This movie did an excellent job of being pretty-much true to the book. The BIG thing to keep in mind...this movie ends, more or less, in the middle of the book. That means that it ends in a dark place in the story. Give yourself time to recover, breathe, have a cup of tea, do something to relax.
This is my favorite of the series so far. Probably because it didn't feel rushed like previous Harry Potter movies.

This movie was very well done since the book was so long and you could only use half of it. There were a lot of laughing moments and reminiscing of the past which was enjoyable. I also was happy at the stopping point. I am exstatic to see the other half. I <3 this movie!

I did not want to read the book before I saw the movie therefore, I definitely say that this movie captured all of the emotions possible for Harry Potter and the audience to experience. The time felt like nothing once you walked out of the theater to realize you were in there for over 2hours. They did not have a traditional cliff hanger ending which is great. it was just enough suspense to want you to wait until July 2011 to see Part 2. GREAT MOVIE OVERALL.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I was absolutely awesome. While it had some dark moments overall it wonderful. The ending surprised me so I can't wait for the second part of the final chapter in the Harry Potter series.

It is tough to really get into a movie that you know only covers half the story and the slow half at that. Like the last movie you really need to have read the book to follow the movie. "Prince" didn't spend much time explaining horcruxes and :Hallows" assumes you know what they are and why they are important.
It seems like the director is more interested in getting the movie to be a convenient length rather than using them to expound the story.
If you are into the Harry Potter thing it is a pretty good movie. If not, you have to be one very confused person.

My 10 year old daughter has read the entire series three times and has seen all the movies. Watching this movie with her made it more real and enjoyable. It has been great watching the HP gang grow up through the movies. The level of graphics and the story lines have been intense and mystifying. Can't wait for Part 2. Sure helps to know something about HP before watching this movie.

This movie was true to the book. It had fabulous cinematography-the landscapes were spectacular! There was more acting in this sequel than special effects. This I felt was in keeping with the actor’s maturity and was thoroughly enjoyable. It contained all the elements of a good movie- It was funny, scary, and poignant. I did not notice the movie was long, as it kept me engaged right up to the end. Go and see it!

It has been a while since I have read the books, but I believe this one followed the book more closely than others. It is dark, but could you expect anything less given what is going on and how the previous movies have been going. A few chuckles tossed in here and there were not a distraction or out of place. I was on the edge of my seat at least half the time.

Lovers of the book series will really enjoy this movie. The producers altered a few things for time but overall the movie was very true to the book, some scenes were even better. There was subtle humor throughout, which is definitely a feat as how most of the movie (and book) is Harry and company blundering about with no idea as to what they should do. People who haven't read the books might be a little confused, because they did omit a lot of plot points in the previous movies and in this one, this is probably because they expected people to read the book first (i would definitely recommend it, because it is no fun to be the friend who has to bring the other up to speed once the movie ends, come on, its just common courtesy). All and all this movie may have been slow to start, but the book was as well. People who are expecting an action pact experience should probably just wait until it comes out (this isnt to say that there is no action, there is just more to it than that), but those who enjoy subtle humor and scenes that might just yank your heart out , enjoy!

This franchise has yet to disappoint! Yet another great installment and a great lead into the epic finale. This movie doesn't vere too far from the book, the parts they changed and added blended well with the overall theme and story. It had so many touching and emotional seqences. The acting was very well done, especially Emma Watson who shined in this film. Graphics and action scenes were excellent and a few scenes were pleasant surprises as far as how they were portrayed, such as the tale of the three brothers. The ending leaves you hanging on the edge of your seat with anticipation for the second part. Sad that this series is coming to a close but delighted in the artful and masterful way they are bringing things to an end. 5 STARS

I believe that if you want to keep up with whats going on, watch the Half Blood Prince before seeing it and if you have the time, read the last book. I saw this with someone that hadn't done either and though she enjoyed it, she wasn't sure what was happening in certain areas. Also, if you are one of those Potter fans that reminisce about Harry as a cute little boy, you may not like it.
Over all, this is one of my favorites out of the series. It brings out the history of many characters. The scenery was great. Have to agree with another reviewer that I wasn't crazy about the way it ended but can't wait to see it again and it's going to be a tough year waiting out for part 2.

I thought the Deathly Hallows was the greatest Harry Potter book, and so I had a huge expectation going into the movie. I was very satisfied.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was great because it was both loyal to the book and entertaining. This movie is bound to recieve some negative reviews because the story is designed to wrap up all the little plotlines and character backstories that were introduced throughout the series, but the deep characters and complex story was what set this series apart from some corny, rinky-dink children's fantasy movie.
Also, while it is extremely frustrating to have to wait for the continuation (as I would have gladly sat through a five or six hour screening) I both appreciate the fact that the producers decided not to cut out so many great subplots in order to make the 800 page book into a two hour movie and also the fact that making movies is expensive. So, I'll gladly shell out the cash for the next one. I just wish it would be released a little sooner!

The last 3 Potter movies were altered too much to fit the lengthy stories. This one, however, stayed truer to the book. Many of the battle scenes were shorter and less detailed than the book. Rupert Grint's (Ron) acting has greatly improved.

I think this one so far, is the best out of them all. I haven't finished reading this last book in its entirety but am such a fan of Harry Potter that I'm not sure it really matters. I'm excitedly waiting for Part 2. Definate recommendation to all.

I was worried about how much I would like this movie considering how disappointed I was with the 6th one. I shouldn't have worried it was awesome! I especially loved the early scene of trying to get Harry somewhere safe and the stuff at the Ministry of Magic. i would definitely recommend this to all (not just readers of the book) and I will see it again.

I thought Part 1 was very well done. The action was well paced and most importantly it followed the book very well. There were a couple of areas I would have liked them to do a little more explanation but I realize you can only fit so much in. I thought they chose an excellent place to stop the story. I would see it again!

HP series has continued to get darker and darker. This movie is definitely not for young kids. There were a lot of exciting parts and great special effects. There were a few amusing parts including the Weasley brothers and a dance scene with Harry and Hermione. There was also a great deal of death and destruction and examples of evil acts that could disturb children. I'll definitely go to next movie that wraps up the series as the movie was tremendously entertaining and worth seeing on the big screen.

Harry Potter is something that I have grown up with. The books first came out when I was a little kid and had to have my parents read them to me. It was a huge event every year when the new book would come out, and then when the new movie would come out. This series is fantastic because it grows with its audience. This isn't the cute little 11 year olds from the first movie. This movie followed the book almost to perfection, and had me gripping my armrests and shoveling down popcorn the entire time. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 is perfect for the die hard fans who have read all the books and seen all the movies opening day. It's also great for the people who have only seen the movies (like one of my friends that I went with). Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was amazing. Simply amazing.

From beginning to end it was an action packed ride. You can see how far the group has come since the Sorcerer's Stone. They aren't little kids anymore and the movie show cases this in the best way possible. A+ all the way around.
The only down side? Waiting until this summer for the conclusion.
