Because the final story has been split into 2 parts, we accept there will be a cliffhanger ending. Having read the book a couple of times, I was pleased with how true to the book the movie was.
There is a lot of action and violence, as to be expected. The cliffhanger ending made me want to go back and re-read the book to know what to expect next summer.

So boring. Two and a half hours of yawn. If you read the book I understand why you might see it, but remember all the good stuff happens in the second half of the book anyways.

I thoroughly enjoyed Harry Potter 7--What fun and how interesting. I am in my 50's and I went with my 14 yr old son and his friend--We all really loved it! I loved the message, the story, the acting- one of those rare movies that is high entertainment and GREAT movie all rolled up into one. My son felt the same -- It was definitely a movie I will see again AND buy on DVD!

It was a great movie however if you are expecting to see the cute characters casting fun spells on their friends, this is not the movie you want to see. It is dark and intended for an adult audience.

As you see the trio, has involved in their personal relationships and their magic. A very nice addition was having some former characters returning for the final battle. The special effects were wonderful, and befitting going into part 2, you get the sense there is more to behold. A definite must see,even you are not a fan, you'll enjoy the movie as a cornucopia of characters, effects and backdrops.

The movie was very dark, but awesome. I had to turn my head for a couple of the scenes. I was holding my 10 year old sons hand because I was scared. I had read all the books twice and still I was on the edge of my seat. It is a must see. Go with a friend!

While this movie doesn't have all the creativity and splendor of the other installments, it nonetheless is satisfying to true HP fans. If you were unfamiliar with the storyline it would seem to creep along during the long middle section in the woods when it is just the three protagonists, but for those of us prepared for this segment of the story, it was immensely satisfying. I am always pleased how closely the movies stick to the book, in terms of plot and dialogue. The segment in the Ministry is brilliant.

I've been waiting for this movie and was not disappointed. Loved it! Listened to the book on CD before seeing the movie and believe it helps to understand fully what is going on. Sometimes found it difficult to understand the spoken words though. Saw it in IMAX which great.

A little shocked hogwarts wasn't showed at all in this one but I'm sure part 2 will have alot. I am impressed with the whole film. Speechless actually...I'm glad I have lived in the Era of Harry Potter. JK Rowling is brilliant.

My 5 year old granddaughter made me a fan about 1 year ago. I have been enthralled with the depth of each character from all the movies that were previously made. The Deathly Hallows Part 1 was no exception to the previous movies as it had excitement and energy that kept you on the edge of your seat. The actors in this movie remain masters of their characters. I saw Deathly Hallows on opening day with my granddaughter and we were both rewarded with a great performance. Neither of us (she is 5) can wait until part 2 this summer. We are with you Harry and Friends as you defeat evil!

This is a movie not only for new Potter fans but old as well. The characters are mature now, with more developed personalities. Action and special affects are great.. and the end is so very touching.. that even the hardest heart will say that Dobie stole the show!!!!

In my opinion, the best Harry Potter movie yet! The scripting & acting was excellent, very dramatic with some comic relief thrown in to lighten the mood at times. For someone who hasn't read the book I can see that they might consider the middle to be a little bit slow but even to my fiance (not a Harry Potter fan) it didn't really matter. For all of you who did read the book, the movie stays very true to the storyline which made me extremely happy too. Highly highly recommend - go see it!!

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this. The scenes were incredible, and the movie included most of what we thought should be included from the book. Going to be hard to wait for the 2nd half, but if it had to be split in two, the spot chosen to end the first half was perfect!

I have been a fan of Harry Potter since elementary school when I read the books, and now being able to see Deathly Hallows on the big screen is amazing! The only problem I had was that it left out information that is important, but I'm guessing that they are saving it until part two because it has to do with what happens later. Overall, great movie!

The movie was fabulous. I have read the book twice and was wondering how they would "split" it into two. It was an excellent place. There were great transitions between all of the sections, so if you hadn't read the book, you could still follow. It was a masterpiece. Can't wait until July!

from a reader's standpoint, I give this an B+ for some random plot holes and brief mentions of major plot lines-- but from a movie standpoint, this was great! There is a lull in the middle (that was also present in the book) where the aimless wandering becomes a little boring, but is visually beautiful. Once the action happens, though, it keeps you on the edge of your seat!
With a different shooting technique, it makes you feel that you're right there fighting alongside the threesome! And can I just say how thrilled I am that the entire cast is made up of the original players!
One more to go to close up the series... I might have to go see it all again!

the cliffhanger ending will have you anticipating the next movie even more. If not, you'll still know what's going on if you've seen the previous movies. Well directed as usual, and the filming locations are some of the most dramatic yet in the Potter series.

Not being the total Harry Potter fan, I very much enjoyed the depth of this movie. Everything about it is beautifully staged with rich detail throughout. The pace is a bit slow but the visuals are so great that I didn't care.
A 2+ hours long you might think that you would be waiting for the end, not this movie.
British accent gets in the way for this old man on occasion, otherwise great entertainment.
Watch for the 3 Brothers animation.

HP fans will love this movie! Intense, emotional, scary, sad, romantic...everything the book is!! My ten-year-old daughter liked it, and only looked away when Dobby died. Thank God for the Weasleys for providing comic relief!!

This is the movie that readers of HP have been waiting for. I wish they had given as much detail and stayed as true to the books in the previous movies. I love it that they are breaking the Deathly Hallows into two episodes. Can't wait for the grand finale!

This was a good movie, not as good as past ones. I'm not sure I liked the directing (or editing) as much as past HP movies, there were way too many fade to black going on. Not sure why Harry showed up as himself at the wedding instead of a Wesley cousin, I would think that would be key not to be found out. But in the end, no matter how bad any of these movies could have been, we love Harry, Ron & Hermione and will always love the movies with them in it.

So, I have been an avid fan of Harry Potter since the first book and I have generally loved all of the movies. My one comment about the last two movies is that many important things were cut out and then things that weren't in the books were added. I would prefer they stay true to the movies instead of changing the stories with new scenes. The destruction of the Burrough in HBP that seemed to never happen when you see it again in TDH and the waitress scene in the diner were both unnecessary. Also, why is there this new romantic tension with Harry and Hermione both with the dance and the "virtually nude" locket scene. David, this is not Equus. It seems like Yates is a little obsessed with the "sexualizing" of these characters as he explained as his reasoning for the waitress scene.
I hope there is a return to the book in the final movie and no more sexually charged additions by Yates. These stories are too good to have important things left out and extraneous items added by a writer and director.

I am a total HP fan. I started reading the books when I was commuting into the city and found them quite entertaining and full of imagination. The movie I saw last night was incredible. Having watched a bunch of documentaries on how the sound effects and music are built into these movies made me even more aware of the complexity of this series. This movie was full of action, drama, and intensity and was very true to the book. I cannot wait for the ending and will start reading the 7th book again, just to remember how it does actually end. And, I will probably go see the movie at least one more time before it leaves the theaters.
