It wasn't the best movie I have ever seen and definitely glad I didn't bring my partner but it was fun non-the-less. At first I thought I was going to be watching High School Musical but then settled down to a fun movie. Worth it just to see the guys dressed up at the end when the credits were rolling!

So silly - could have been so much better mainly with choreography - But Still So Much Fun. I loved that Pierce couldn't sing. It's like my dream, everyday people bursting into song and me joining in. The music, the plot, silly, silly....but So Entertaining. The theatre was full, people making fun of it, but there was applause at the end.....We unsophisticated, tasteless masses really enjoyed it.

Saw it last night (7/19) with a friend and LOVED it! The music is great. Pierce definitely not a great singer; but played a great part. Meryl Streep has an incredible voice (surprised!). Probably more appreciated by middle-aged women; but there were some men in the audience who seemed to enjoy it too. This one is definitely one I'll buy!

It was a great pleasure to see the movie, having already seen the stage performance. It was very uplifting, pure enjoyment, ligh hearted and thoroughly entertaining. Was surprised that Merle Streep could sing. The settings were enjoyable. Nine of us went to see the show and will be seeing it over and over, including in the future purchasing the DVD for more fun. Had seen the play in NY and Atlanta and was afraid the movie could not live up to the joy one feels at the play. Thanks to Meryl Streep the movie is as good if not better than the play. Well worth your time to go see this movie. It was on my must see list, and I am not disappointed. I love the music of Abba. The cast is wonderful, especially Meryl Streep. Despite David Edelstein's review on CBS Sunday Morning - I loved the movie and found myself smiling all the way through. You see real people which makes it more beautiful - meaning all shapes, sizes and looks. A relief from airbrushed, size 2, implanted, 6-packed bodies. Yeah, yeah, Pierce Brosnan isn't perfect in the vocal area, but it fits and works. Personally I think this is not just a 'chick' movie. There is dialogue and humor and a male aspect that would appeal to all. I knew some ABBA songs from the radio, never bought their albums, and found the songs quite fun with great lyrics because they fit the movie. Especially the song, "Slipping Through My Fingers" 'cuz my daughters are in college & grad school finding their own way...Anyhoo - a great way to spend a light hearted afternoon or evening away from negative news, stress from work or life in general.

It was excellent. It wasn't too long, or too many songs. Having the stars that were in it, sing, made it more enjoyable. It was a great beginning and an even better ending. Don't compare this musical to "Guys and Dolls", compare it to what makes you happy. This made me happy.

Overall a good movie. There were some difficult moments (any point where Pierce Brosnan is singing, really) and the ending was slightly different from the stage show. The scenery was beautiful and you can't help but tap your toes during most of the film. I was impressed with the vocal talent of the actress that plays Sophie and Meryl Streep.

*screams* I loved it! It was soooooooo great. It was almost word for word from the play with a few minor changes and some condensing. It was so much fun!! This is not a kids movie! There are adult themes, sex jokes, physical comedy with sexual tones. Everyone did so well. Okay, the audience did laugh at one person's performances, but it worked! Very, very entertaining!Who knew Meryl Streep could sing so well? Pierce Brosnan tried to sing, but didn't pull it off as well. The movie did not follow the play exactly, but did not stray very far. In addition, it also satirized movie musical production numbers, while not sacrificzing the plot. Very enjoyable and worth spending the money to see on the big screen rather than just waiting for it to come out on DVD or cable.

This movie was a blast. Meryl Streep was fantastic, don't listen to the critics. Her voice was very good! You could tell everyone in the movie was having such a great time making this movie. Also, not sure exactly where it was filmed, but the scenery is breathtaking. It takes place in Greece, so I assume it was there, but not sure. Saw this the day it came out. Look forward to seeing it again and buying the dvd. Meryl Streep was wonderful! For a good time movie, go see Mamma Mia! You'll come out smiling and laughing. OH, and stay for the credits!
