I've read all the books, heard all the books on tape, seen all the movies so far...this adaptation of the last HP book has been excellent - of course, the novels are so good that we would like to see everything put to film, but this was outstanding. That being said, I would have loved to see Dudley say goodbye to Harry, and some part of Harry's birthday celebration, I do not generally like the insertions of material that were not included in the books (the Half-Blood Prince was ruined by this); however, the most touching scenes of the movie included Hermione performing a memory charm on her parents, the way in which Hedwig was killed, and most of all, the dance scene with Harry and Hermione in the tent.
The feelings expressed (overtly and not-so-overtly) in and between each of the characters is amazing - you can actually feel their emotions and witness the depth of their character development. The actors are brilliant in their roles, and they continue to show us the evolution of the characters, and the actual filming in darker tones accurately reflects the inherent danger of the task they are undertaking.
If you only see one movie this season - let it be the Deathly Hallows - Part 1.

I can't wait to go see it again. The only downfall is that it leaves you unfulfilled just cause it’s only part 1. I had to go and read the rest of the book to feel better.

As always Harry movies are exciting and truely entertaining but it's not for little kids anymore. Harry and his friends have grown up and so too has the story line which is much darker and mature. Parent with little children (10 & under) should know that some parts are scary. My 13 year old son was surprised at how dark this moving was. Many young children in the audience were scared and at times board because of the mature story line.

The plot seemed to me somewhat haphazard. The main characters didn't seem to have a plan, know what they were doing. This first part of the movie was a little thin on the plot.

This movie was a classic experience! It reminded me of the ol' days when you had to wait in line and everyone was truly excited. As for the content...it was brilliant! so dark and brooding and it left you with such anticipation for the 2nd half. The part when Hermione and Harry danced was my personal favorite.

Let's be real - we all knew that HP7 both parts 1 and 2 would be gut wrenching. Well the Piper wants his bill and yes, HP7p1 is an emotional ride.
The imagery and the very real fact that the characters and the actors portraying them have grown up through the course of 12 years on screen with us.
I loved Hermione's role and how Emma Watson portrayed her strength. EW really carried this movie on several fronts. The production and direction were amazing and I'm very proud of how the story came to fruition on the screen.

Much darker than previous movies, but this stays true to the progression of the novels. There is great attention to the details of the book, which is much welcomed after many details have been left out of previous movies. It has been quite a while since I have read the last novel in the series, but was very pleased with this rendition of the first half of this book.
I am looking forward to the seeing part 2 in June!!

This was by far the best of all the Harry Potter movies. It was really true to the book, with a few liberties taken for time constraints. The acting was superb and the visiual effects were phenominal. I can't wait for the second part to come out in July.

This movie had me in tears and laughter from the opening sequence all the way until the final credits. Very strong performances by all of the actors - animated portions were a bit weak - possibly inappropriate, but this movie added more to development of the main characters than all others combined. Excellent!

We went to see it on Saturday afternoon and thought it was great. Really enjoyed the story sequence, but felt it was a little bit dragged out in a few spots. Great special effects and makeup. We were sad to see it end and can't wait for Part II - wished they had scheduled that for release not so far in the future.

Took my teenage daughter & her friend to see the movie...I can only say.... Wow! Couldn't believe when it ended that 2 1/2 hours had passed. There could have been more shown of the wedding and Godric's Hollow, Having read the books helped to fill in some blanks.
Overall, very exciting and what a dramatic ending! My daughter said she wasn't leaving the theater unitl the next one comes out..LOL

The 1st installment of the Deathly Hallows was even better than I anticipated. Generally the screenplays have a ton of changes from the original story line. This doesn't necessarily bother me since I recognize they can't be exactly the same, but I think the writers did a wonderful job with this movie. Outside of the obvious scenes that were added that weren't in the book, I think the majority of the elements stayed true to the book.

This film did the best it could to fit the first half of a VERY detailed book into 2.5 hours. The time flew by, and when I knew the end of part 1 was near, I wanted more, because it was doing a great job of keeping me entertained. I recommend refreshing yourself with the previous HP films and/or books before seeing HP 7.1, because like the book, they don't waste time explaining things. By this point, the producers expect their viewers to understand the language of the HP world (i.e. what is a Horcrux?). Because of this, I would imagine the first hour of the movie might be a bit confusing to viewers who haven't read the book. The action and special effects are great and the acting has improved a great deal over the years. I would definitely see this movie again and can't wait for HP7.2 to be released.
