I loved this movie! Just like the trailer says, "As soon as the movie is over, you'll want to see it again." I seriously considered buying another ticket and seeing it for a second time the same night. If you can't smile through this whole movie (except for one scene that I cried), you're either dead or need some serious antidepresants. It was a bit painful to see/hear Pierce Brosnan sing but he was entertaining. He did look a bit uncomfortable everytime he sang. Meryl Streep and the girl who played her daughter were great!

I saw the play a few years ago and there's just no comparison. The character development between the three women was totally missing. And watching Pierce Brosnan sing was painful - every time he opened his mouth we started laughing. The only thing good about the movie was the scenery, which was absolutely beautiful. Other than that, don't waste your time or money.

I laughed til I cried at the kitch, and at Pierce Brosnan's hysterical attempt at a singing role in a musical. I don't know if his casting was purposeful or not, but he was so pathetically unconvincing, it had me rolling in the aisles. Loved Meryl, Amanda, Colin, and other stars...Enjoyed this thoroughly. Best movie laughs this year.

From beginning to end this was a truly fun movie, which I would recommend. The music was awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by who was singing in it, and actually sounding very good. I laughed a lot. My overall impression was that the actors were having a whale of a good time doing this movie! It made me want to be there with them. The scenery was outstanding! I've added a Greek Isle to my list of desired vacations. I want to see this movie again, and will buy the DVD when it is available.

I read a bad review, but loved the play and with the cast I just had to decide for myself! I was NOT disappointed! OK - so Pierce can't sing and some of the dance moves were a little bit jerky. It was fun and funny and everyone (well, the women, anyway) walked out of that theater with a smile on their face - young and old.

We saw the dark knight on Monday and Mama Mia on Tuesday. The dark knight is very well done and will appeal to all action fans. However, it will not have you leaving the theater singing and dancing. That's how my husband and I felt when we left mama mia on tuesday. It's a whole lot of fun and very uplifting in this time of high gas and food prices. This is a movie you can see over and over. Having seen the stage play in Las Vegas twice, I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously, the realistic nature of the scenery was wonderful. I am thrilled that Benny & Bjorn did not let the screenwriters stray from the original script. Excellent movie!!!!

What a let down! Who cast this movie? Meryl...come on? You are an amazing talent but not a musical actress and too old. And the guys? Pierce B. so cute, but not when signing! I went to see this movie with my 12 year old daughter. We both loved it, my daughter loves musicals and knew most of the songs to this movie already. It was upbeat and funny and we found ourselves clapping between songs and routines ( the whole theater was doing this without realizing it.) We had a great time and will go see it again.

I love the broadway show. I paid $50+ twice to see it. Listened to the soundtrack all the time. Waited in anticipation for this movie. Wished ti was over only 3 minutes after it began. Honestly, I have never wanted to leave the theatre during a movie I genuinely wanted to see. It was awful. The acting was over the top. Over the top can be funny, but it passed that point. it was awkward. And it was unneccesarily raunchy. Meryl STreep was writhing around on top of a roof touching herself to the title song. And it's a cute sound. I could get over the sub-par singing (pierce Brosnan, ahem) but there were so few good moments. So sad.

It was the best musical I have seen in a long time. My husband does not enjoy musicals, but the music from ABBA, I found him tapping his toes and hands to the music. He stated after the movie that he really enjoyed the film, that it was uplifting and it kept you interested and excited thoughout the entire movie. Never expected this to be as good as it was. Total "feel good" movie. The story line, the actors, the music.......all of it awesome. Meryl Streep played the role of a lifetime. Julie Walters was fabulous!

This movie was great...........loved the music, the scenery and the cast was outstanding. I loved it as much as the play...........Meryl Streep was fantastic..............I could watch her all day.

I loved this movie--I felt like I had been given a miraculous gift of sunshine! Came out of the movie theater smiling inside. Lovely and fun--and, I truly loved the 3 baby-boomer women singing and having a GREAT time!!! I can't wait to see it again!!!!!!

I'll be the first to say that, as both someone who grew up on ABBA music, and who loves the musical theater scene, I had my doubts about the success of this film. After all, the live production of "Mamma Mia" works so seamlessly on a stage set, that it seemed almost unneccessary to expand the story to the big screen. However, I must report that I was delightfully surprised and pleased with this rendition of the musical story. Much to their credit, all the actors do their own singing, which is right on par with the Broadway actors who would portray the roles on stage. While I still think Meryl Streep is a bit too old to portray the love child-bearing character of Donna, she definitely pulls off the role with believability and heart, and the three lead men are equally charming and endearing in their portrayals. Bits of the story deviates from the stage production, some of the songs are out of sequence, and some are completely absent, however 90% of the story is comparable with the stage. The sets and costumes match those used on stage, and scenes expand into fun montages and a wider scope of location than would be possible in the confines of the theater. Those who have seen the stage show will be happy to know that a similar kind of musical ovation follows the close of the film. Overall, "Mamma Mia" is a delight that will have you dancing in the aisles.
