I saw this movie over the weekend and thought it was fun and admirably sung by it's players! The dancing in the film isn't exactly broadway quality, but for someone who wasn't looking for, the dancing doesn't take away from the film.
Amanda Seyfried was very good, especially with having to go head to head with the acting heavyweights in the film.
One thing, I'd like to point out to people who tend to arrive late to a movie - DON'T. You'll be completely lost and you wouldn't be able to catch up if you miss the beginning.

I think that Mamma Mia was a good movie but it had a slow start. I think the girl who played Sophie was a very good actress. She was fantastic. On a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 7 1/2. The movie made me want to get up on stage and sing.

What a fun fun fun movie. The actors did a marvelous job in portraying the parts. Meryl was WONDERFUL and has a wonderful voice; she should get an Oscar. It was OK that Pierce couldn't sing, he looked great! I will see it again and will buy the Movie when it comes out for sale. I saw it at the Drexel in Bexley and they added to the fun! I saw this movie over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Meryl Streep is fabulous (I never knew she could sing and dance!!) The entire cast was well suited for each of their roles. Let me preface my review with the fact that I am not an ABBA fan and was dragged to this movie by my teenage daughter. What a pleasant surprise!! Meryl Streep is my new idol for how to be a graceful, beautiful, passionate older woman, very refreshing. Christine Baranski always makes me laugh as does Julie Walters and they do not disappoint here. The scenery is gorgeous and Sophie is luminous. I loved Bill and Harry but I couldn't quite enjoy Pierce Brosnan as Sam. He didn't "fit" and he can't sing! Otherwise, a delightfully fun time.

It was a great movie - I was dancing in my seat the entire movie. There were 3 teenagers next to me (I am 48), that also had a blast! The movie is good for all ages, and the message is positive. If you have seen the play, you will be disappointed. The main characters were too old to play these roles, Pierce Brosnan cannot SING, the staging and dancing was horrible, and the father characters were not developed in any way to be interesting. The music was, of course, great but again was not fully developed in areas, just snippets of background music. The daughter was endearing and beautiful, just as the scenery was spectacular, but overall, I was disappointed with the outcome and expected much more. The one bright spot was Julie Walters who was hilarious.

Wonderful movie musical. Actors did a fantastic job in the characters they played. Good story about life that everyone can relate to. Humor, Music, & Life itself. Seeing our actors in a singing role from the normal roles they play was a nice surprise. Great voices! Found myself tapping my feet to the music, feeling their sadness, confussion and cheering them on in their most difficult times. I truly recommend this to any individual to see the actors themselves and the uniqueness each brings to the screen. Incredible,

My husband went with me, just to be nice. We thought it would probably be a "chick flick", but he enjoyed it as much as I did! It was a fun movie, full of laughs, and kept our attention throughout!!

I had seen the play twice, and was excited (and nervous) when I heard a movie was in the works. I just didn't want them messing it up! I've always liked Meryl Streep, and she certainly didn't let me down this time, with her performance in this film. Every song she sings is flawless, and you can really see her emotion when she sings 'The Winner Takes It All'. I've seen the film twice now, and enjoyed it as much the second time as I did the first. I was smiling from the beginning until the end. It is just a feel-good movie, and we need that in these trying times. If you don't like ABBA music, there is an excellent chance this movie won't be your cup of tea. For the millions of people around the world that do like the music, though, they've done a fine job with this film!

I have seen the production of this 2 time, which both times were equally great, and now the movie was awesome! The Sound Of Music was my favorite musical, until Mamma Mia, this is my all time favorite.
