So Much Potential...so much disappointment

I love the broadway show. I paid $50+ twice to see it. Listened to the soundtrack all the time. Waited in anticipation for this movie. Wished ti was over only 3 minutes after it began. Honestly, I have never wanted to leave the theatre during a movie I genuinely wanted to see. It was awful. The acting was over the top. Over the top can be funny, but it passed that point. it was awkward. And it was unneccesarily raunchy. Meryl STreep was writhing around on top of a roof touching herself to the title song. And it's a cute sound. I could get over the sub-par singing (pierce Brosnan, ahem) but there were so few good moments. So sad.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
