This film did the best it could to fit the first half of a VERY detailed book into 2.5 hours. The time flew by, and when I knew the end of part 1 was near, I wanted more, because it was doing a great job of keeping me entertained. I recommend refreshing yourself with the previous HP films and/or books before seeing HP 7.1, because like the book, they don't waste time explaining things. By this point, the producers expect their viewers to understand the language of the HP world (i.e. what is a Horcrux?). Because of this, I would imagine the first hour of the movie might be a bit confusing to viewers who haven't read the book. The action and special effects are great and the acting has improved a great deal over the years. I would definitely see this movie again and can't wait for HP7.2 to be released.
Very funny. I laughed during most of the movie. Steve Carell was a great pick for Maxwell Smart and the Rock also played his role well. I was surprised how well Anne Hathaway pulled off 99. Great movie. Recommended for all.
