If you love Indiana Jones its a must see. It ties up all lose ends. Just a blast to watch with all members of family, has some thing for the young all the way to the old. Really well shot, keep me interested at all times. Shows items shown it the older movies like the wear house where the put the ark, and who has died over the years, and things that have occurred. Watch the older movies before you see this one, it will help with the story line a lot! It is better than what i expected.

Being old enought to say I remember the first three movies when they came out and having seen crusade in theater I can say that this movie is a far departure from any other indy movie. As far an movies go it was an enjoyable film, but as a indiana jones film it leaves something to be desired. To much computer graphics and a hokey ending really lessen this film as do all the repeated unrealistic elements in some of the chase sequences. The original three films yes they pushed the bounds of realism, but this film broke through those bounds and I think it was not for the better. So if you want to see a good film up till the last 15 min by all means see this one, just go with an open mind and know that you will not be watching the indiana jones that you are use to seeing in the earlier films.

This movie was entertaining. That's where my nice words stop. Harrison Ford was too old and he looked ridiculous in this movie. He lost his cockiness that he had in the first three. It was almost like he forgot how to be Indiana Jones. Hearing him call women honey was just creepy. I just couldn't get past how old he was.

Hold on to your "hats" for this one. This one will take you for a most different ride. An excellent (and more contemporary) story, ... sort of. It is nice to see the "olde guy" still has a few tricks under his hat too.
Pure entertainment and enjoyment. This one has all the schmaltz the others missed but still enough action to maintain the for the kid in us.
Do yourself a favor and just enjoy.

if you expect this to be the best Indy yet, you will walk away disappointed. if you want a 4th installment of a franchise that still makes you laugh, smile, cringe and even a little sappy - you're in luck. kids who have never seen Indiana Jones on the big screen and "big kids" who have been waiting for his return should both enjoy this film. my only regret is that the story served more as a vehicle for the next special effect and somehow "dumbed down" the ever clever Indiana.

Pretty good. Action is similar to the other movies with a slight cheese to it. Also did L. Ron. Hubbard have a part in the scrip. Seems like the kingdom of the crystal skull was similar to the story of scientology???

I was so nervous/antsy/excited for this movie, and it was a great ride! The chemistry between Shia and Ford was wonderful, and blissfully reminiscent of Connery and Ford in Last Crusade. There were three parts were I was a bit bemused by the silliness of it all, but the great things in here far eclipsed these minor points, and I CAN NOT WAIT to see this movie again!

You can expect each movie to be the same otherwise it would be boring and a waste of time. Had I had this in mind when I saw this one I would have enjoyed it more.
I loved the action sequences, same Indy as ever.. Same witty remarks, yes he's older but not worse for the wear. The Movie is a good addition to the story and the supporting cast helped this feel more solid.
Without giving much away, the story wasn't the typical type for Indiana Jones but give it a chance, it's worth the watch..

If you've ever read any fan fiction before you probably noticed once or twice that what you were reading felt like someone else was wearing the suit of your hero or heroine. That what happened in the story might have been entertaining, but it just didn't feel authentic. That's normally because an element of the "magic" of the story wasn't there.
That's what "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" felt like... watching a movie made of fan-fiction.
Let's get it straight, the first act of this movie is really pretty good. For any movie. It's action packed, great homages made to Indy movies of long ago, and you get basic motivations of many major characters right off the bat. But then.. it's almost like Shia LeBeouf arrives to herald the beginning of the downturn of the flick.
It's not his fault... well part of it is. I like Shia, I think he's a good actor... but he's not an action star. I'm supposed to buy Shia as a greaser tough guy? Really? I wouldn't be afraid of Shia if he was coming after me with a bloody axe.
The story is amazingly predictable which is fine, this is formulaic stuff so why mess with the formula? The problems come when they try and go off-formula they make problems for themselves.
The entire first act is to retrieve this object... something that after being seen once briefly in the second act, never is seen or heard from ever again. Almost like everyone just forgets about it.
The "bad guys" are more bad guys in the sense you get told they're bad, as opposed to actually seeing HOW they're bad. Cate Blanchett, while being amazingly beautiful not to mention an amazing actress, is never really given an opportunity to allow her Irina Spalko to show her raw evil. You're not really given a real reason to dislike her other than her motivation is plainly stated as "she wants power". Great.. you and my ex-girlfriends.
It was mildly disappointing especially since supposedly this script had to be agreed upon by all 3 biggies (Spielberg, Lucas, and Ford [oh my!]). There are several scenes and plot devices that are lifted squarely out of other movies (ie: The Mummy and even, kid you not, the first Aliens vs Predator flick)
I do think they brought in Shia to try and harness a younger audience angle... not too much unlike how Star Wars Ep 1 had strong elements aimed specifically at young kids. This one skews slightly older, but not by much.
OH OH before I go I forgot..
The age of Harrison Ford, while noticeable, was not a factor for me in this flick. My wife can't say that... she thinks Harrison being a little slower makes for problems... but for me I think he was fine. Kudos to our senior citizens for still swashbucklin' along... gives me hope for myself.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Overall, UGH!! Extremely disappointing. Breaking it down: the storyline was off the wall; how many of us have heard of archaeological tales of "crystal skulls?" "The Arc of the Covenant" and "The Holy Grail," yes.
The scrip continuity was also ragged. Where was Indy and what was he looking for before he was kidnapped, for instance?
The actors did not look comfortable in their roles. There was no ebb and flow between them or warmth, as in previous movies. Too, there was no feeling of spark between Ford and Allen.
I have to applaud the return of Karen Allen, though. She is a good actress and wonderfully appealing as Marian. If I had been Indy, my heart would have leaped through my chest. But it seemed that she was window dressing with not much to do.
The special effects were outstanding. However, they should not have been the star of the movie. They should have enhanced it.
Can we please re-script this movie, have the actors almost improvise as they did in previous episodes (as in "Raiders"), re-shoot and re-release it .. please?
I am broken-hearted.
Peace!

YOU CAN'T PUT ALIENS IN AN INDIANA JONES MOVIES. WHAT WAS GEORGE LUCAS THINKING? He could have picked any other plot than that. other than aliens being the basis of the movie it wasn't bad but the fact that that's what the whole movie is based on really ruins it

I was the first in line at my theatre for the 11:59 PM showing of the highly anticipated fourth installment of the epic Indiana Jones saga (yes, leather jacket and all)...I have a very torn opinion of the film...
I think that the producers did a good job of recreating the classic "Indiana Jones" feel, but it took the movie a little while to come to. I felt some lines sounded forced, almost dubbed in (in the beginning), and really came alive as the film progressed.
There is NO shortage for action or classic Indy humor in the film, nor did they forget to add a few little "winks" from the previous three movies. I enjoyed this film immensly, but there were a couple scenes that I really wished didn't show up in the film. As an avid Indy fan, I came in expecting a classic plot that stuck to the basis the other three films were created from...This film has the same classic feel, but with a few unorthodox, shall-we-say "surprises" that just really were unnecessary in my opinion.
All in all, amazing movie that keeps you intrigued from start to finish...hey, Indy's back!

I am a huge fan of the Indiana Jones series and think this movie is a great addition to an already fantastic series
It has that classic Indiana Jones feel and completely satisfies the Indiana experience that we've all been waiting for. The movie was fun, exciting, adventurous, and interesting.
While the alien part of the story was slightly cheesy- it still kept to the era of the 1950s when the "alien invasion" movement was a huge part of this countries culture. So go watch it; relax, have fun, and enjoy a classic.

I saw this movie at midnight when it opened. I do not ever try to have an expectation of what a film should be and this was the case with this one as well. I really hate the remarks that it did not live up to the last movies or it was not as good as X (fill in X here). This movie was made to entertain and I personally was entertained along with most of the crowd that showed up. The special effects were great and contrary to what some say, I personally thought the dialogue was great. Everything happened in a well thought out sequence and told a story in an entertaining way. I for one am glad to have seen this movie and know that others will enjoy it as well.

Wow! What a horrible movie! Yeah the premise of alien tecnology being introduced to anicient civilizations is intriguing, but in an Indiana Jones movie? I grew up with these movies and to see this suckfest made me sad. Indy was your regular tough, clever action hero in the original trilogy, so now we are supposed to believe an aging archeaologist is a super hero? Not to mention the horrible dialogue. Professional soldiers who couldnt shoot let alone fight off a sixty plus year old professor? please what ever you do, if you are a fan of the greatness that is Indiana Jones, do not ever see this movie.

Spielberg and Lucas have never disappointed. Until Now. At the midnight show, I found myself struggling with the question--When's the movie really going to start being good? The story line meandered from beginning to end without enough connecting threads to make much sense. I knew I was in trouble when Indy survives a nuclear blast simply by climbing into a refrigerator. Suspension of disbelief did not work with this scene.
The film never achieves that easy balance of adventure and believability so evident in Raiders and Last Crusade or even Temple of Doom for that matter (a second-rate film compared to the others). The reality is villains of Raiders and Last Crusade are better material to work with than Cold War Russian spies.
One of the major weaknesses of the film is the writing and character development. The characters were all middle range in terms of likeability or believability. LaBeouf and John Hurt are the two small joys of the film, but even they were short changed by the script.
It was nice to see Karen Allen reprising her role as Marian, but disappointing to see her character hadn't matured in 20 years. Ford is clearly in excellent physical condition, but it can not disguise his age. I had hoped this movie would be a passing of the torch with LaBeouf as the new Indy and Ford gracefully retiring to a role similar to Connery's in Last Crusade. This is not the case.
Even the special effects seemed tried and true replays. Example, the special effects of the end scene in Crystal Skull are eerily reminiscent of the end scene in Return of the Mummy. Unfortunately, the storyline was poorly developed, the characterizations less than evolved and the chemistry between actors sadly disappointing.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I was really exited about the new Indy movie..but I have to say I was really disappointed!! I had really good expectations since It is a Spielberg Movie..but for the first time I didn't like what Spielberg did. Why did he used so much computer?? big mistake!! Also the action sequences were "to creative" a mean come on!! Also villans and good guys went from sharing secrets to shooting eachother over and over and over... I'm not gonna say it sucked, but I have to be honest.. I walked out of the movie. I didn't even see the end. What a shame, notting like the other movies. And by the way, I love the temple of doom!!

Go in with your expectations in check. it is not as AWESOME as previous Indiana films, but it is still fun. Remember, they like to do their own stunts and try to minimize CGI. That makes it looks a little campy, but try to find the beauty in the simplicity. I will always love Marion Ravenwood. Great to see her back. Great to see Dr Jones, too.
