I've seen the play twice, and the movie is a little different, but equally fantastic! Better in some ways, funnier in some ways, fills in details missed in the play, and has a bit of additional music. Of course nothing can replace the live music and energy of the play, but this movie is SO MUCH FUN!!! I LOVED it and can't wait to see it again!!!

We loved it! The Broadway Show was strictly about the music but this added beautiful scenery and developed the characters better. Streep is superb and Brosnan manages to get by in his singing. This is the first movie in years that as soon as I walked out of the theater I wanted to get back in line and see it again. Unfortunately the rest of that night shows were sold out, so I had to wait until the next day to see it again. Hysterical. If you are looking for pure cheesy fun...this is your movie. Streep and her girls are fantastic...the rest of the cast does an OK job (Brosnan does well as long as he isn't singing...and then his poor face is more comical the more serious he tries to be). Just a complete miss that left you cringing for the actors, especially Ms. Streep, who I can't BELIEVE would take part in this nonsense. Yes, the scenery is beautiful, but the attempt to capture the magic and excitement that you experience at the broadway production is lame at best. Poor, handsome, loveable, TONE DEAF Pierce. Good thing Meryl did most of the singing during their shared scenes... Maybe I was just not in the right mindset, or my expectations were too lined up with the stage performance, but this was a true disappointment. I don't think I'd even recommend to "wait 'til it comes out in DVD".

How can you not love the score and the scenery!!! After seeing the musical on stage a movie is never quite as good...this was no exception, but it came pretty close!!! From the opening to the finale, this movie was a bright spot in today's world of economy, war and election. The theater was packed which only added to the enjoyment, I'm sure more than half sang along to all parts of the movie. The cast all seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves making it seem less like a movie and more like a peek into a real life story. We didn't encounter anyone who did not thoroughly enjoy the show as we left the theater and today as we spoke with friends planning to attend today.

This movie was truly awesome! I saw it with my 9 year old daughter and 11 year old neice. It was very fun for both of them too! We saw it Friday and then took my sister & 66 year old mother with us on Saturday. We all loved it! It really was a feel good movie that just made my whole weekend feel fun! Some of our favorites are Hairspray, Grease, Footloose, High School Musical, but this is by far better than those. Loved it!

This movie was so entertaining, had beautiful scenery and an excellent cast!!! We sang, danced (yes in our seats) and clapped along with everyone in the theater through the entire film. They did all of their own singing. God love Pierce. His singing isn't the greatest, but he's so darn hot. Ooolala! I was wondering why Meryl Streep was playing the "mother" role. Well now I know. She was excellent. In such great shape and has a beautiful voice. LOVED IT! See it!!! See it many times.
