Although the movie was good in parts, it was too slow and drawn out in many other. You can tell that they just wanted to be able to split this final book into two parts to make more money. They could have easily cut the time of this movie in half.

Saw it with my teenage sons (who I read all the books to as bedtime stories) and my bf, who wasn't familiar with any of the stories or movies. My kids and I loved it, loved it, loved it! Two and a half hours went by too quickly, we wanted more. My bf just thought it was an ok movie. If you know the story, you will not be disappointed!

This was a throughly enjoyable movie. It was much better than the 6 movie and did a fabulous job at sticking to the book and refreshing my memory. I think that in a few scenes they could have expanded it a bit more, but I think im just saying that so there would be more to watch. I would absolutely recomnd this movies to anyone and everyone. It was totally worth the $8.50 I spent to see it on an ultrascreen. And to those of you who didnt like it, try to read the book and enjoy a movie for pure entertainment.

Overall I was disappointed in this latest installment. It was tedious at times and moved at a glacial pace. They could have cut 30 minutes from the movie to tighten it up and not lose any part of the story. Almost makes me not want to see the finale - almost.

i am a Harry Potter book fan and I was a bit skeptical about the last book movie adaptation. The book is long and very complex therefore splitting it in two movies was a great idea to start with. The first part of the deathly hallows book is pretty slow with a lot of descriptions and sub-stories and the major action is happening in the second part of the book. However, the movie Deathly Hallows part one has a right balance of action and narrative. It does get a bit slow and dramatic at times, but it all balances out with witty humor and unexpected thriller scenes.... the director, the screenwriter , the actors , the overall tone of the move , everything just seems perfect and very well done .... good job.... I am looking forward the second part ... even for non harry potter book fans the movie will be entertaining...

Having read all the books, I'm always eager to see the adaptation to the screen. There are so many things that I love about what was incorporated from the novel. At the end of the movie, I was left wishing the final movie was to immediately follow. It is very dark, but such are the times during the book. I saw it with someone who hadn't read the book and had to explain a few things as background, but he wants to see it again because there was so much going on. So impressed and looking forward to the action packed finale.

It's amazing to see the cast of characters develop as they're growing up. All are talented actors and the movie was so engrossing, it made the 2 1/2 hours go by quickly. I wouldn't recommend it for little kids - we sat next to a group of 7-8 year olds and one was crying at some of the scarier scenes. Loved the documentary style approach and I'm looking forward to Part II.

It is probably the closest to the book of any movie in the series to date. I can see where people who are not fans of the books could think it confusing or slow. These were comments I heard in the theater. There were a couple of moments in the film that didn't have the same impact they did in the book but overall it was a good set up to the final movie which should be really intense. I would see it again.

This adaptation of the book has been the best of the series so far. The important details are in the movie and the special effects are absolutely amazing. The way that the story of the Deathly Hallows is told truly pulls you into the story and makes you feel like you are in the movie. I can't imagine how great his movie would be in IMAX 3D. The movie definitely leaves you hanging and wanting more.

I really enjoyed this film. It was shot very well with nice effects. This film was about 2 hours and twenty minutes long. It just what I would expect from a Harry Potter movie but even better. The characters have matured and really stay true to the story. I think out of all the Harry Potter films so far this one is probably the most engaging to a widespread audience. Even people who are not familiar with Harry Potter would enjoy this film. I'm sure most Harry Potter fans like myself would agree.

This was a fantastic adaptation of the first part of the Deathly Hallows. It was by far the best one they've ever done. They left in all of the important stuff and kept true to the book without being entirely predictable to those who have read the books. I would not recommend it for young children however, there are a lot of dark themes, and there is a fair bit of blood and violence. There was a slightly sexual scene at one point, as well. Overall though, a really incredible movie. Anyone who read the books should definitely go to see this movie.

As a Potter fan, I truly enjoyed the screen adaptation. While not everything was brought into the film, this version was very well done. Very good CGI effects. The kids have truly matured and really make the characters believable and relevant.
Laughter scattered throughout the movie, I really enjoyed the break from the wizard wars, this is one of the top 3 in the series hands-down.

Harry Potter fans around the world should be proud of the actors and directors of the film "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1". Each actor gave his or her best performance ever, and the actual movie, with all of its effects, was fantastic. While other Potter movies may have deviated from the book's storyline on major parts, "Deathly Hallows" stayed true to the author's original work on all major plot points, only missing some very minor details. The movie was fast-paced for the most part, only slowing down at times when it is supposed to be slow, such as the days and months of running that Harry, Ron, and Hermione must endure while staying hidden from Lord Voldemort's trackers. This is the best installment of the Potter movie series since the "Sorcerer's Stone," and the build-up for the second part left watchers excited, but not feeling as if they were left a missing something. I highly recommend this movie to any Potter fans. However, if you have not read the books, or at least seen the other six movies, I would advise that you sit this one out, simply to avoid the confusion you would inevitably feel.

Having read the book, I thought they did a great job staying true to it. They included all the important stuff and really loved that they added the scene of Harry and Hermione dancing. It fit very well with what was going on. I really really like this movie, in fact I already saw it twice and absolutely cannot wait for part 2. I'm confident they won't disappoint us since there's only about 1/3 of the book left for part 2. Everyone should go see it!!!!

The story telling is great but if you haven`t read the book or just saw the previous movie you are going to be confused. Even though the movie is 2 1/2 hours long you could not tell, it felt like it ended abruptly.

I thought it was pretty faithful to the book, and I like the way they showed some of my favorite scenes. If you have never seen a movie or read the books, you might be confused, and the movie has no resolution, but that's to be expected since it's really only half the story. All in all, worth seeing on a big screen for fans of the series.
