Saw the stage play in Boston. Loved it. But, the movie was "fab". Was surprised Meryl Streep could sing and sing well. If you love music you will love this movie. Leave the show feeling up-lifted and unlike Chicago which was great but left you wondering if you would like men ever again. Scenery left me wanting to visit that island soon! It is absolutely pure genius to get all those songs into one story...

This is a fun, enjoyable movie. Not with standing the ABBA music, it is an excellent screenplay. The acting/singing is superb by all. Would I go and see it again? In a heartbeat. Have never seen the stageplay, but plan to when I go to Vegas next year. You will definitely enjoy yourself by going to see this movie. It is uplifting, colorful, and lighthearted. If you don't tap your feet to beat of the songs, you'd better see a Doctor---cause you may be comatose.

Having grown older to ABBA music and after seeing the stage show, I was sure I would enjoy the music but unsure how this cast would meet my expectations. The movie just enhanced my enjoyment of the Mama Mia experience. While some of the singing was a bit weak, it was skillfully covered by instruments and chorus work. The casting was inspired and the photography was magnificent. This movie can be enjoyed by all ages from six to one hundred and six.

I am a complete ABBA-freak, so I knew Mamma Mia was on my must-see list, but I was completely blown away by the film. The cinematography is incredible - loved the beautiful scenery. The cast is absolutely superb - especially the legendary Meryl Streep, (who excels at comedic moments as well as everything else) and relative newcomer Amanda Seyfried! BUT the MOST FUN part about this movie was how much fun the audience was having. I honestly don't remember the last time I laughed that much during a movie and it was so great how everyone in the theater was singing at the top of their lungs during many of the scenes. Don't miss this movie on the big screen... it won't be the same watching it at home alone!!

I saw this movie with my wife and young adult daughter. We all enjoyed the movie immensely. It is a romantic fantasy, comedy and musical all in one, with excellent acting by Meryl Streep and the rest of the cast. I was impressed that the music was not lip-synched, but rather sung by the cast. It is a wonderful diversion for a summer afternoon or evening and it leaves us all wondering about what would happen if we reunited with a love from a different time in our life. I am a musical junkie, so couldn't wait to see this show. The singing isn't always the greatest, but it's still fun and has lots of energy. Meryl Streep can do anything and Pierce, well, he was credible as her long lost lover. Excited to see women playing perhaps someone a little younger instead of always casting young people in older roles. Great fun! My husband loved it, too.

I LOVED Momma Mia! It was hilarious from start to finish and it really kept you interested from beginning to the end... Yes, you do have to be an Abba fan to love this movie...and in looking at the 99% female viewers at the theater I attended--yes, this is probably a chick flick....but what a feast for eyes and ears. I can't believe I'm saying this was even better than the stage show...despite Pierce Brosnan's well-maligned singing...hey, he wasn't completly awful and he's still great to look at. The on-location filming in Greece put this one over the top for me.
Meryl Streep again showed why she is a great actress. Her rendition of Winner Takes it All brought tears to my eyes....I've never heard it sung so well.
My only disappointment was the audience who sat around like stones at the end and didn't get up and dance and sing as they were leaving as occurred when I saw the theater production. Maybe pump up the volume a bit at the end..it was pretty tame.
Great Great movie. Nice watching for mother and daughters.

Probably one of the most enjoyable movies I have ever seen. Going back tomorrow to see it for the 3rd time [my daughters 5th]. Loved the music and everything else about this movie. Go see it, you will leave singing and feeling life is worth living another day.

I thought, as a musical, goes it was fun and the movie didn't take itself seriously. Sure, they could have casted with serious talent for the singing, but it was okay. I gotta hand it to the cast for giving 100%. Considering the location, I would have sung my heart out as well just to be there. Go with no expectations. Go with the idea to relax and enjoy a feel good movie that isn't sappy. It served it's purpose and I highly recommend it.

I absolutely loved this movie. It was alot of fun and if I had had the time I would have sat through the movie again right afterwards. The music was great and the actors/actresses appeared to have had a great time in making this movie.
