This movie, which I found to be extremely enjoyable, suffers from expectations that are almost impossible to fulfill, for at least two reasons. First, the hype surrounding the release built up expectations such that unless it was one of the top 50 movies of all time, it would be a letdown. Second, it's rare indeed that any action movie sequel can surpass the adrenaline rush of the original, particularly when the original is a forever classic. Sure, it's happened, but it's extremely unusual and in my opinion, an unfair basis for comparison. I found this movie...its pace, story, acting, cinematography, and the oustanding score of John Williams...to be better than any but the first film!

So, I avoided the reviews but heard the first couple were bad but after that, everyone seemed to think it was fun. Well, I didn't like it so much and I'd like to think it isn't because of the high standard of the previous movies. Visually, it is not consistent with the other movies. The look is more reminicent of Spielberg's recent work like War of the Worlds than the vibrant Indy movies. It is very predictable; you know that the end will be good for Indy and bad for the bad guys, but does it have to play out just like Last Crusade? It seems like every clue, Indy is able to decipher easily. It doesn't have that globe trotting feel with the spectacular landscapes and there is too much CGI. Frankly, any CGI would have been too much, but still. And I don't know how to put this any other way, but in Harrison Ford's dialog and acting, it almost feels like a cameo that lasts the whole movie. Like he is only there to remind us who he was and banter a bit, but it lasts the whole movie. Part of what adds to that feeling is the focus on his hat. This isn't National Treasure bad, but if a friend asks if they should see it, I'd sa, "Meh, it's not bad, but don't pay full price."

I have heard reviews stating that this movie broke no "new ground." I'm not sure what that means exactly, because I thought the blending of different historical elements, tying eras together, as well as bringing us up to speed on the world of Indy characters since the last movie were very clever and fun. The action scenes were great. Harrison Ford is amazing, being able to do those stunts while in his mid-60s. Also, we are left with the clear potential to see a continuation of the Indy franchise. As for those who gave this movie average or low reviews, I believe they came in with unrealistic expectations and a memory of previous Indy movies that was probably recalling them as if they were perfect. Sometimes that happens when you get away from something you liked. Years later your memory of it somehow idealizes the situation, forgetting anything that was not perfect. In reality, those past movies were excellent, but had some flaws as well. In fact most, if not all, movies do have room for critique. But, the bottom line is that I do not believe very many can name a better action adventure movie in the last 10 years than the Crystal Skull.

Plot was flimsy but movie, essentially an extended chase amplified with amazing visuals and a good soundtrack, was very entertaining. Harrison Ford was in good form. Karen Allen, John Hurt and Shia LeBeouf were all great. Cate Blanchett was OK. Very nostalgiac for the baby boomers. Good to have Spielberg and Lucas back in this very engaging adventure genre which they created!

Finally a movie that adds to and completes a series instead of a prequel. This movie will transport you to the 1950's cold war era and delivers non-stop excitement. The story keeps unfurling and the character development never ends. You want to see this at the theatre because it is one of those movies you will remember seeing for the rest of your life.

My 10 year old Stepson and myself attended on opening day, and I must admit, I was a little apprehensive about the "questionable" reviews in the news. After we were seated, I realized that I was as excited as my son. We had a great time, and Indy 4 was as good as the previous 3. This was a campy movie (just as it was intended), and was really a hoot to watch. My son said, "I want them to make another one right now!". He had just been exposed to Indiana Jones during a movie marathon on the Sci-Fi channel. I'm sure we will be back to see it again!

I went in not expecting much and thats exactly what I got! i just don't think Indy has stood the test of time, 19yrs since the last movie and all. It felt like they were really just reaching to connect to the audience by placing Indy in as many historically famous places as they possibly could. Also this movie was so predictable I almost got up and walked out. Half way in I knew how it was going to end! I am a huge fan of Lucas and Speilberg, and of the Indy series, but this wasn't up to par! Don't waste your time!

I enjoyed this action packed adventure movie and the people I went to see it with. There were some nail-biting scenes, and I felt like I could follow along even though I hadn't seen most of the other movies in the series. I'd definitely go see it again.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was (in the words of an American Idol judge) "just okay for me". I thought for this movie it would have been nice to use the "less is more" motto. I think the special effects kind of lessened the movie. The other indiana jones movies were so great because there wasn't very much of the computer generated HUGE effects. I thought some of the best scenes were with minimal effects....i.e. the fight in the diner! I was glad to see that harrison ford still has it even after all these years. They did an excellent job of aging him appropriately and still making the movie exciting and suspenseful.

I have always been an Indy fan at age 11 Raiders replaced Star Wars as my all time favorite!! Over the years I grew up and Indy is Still Great!! No spoilers in this review. Just go see it!!!! It was still a good movie. If you are a loyal fan of the series you will like the movie. Did it live up to my expectations? No. But it was great to see Harrison Ford on the big screen as Indy again.

Indiana Jones is Back! Awesome ride. The film was humorous and action packed. Another great hit for Spielberg and Lucas. Harrison Ford has done it again. At age 65 his is still in great shape. A must see film for the whole family. Can't wait to go see it again.

Being a huge Indy fan and growing up with the trilogy, I left the theater with mixed emotions. It was definitely good to see the man in the hat with his whip by his side again, but after not seeing him for 19 years, it was a shock. The action was great, but some scenes were a little too much over the top. Reflections on the past movies brought back great memories, but one still has to question if the ride into sunset would have been the best way to complete this franchise of great film making.

I took my 2 kids-my 8 yr old loves Indy! Even with our wide age range, we left the theater quite pleased...I gave it an A and the kids gave it an A+. The kids thought the beginning was a little slow but beyond that, we were all caught up in the rest of the movie....we have been humming the Indy theme ever since!

This movie was great and met my expectations. Steven Spielberg did a great job directing this film and kept it to the feel of the other indiana jones films. It was great to finally get to see Indy on the big screen again. I would definatley see this movie again in a heart beat.

I enjoyed the movie itself, and enjoyed how old characters were brought back in. the special effects were good, but i thought that the twist that they put in about the skull ruined the movie. I think it would have been 5 stars if the skull didn't turn out to be from where it was, and the ending was a disappointment too. I would say this movie is a renter, not one to see in the theater.

Indiana Jones I, II, III were all awesome...this movie was an insult to all three. The first three could all stand alone as good movies without each other. Nothing at all about this movie was clever. It was worse than both National Treasures. The only thing it had going for it was Harrison Ford, who I almost lose respect for in doing this movie. This movie should have been done ten years ago without forcing CGI and mainstream garbage into it, just to put on a nice light display of special effects. What made the first three was a sense of believability of the fantasy. This movie had me laughing at parts that weren't meant to be funny and angry at parts that were supposed to be. Needless to say, very disappointed!

Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull is another well written and direction action flick that once again deals with things that teeter on the edge of reality. It is a good, fun, and interesting movie that I saw with my wife and a friend. Neither one appreciated the focus of this adventure largely due to a lack of interest in Sci-Fi topics. Bottom line, the story is there, the characters are there and as good as ever, it's the same formula and it still works.

I just saw this movie and was very disappointed. It was way over the top. I mean I understand it's Indiania Jones, but seriously I was laughing at some portions because of the ridiculousness of it. The action was great as well as the special effects, but I just didn't like the concept/plot of the movie. I hope that they will try it again someday and make up for what is lacking in this one.

I am a firm believer that if you go into a movie with high expectations and anticipation that you are generally going to be very disappointed. If you go into a movie with no expectations, then you will generally be pleseantly surprised. I was extremely looking forward to this movie. I loved all the Indy movies before and couldn't wait to see this one. Therefore, I was disappointed when this movie didn't live up to my expectations. But then after thinking about it, this Indy was a good movie on its own. It was full of action, adventure, and humor. Overall it was a very enjoyable movie, especially if you don't try to compare it to the previous movies.

This was a very good film. I had a long day and was tired when I went to see this movie. It kept my attention, was very entertaining. Harrison Ford seemed to be in quite good shape for any age, I didn't feel he was an old actor trying to look young but played to his strengths. Kate Blanchett was her usual encredible acting genious self, once again you didn't realize it was her after a few moments into the charactor. Intro of the newest charactor tells you that the torch may be past depending on how this movie is received. Great motorcycle chase scenes that were actually somewhat realistic. Indiana Jones is the type of movie that with casts of the past could entertain us forever. I will say I was with a younger couple that didn't quite have my enthusiasm, probably not enough CGI but as one who likes acting as well as special effects that is not all bad.

I give this movie two stars because it does what it sets out to do: portray Indy in the 50s. But, George Lucas needs to get out of writing movies. The last three Star Wars and this monstrosity only further establish that Lucas's ideas have gotten really cheesy and cutesy. Part of the lure of the old Indy movies (with the exception of Temple of Doom) was the Biblical artifact fascination. WHO IN THE WORLD CARES ABOUT CRYSTAL SKULLS FROM ALIENS????? Why couldn't he pick Noah's Ark? Or, temple ruins under the Golden Dome? Don't even get me started on Karen Allen. They didn't write her in the story very well, making her contribution look terrible. The whole "family" storyline was dumb. Spielberg should have stuck to his guns and refused to shoot digitally. The whole thing looked too advanced for Indy and the picture didn't have the "warmth" of the old Indy movies. Stupid ending. I'm going to pretend like Last Crusade really was the Last Crusade. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull never happened

The aging Indy gets charged to locate a missing crystal skull and return it to a mythical lost city of gold. Along the way, many people seem dead set on preventing him from accomplishing his mission, and various beatings, fights, and car chases happen every step of the way. The use of CG animation was very extensive throughout the film, and once again, a movie is invented to go with the special effects shots that George and Steven come along. Some of the storyline dragged at times, but the film was far from a waste of time. References to the other movies exist throughout the film, and it's a fun ride.
