When my daughter and I first saw the trailer, she told me she had read the book and wanted to see it. She wasn't enthusiastic but she still wanted to go. I was thinking, "Oh darn! They've ruined another book and I'll have to sit through it." Nothing could have been further from the truth. The movie was hilarious! I laughed the whole time and afterward. The casting of the voices was spot on. Bruce Campbell as the mayor and Anna Farris as the heroine were the highlights of the movie for me and each should think of doing more voice work. The pacing was excellent and there were no "throwaway" scenes or characters. Definitely buying the DVD...

I am very particular and picky about which movie I want to watch. I took my six and four-year-olds to see this with my Mom last night. We all enjoyed it. There was a bad word or two (I recall "butt") but otherwise it was good. The boys laughed out loud a lot and it was entertaining for the adults.

My children's (ages 14 & 8) opinion of this film ranged from bored to stupid to some parts were funny. I definitely laughed out loud a couple times in the beginning of the movie. I realize there was a "father/son" delimma that was playing out, but not sure why the mother died (didn't appreciate that part of the story). I had friends tell me before I went to let them know how I liked it, because they wanted to know whether or not to take their own families. I will not recommend this movie for the theatre. They can wait to see it until it"s out On Demand, if then.

I've never read the book myself but I've heard it was good. and when my animated microbiology professo reccommended that i go see this movie (due to my active imagination and my geekyness) i jumped at the first free chance to go see it. though it's a kids movie i felt like i was at Chewandswallows falls. i felt what the main character was feeling and i loved it from beginning to end, almost cried whe the dad said he was proud of his son at the end. will definitely buy on DVD when it comes out.

I took my 7 year old son to this movie. After reading the book to him for years, it answered all the questions that I had to endure, like who did the food start falling from the sky and who did it. Well put together and the colors were fantastic. Now my son wonders are they going to make the movies Pickels over Pittsburg.

Good movie and story line that is directed toward the young viewer, but has sufficient interjections of adult humor to keep it average. Our daughters (11 & 9) thought it was excellent. This was viewed at the fork and screen side of the theater. Excellent service and food, AMC you have found something that has made going to the movies fun again.

The idea of a food making machine was interesting - I am glad they kept the message clear that it was all junk food and this is not really the ideal way to address hunger in the world. I think they pushed the envelope a bit on the giant food but that must have been straight from the book (didn't read it) I guess they needed some way for what seemed to be a good thing to turn into something bad so they could destroy it.

This movie is a superb film for the whole family. The kids will enjoy it for the great story, funny and lovable characters, and super animation. My husband and I took our three girls (two 7 year olds & a 5 year old) for a birthday. We took them to a 3D showing of this movie and they loved it. Afterwards one of my 7 years olds said, "It was Awesome". It was a cute one for the kids. My husband and I agree that Mr. T's character made the movie. I do have to say that if it wasn't for seeing it in 3D, I'm not sure that they would've thought it was as "Awesome". I think they would've liked it but not Loved it. Overall, I think it was an average movie but above average if you can get into see it in 3D.

This movie was everything it should have been for children and adults, alike. Very fun, creative, imaginary, etc. Kids must have enjoyed it. It was apparent that all the adults in my theatre did!

It was Cute, the kids liked it but it did not have the same good story line and funny one liners for the adults as some of the other G movies.
