Although Indiana Jones was Spielberg Lucas hybrid mayhem fun, it didn't make much sense plot wise. I could bring a notepad, a few geeks and a tape recorder to fully understand the contrive plot, full of meaningless force moments to fulfill the Spielberg, Lucas, hybrid mayhem fun. But lets face it, know one really cared about the story. We all just wanted to hear inside Indiana jokes while galloping through skeletons and temples in a final, lets pray, slim witted hurrah. Thankfully Shai Labeouf's freshness kept me for being too lost in the confused spectacle. I'd recommend it for a night of fun.

Though I was a little disappointed at the overall length of the movie (considering the 1/2 hour of previews) I would have to say that Mr. Spielberg kept our minds running. The climax of the film was kept well hidden and intriguing for people of all ages. The action sequences were well thought out save for one vague fight mid-film and the reunion of characters was well planned. Overall, I'd say the movie was worth the price of admission.

I'm a huge fan of the Indy series. But this new instalment let me down. It was all same old jokes and plot lines. They had 20 years to put together a great script and they failed. Very sad...

Big Indiana Jones fan! Went In fedora, jacket and pants. Just needed bag, whip and gun. But that woulda been bulky. HA! And we got an INDY Crystal SKull Move POster!!
Well..... .....As the movie goes on, Harrison seems to get younger and younger and takes on the Indy character very well. It was a really great movie! The fighting scenes were great! The action was what we would expect from the Indy movies! Even The jokes here and there were funny! Great movie overall, in all aspects, and all actors with the expection of Karen Allen (Ravenwood). She did what she was paid for, but I think she could have done better Saw it @ midnight, and it was well worth it! At the very very end leaves you....well go watch it!

This movie was a blast. I had such a good time watching it. The action was adequate, it was paced very well, and the acting was appropriate for the type of move this set out to be. Is this Raiders Of The Lost Ark? No, that movie has come and gone. Lucas and Spielberg went above an beyond to make that movie, and any other incarnations should be viewed as separate movies. People will make the dreaded comparison, but I urge the viewing audience to disregard that line of thought because it will rob them of having a good time at the movies. It was fun, it was exciting and it was just we needed to kick-start the summer blockbuster movie line-up.

Very disappointing. We have watched the previous Indiana Jones movies on DVD and were "pumped" to see this one. Bought advance tickest online and went at midnight. It starts out good and Harrison Ford is still great. ALL the characters were great BUT the story was pathetic. The movie declined as time went on. There were action scenes that looked so very fake and computer generated that it captures all the attention from the film. Disappointing to say the least.

I was pumped for this movie. I was counting down the days until the midnight showing. As soon as it was announced that there was going to be a fourth Indiana Jones movie, I sat down and watched the first three. Then it finally arrived and I saw it, and I must saw all my anticipation was for nothing. Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has to be the worst of the series. It is a hodgepodge of silly references to the older movies, and the plot just doesn't make much sense. I miss the Indiana Jones who scoured the world trying to stop Germans from getting their hands on the "ultimate weapon". I don't want to spoil anything, but instead of Germans there are Russians, and there is no "ultimate weapon". There is a loud shia labeouf. There is a crazy old scientist. And there is no real cohesion. The ending really leaves something to be desired. It just doesn't have the epic feeling of the first three (or maybe just Raiders and Last Crusade). I walked away with a confused look on my face, and filled with disappointment.

Well, I'm happy to say that I enjoyed this as much as I have any of them save maybe my fondness for 'Raiders'. This is a fun movie, just as I'd hoped it would be. Ford is back as Indiana Jones and does a great job. This film, to me, captured the 50's sci-fi/b movie campiness much the way to previous 3 captured the 30's serial campiness. Shia did a good job as the punk greaser and it was cool to see Marion back with Indy again. The action scenes were totally over the top (a particular scene reminded me alot of the raft drop in 'Doom') People might be put off by some of these action scenes but does any one recall the scene in 'Crusade' when the plane coasts past the car Indy and Dad are in?? How over the top is that ? Or during the mine cart chase, the Looney Tunes stretch of short round between Indy and the bad guys?? I would say that if 'Raiders' and 'Crusade' are cousins , than 'Doom' and 'Skull' are as well. Don't go into this expecting the second comming of Christ and you'll have fun if you just enjoy the ride!

I would recommend this movie to others. It's not as good as Raiders or Lost Crusade but I enjoyed it far more then Temple of Doom. It's a bit silly in some areas and some of plots were very obvious. I did enjoy the small little tributes to the previous movies though. I was worried it would be absolutely awful, 20 years between this one and Crusade, but it didn't ruin Indy for me. Good movie.

i loved it. i liked how they showed indy to be more realistic of a man whos 65....how his prioritys change a bit .. now that he's older. and they didnt over do the cg special effects or the action stunts for a man indys age either so that was good. the relationship between him and marion was sweet too. over all, it was really good and we'll go see it again definitely.

Here is the deal... Spielberg and Lucas had so much potential; the budget, the actors, even the plot was decent. Where did they go wrong? I know that CGI is an always growing and exciting knew technology in film, and often times it is cheaper than actually setting up and filming real shots, stunts or scenes. But I felt like I was watching a cartoon. It was the same feeling I had in the new star wars films. There was no sense of reality, no sense of this is actually taking place. Secondly, the plot involved a lot of extraterrestrial type beings... which just put it over the top as being cheesy. Granted, I don't expect an atheist to view walking across an invisible chasm based on faith in Yahweh any less sci-fi than aliens. But there seems to be a little more credibility and scholarly weight within the 2,000 year old biblical text and church tradition than the national inquirer. Feel free to disagree. Overall... save your money on seeing this one.

Starting out with what seems like a tribute to Lucas' "American Graffiti" the opening scene ends with the camera looking at a groundhog looking into the camera. Huh? What was that referencing? While the action sequences were extremely well done, I just didn't feel invested in the characters. I didn't really care about them. Had this movie come right on the heels of the last Indy film, I might've felt differently. There also seems to be a neverending thread of characters with father issues in Spielberg's films. I don't know what that means, or how it helps the story but it always surfaces.

Was an ok movie, but not as good as it was hyped to be. last Crusade and Holy Grail were better than Crystal Skull and this movie was just a tad between than Temple of Doom. Harrison Ford still has it and Shia LeBouf did a decent job, but the plot was a little to out there for an Indiana Jones movie. Cate Banchette was sub par for her usual work and you could tell in quite a few scenes that she had a British accent while speaking "Russian/Ukranian" Give it a 2.5 stars

Over all, a very wonderful movie. There were many things that allowed for Indy fans of old to enjoy; plus some that allowed for further enjoyment to fans of not just the movies. There were many scenes that mirrored and/or referenced the Indy video games. I noticed right from the start the opening scenes almost seemed like a parody (and so was the ending) to Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. The receding stair case was in that game as well (on the hidden bonus level). Also, if anyone is familiar with Indy and the Emporer's Tomb, the newest game out so far, didn't the tree cutter machine look pretty close to Von Beck's tank? Anyway, moving aside from video games and references, I also enjoyed the way Spielberg was able to capture the style. I personally enjoyed how the film style aged with the characters. I also believe that Dad captured the genre perfectly and yet it was still able to keep that classic Indy punch and humor both in script and in action. There were a few things I was disappointed about though. First was the use of CG. I was really hoping that the crew would try to mimic the old style, like using actual scorpions and trying to use as much real looking stuff as possible. The second, and this may be a small spoiler, but the whole nuclear explosion scene was just a little out there. I actually that was more out of place than the whole alien thing. That was another thing that kinda bugged me, was the fact that in order to fully understand the movie, the viewer needed to do research and know some stuff coming in about the skull. I luckily had researched the mystery and tales of the skull (which was explained too quickly and not very well done) and also fortunately heard the news that the movie was indeed changed to a sci-fi. Anyone expecting a traidtional 50's style serial probably ended up disapointed. Anyway, that does not leave this movie on a sinking ship. The action was constant and several times I felt, when there was a slight lull that it was finally over but then the next thing happened. I both hated and loved that. I probably would have been able to take it better if I hadn't been so tired, but that was only a personal matter and I don't think there was too much action. However, despite being very fast paced, and having to try and keep up, I never found myself bored. With new movies coming these days, a lot of times, I'll actually find myself bored wacthing it for about 5 minutes waiting for the movie to catch up. That never happened. As for the ending, and I'll try not to make this too much of a spoiler either, but I am very glad that the hat stayed on the right head. I think Indiana Jones ended well. There need not be another like him.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Entertaining, but movie has obvious limitations. Though great actors, Harrison and Karen Allen are old-looking. But Harrison's acting wasn't great in thismovie. Shia reinforced themovie with his action sequences. Theplot/story was well developed, but wasn't impressive or believable.Somehow, in "Raiders", the story was believable. Unlike "Raiders" and "Crusade", can't honestly say I would pay to see it again in theatre.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Wow. The fact that we even got another Indy movie is a blessing in itself, and I cant hate on Lucas and Speilburg for delivering that. However, what i can hate on is how much they messed up. CGI Prairie dogs in not 1, but at least 3 scenes, Shia swinging from vines like Tarzan and little cute CGI monkeys attacking the Russians like Ewoks attacking stormtroopers, the CGI final act that really didnt make any sense.....to say the least, there are definite mis steps. i blame lucas for that junk. BUT....there is enough here to smile. Indy and Mutt interact well, and I would have rathered a father son journey, but we got a 5some to watch stumble around. Indy was never alone to do some INDY stuff, but i digress. The chase scenes were very cool, when there were set pieces it worked great and you got that old indy feeling. I smiled to myself more than a few times. the movie works about 75% of the time, which is better than most action movies today. just dont make the next one so darn cute! and let Indy have his own movie, will ya?? oh and Im giving it 5 stars because well... ITS INDY! I cant ever hate on Indy.

To say I was disappointed by this film is an understatement. I went to the midnight showing last night with 5 of my friends and we all felt the same way. You know that feeling that generally happens at the end of a midnight showing? The euphoria, the clapping, the excitement? There was none of that last night. The entire theater sat in stunned silence from what we had just witnessed and slowly filed out. I kid you not. I wish I had recorded it. I have never felt such an akward moment. I looked over at my friend Andrew who had his face in his hands. My friend Trey just looked at me and shook his head. My friend Paul uttered "what was that"? My girlfriend who had seen the original three films once and was not the big fan the rest of us were gave me a hug and said she was sorry it wasn't what we hoped it would be. She could sense the overwhelming feeling of sadness and disbelief in the theater. Plain and simple, this did not feel like an Indy film to any of the people I came with or talked to afterwards. The fun just was not there. The suspense sure wasn't there. And the characters? I didn't care. Obviously the newly introduced people are characters that Indy cares about... He has gotten to know them during the time between Last Crusade and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull... But I really had a tough time caring about them. And the villain? Whatever. There were so many implausible moments it was absurd. I have gone through three stages since seeing the film: 1. Denial 2. Anger 3. Don't Care I will likely never see this film again. I have never been so disappointed by anything in my life. I had seen some early reviews and purposely lowered my expectations. After waking up today around 1 PM and shaking off the cobwebs of my dismal night at the theater before I called my dad and tried my best to lower his expectations. I wouldn't wish the feeling of dissapointment that I or my friends felt on anyone. My friend Andrew has always been a big backer of the Star Wars prequels and always found it strange how some people said things like "George Lucas destroyed my childhood" etc. He has always found the entertainment value in them and poked fun at such comments. He looked at me after this movie with the saddest look I have ever seen on his face and said "Now I know how they felt." The dialogue was atrocious. The film dragged. Plot points seemed to pop up out of nowhere. There were numerous one liners that didn't just fall flat...they DIED. Harrison Ford was in no way the weak link in this film. I thought he did a fine job. The bad CG and reliance on it in many scenes, the boring characters, the pointless psychobabble conversations that went nowhere, the scenes that popped up from nowhere, etc. ruined it for me. I am being as spoiler-free as possible in this post. I am working on a longer version of this that is full of spoilers that details my exact thoughts at each major moment and just how unbelievably awful I felt this film was. I was 6 years old when Last Crusade was released and even had conversations in the playground in elementary school about what the future had in store for Indiana Jones. I never dreamed it would be this... My ranking: 0 Stars out of 4 And if it is out of ten, it ekes out a point: 1 Star out of 10 Only for John Williams' music.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I'm happy to see another installment of this franchise. This movie has the same great adventure and humor that the others did, but the powers Indy has to deal with in this one are very different from anything he has faced before... And the Russians just don't seem as evil as The Third Reich.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I didnt dig it. I give harrison ford props for coming back in it so much older and it obviously took a lot of effort but what was about? The writing was awful, the plot didnt make sense. It quickly turned from some kind of modern adaptation of an indiana jones movie into a SIGNS meets CLOSE ENCOUNTERS meets every cliche, stereotyped action adventure film ever. Did not enjoy it as much as I though i would

The minute I heard the music I felt like a kid again. I loved every second of this movie. I was totally transported, which is a big deal since I am in the industry and work of this stuff all the time and always see the technical side. I took my Dad and we were near tears we enjoyed so much. Love Indy, love the power trio of the Lucas, Spielberg, Ford. Go see it!!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

First George Lucas ruined Star Wars with his awful prequel trilogy, and it looks like Indiana Jones will be his next casualty.
Cyrstal Skull was by far one of the worst movies I have ever seen in the theater. A five year old could come up with a better plotline. The acting and dialogue were horrendous - a typical Lucas trait these days. There was no heart in this film at all. It was more a parody of and Indiana Jones film.
If you love the old Indiana Jones and want to remember it the way it should be, DON'T GO SEE THIS MOVIE!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I feel I must qualify myself before providing what is always a very subjective take on this, or any, movie. I am hopelessly obsessed with Indy, have loved the character since I was a child, and been waiting for this day for most my life. So yes, my expectations were high, but recent reviews help to temper what I was going to go in and expect of this movie. What I got was not pretty. This movie just plain sucked. It really ruined how I feel about Indiana Jones. And it wasn't just the subject matter at the end, it was the giant pile of trash that was the script, the horrible dialogue, and the way the movie failed completely to make me care about Indy. The other movies had me on the edge of my seat, caring and concerned about what was going to happen to Indy. This was such a grossly over-bloated, CGI filled piece of garbage that recycled most of the gags from the other movies that I left wanting to cry. Or at least swear off Lucas movies forever. How could you (Spielberg, Lucas, Koepp, and Ford) ruin a franchise with this cr*p?
No, I do not recommend this movie.

First, of all I have to say that George Lucas needs to retire for good. Go back to raising your kids or whatever else you were doing before you ruined your legacy. Second, Spielberg, are you serious? I knew the movie was going to suck when I saw the first scene with the puppet from Caddyshack. Steve, my man, what happened? Do you really need the money that bad? I have a few bucks lying around if you need gas money. A nuclear blast? A wedding?? Refrigerators??? Aliens???? What????? Honestly, one of the worst movies I have ever seen. What a disappointment.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
