The newest Harry Potter movie was closer to the books than any of the previous movies, which was wonderful. They did leave out a couple things, including the pouch Harry used to keep his wand, the snitch, and the mirror shard in, but it was very well done all around.

This movie was well done and the time flew by. My only criticism was that the ice was only an inch thick and no one could walk on ice like that without falling through.

I really liked this Harry Potter. Great special effects, especially the "morphing". The Ministry was much more as I had pictured it than in previous movies. The ending was great, just enough to set up the last movie without being a big hype to the next film.

This movie keeps you focused on the story rather than the clock. Although 2 1/2 hours long, you never tire of it. In fact, I was frustrated it was over. Can't wait for the next part!!!

Dark and light, ponderous and sprightly, funny and somber. The acting is good, the scenery luminous, and the pace just about right. At times the book bogged down in interminable battle scenes; the movie glides along, giving each scene enough time to blossom but no more. I can't wait, but must, to see part II.

I had just reread the 7th book, so I knew what to expect story-wise, what I did not expect was how well it was depicted on screen. The emotions that made the 7th book so gripping translated to the screen quite well. Aside from one awkward cringe inducing scene (which was exactly how I felt when I read it in the book), it was a pleasure to watch - even when it made me cry.

Yates made all the right moves with this one, staying as faithful as possible to the story, applying the style started with Cuarón's Azkaban with the best results since, and eliciting wonderful performances from his actors. Rupert Grint is the most consistently good of the three, but there were many nicely played moments from Radcliffe and Watson as well. Also, the CGI is great this time, especially with regard to the house elves, which have been pretty cartoony up until now. Well done on all counts. The second part can't get here soon enough.

I really enjoyed this movie, as I have all previous Harry Potter movies. I've also read all of the books, so I'm writing this from the viewpoint of a fan. But I've been going to movies all of my life and I know a good movie from a mediocre or a bad one. This is a good one.
The movie stays faithful to the book. The movie isn't as fast-paced in some places as earlier movies, but that's because of the way JK Rowling wrote it. The cinematography is great, as are the special effects. The characters are interesting and realistic (in a magical sort of way). You really get into the feelings of Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they struggle against incredible odds and incredible evil.
Because of the loudness of the movie
and some intense action scenes I wouldn't take a very young child to this movie. I give it four stars out of five.

For humor, I also rate it #1 of all HP moves so far.
As an HP book reader, most HP movies have been a bit of a disappointment, but Deathly Hallows part 1 was shockingly great.

This movie would be hard to follow if one hadn't read the book. It has high production values but is very dark, both cinematically and by content.
I couldn't help feeling the great oppression that has been Harry's burden through his entire life. Although it is long, it held my attention throughout. The special effects are, as usual, dazzling, but I left feeling unsatisfied. Perhaps, that is because the story is to be continued.
I think most people will like this film, but because they are Harry Potter fans they may be more willing to overlook faults in the quality of the film itself.

For anyone following this series this movie was incredible and all that I expected. I have heard several others complain about some small things that were left out but if you follow the books then you know what is there or should have been there. All in all this was the best movie so far. Very true to the book (aside from the few that seem to be a bother to others). I am only sad that the adventure is almost at an end and that I have to wait 8months to see the rest.
