely the best Harry Potter movie so far and I cannot wait to see the final film next summer.

I've read other reviews that talked about how much darker this movie is compared to the others, and it's definitely true. There are deaths and less of the fun magic that took place in the other movies. Harry's fate and the fate of the world is at stake. I miss some of the mischief that Harry and his friends got into. it made the past movies more light-hearted and fun. However I enjoyed this move and can't wait for the last movie.

HP Year7 Part 1 had a more dark side compared to the other movies. The action starts at the very beginning and doesn't stop, along with the suspense and surprises at every scene. It was definitely the best one that has come out, and by the end you'll crave the next movie to the HP Series.

The director of this movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 also directed arguably the worst movie in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. See, the problem with that movie was that it tried to fit the entire book into a 90 minute movie, which caused it to not make very much sense of have an overarching plot.
This movie is amazing because it is an almost transcription of the book into movie form. He doesn't have to cut anything out, or squeeze it into a short movie, because there are two movies to the one book.
Yes, this movie doesn't have much of a plot, but if you saw the first half of any long movie, would it? It is mostly brilliant exposition with phenomenal characters and mind-blowing effects.
The score is out of this world, the composer of The Sorcerer's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets came back to create arguably the best score of the series.
I think what makes this movie one of -if not THE best movie of the Harry Potter franchise is that no sub-plot or detail had to be cut out or squeezed from the book.
Probably the reason that this is one of the best is that JK Rowling herself actually wrote the script, so everything fits and leaves the most particular Harry Potter fanatic fans leaving the theatre ultimately satisfied.

I'm so glad they decided to make the final book into two movies! I love that they have the details of the book. The movie is dark, but I like that they added some comic relief to stagger the mood and lift it a bit. Overall a great movie even if you're not a Harry Potter fan. It is great and amazing entertainment.

Although a few changes were made, the movie keeps the main points well. Has humor added into the dark scenes to keep the movie lighthearted, and everyone in the theater could be heard laughing. Overall a good movie, full of action and suspense, but also filled with sweet moments and humor as well. Oh, and the Warner Brothers logo with the harry potter theme playing? It's an amazing intro, I love it.

I am an avid reader of the books and overall I was quite happy with the movie. There were a few scenes that were not true to the book but it did not hurt the story. If I hadn't read the book then I would have had no complaints at all. Can't wait until part 2!!!!!
