Great to see Indy back after all these years! Ford looks good as ever. Action packed movie with a bit of humor. Some of the actions scenes were a bit over the top, like standing between moving trucks sword fighting (I guess you have to get use to computer animation.) Kate Blanchett does a great job as the psychic Russian Director of the KGB. Karen Allen looks the same but her part wasn't all that exciting as the first movie. The new kid on the block could be the future Indy. He did a good job as well. As for the crystal skull, it would have been nice if it really looked like crystal instead of a plastic skull stuffed with plastic bags! Overall great entertainment and worth seeing!

When I first saw the 2nd film in this series, in front of me sat a a kid of eighteen or so wearing a brown fedora. he'd clearly seen the film several times already and from his seat, he threw every punch at the screen that Harrison Ford threw and grinned from ear to ear from start to finish. I didn't go quite as far as this kid, but I felt just the same inside. Indy was the hero we all wanted to be.
The Best news about the new film - Indy has not stopped inspiring, depicted here as the wiser, somewhat-crustier-but-still-tough-as-nails man that we all hope to grow into.
Like Indy himself, the pace has slowed down here more than you would like, But Indy can still take a punch and give back as better than he gets. Chattier than past films, you'll find yourself ahead of the curve a few times and just slightly sacarine-ized by the 50's style bonding. But Spielberg/Lucas have made a film set in the 50's that feels right for it's era, something they haven't done as successfully in the series since the dead-on 40's feel of the first. Great action sequences, 30 minutes more action and less talk would have kept in right in line with the others.
Bottom line, these artists are the best that movies have to offer and they don't disappoint. You just can't help but smile at seeing a true new adventure of this great hero. I'm sure Indy isn't the only older man who's dusting off his fedora for this long-overdue return.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I was thrilled to see the new Indiana Jones movie on opening days. I had been waiting since April to see it. It was exciting, thrilling, a little comedy in its, and have a little bit of eveything in its. I enjoyed the part of the red ants attacking, and the history that its told us about South American and the Atom bomb. I thought the part of the crate with the ark was interesting when the box broke open, but its should of taken its a little further. I enjoyed its greatly.

It's been a 19 year wait but I wasn't disappointed. Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones - whatever his age. He may be a little "weathered" but he's still quick with the wisecracks, fast with a whip, and formidable in a fight. This entry will mean more to the folks familiar with the previous films but first-timers can still enjoy it (although why they'd start with number four, I'll never know). See it on the Ultrascreen. It's the best!

I'm sorry that this is a negative review. I saw it yesterday, and maybe it's too soon for me to respond to it, but my initial reaction was disappointment.
I wanted to like the film. Raiders of the Lost Ark is usually my favorite film of all time. But my eyes were aching from too much rolling by the middle.
The plot turns were predictable, even though they were incomprehensible.
The cinematography was incredible, but the picture gradually glows brighter in a golden haze, which was unnatural and made me feel like what I was watching a dream. That's a bummer when I'm already suspending my disbelief.
Shia LaBoeuf did a great job as an earnest punk, but the tone matches Last Crusade more than Raiders. In other words, it seemed like everyone was in a fun community theater play about absurd danger. The action sequences are as unbelievable in parts as the Temple of Doom, but sometimes they're edge of your seat exciting. The difference is when the action is ludicrous, it's ludicrous. Some people like ludicrous, but I can only take it in small doses before I feel the sloppy desperation of the story teller.
There were some great moments, but they were usually spoiled for either 'comic' or 'horror' effect and so it was difficult to get traction and believe what was happening.
Kate Blanchett was amazing as a foil, but she seemed like an underboss that was missing a boss. I get the sense that there's a lot of her that's on the cutting room floor.
I'm 'recommending' this movie because it's Indiana Jones, and there is still a lot of creativity up on the screen and a lot of great effort.
I would have loved to have been consulted when they were structuring the story and peppering the dialogue with expository plot points. But alas, they are the professionals.
And they are all extremely talented.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I know that Indiana Jones movies are far fetched. But this went way to far in my opinion. I mean from him surviving a nuclear blast, and aliens, and going over 3 waterfalls. It was just to far fetched for me to enjoy. I seriously was preparing myself from Luke Skywalker to come on to the screen.

The movie, simply put, is horrible. It is badly acted on Harrison Ford's part and I went away feeling as if the movie was hastily made by Lucas and Spielberg; as if they had nothing to lose. But of course they'll make money. I heard they were down-and-out and in desperate need of cash!

I am a huge Indy fan and I assumed the movie would not be as good as the other three. I still expected it to be thoroughly enjoyable.
For the first 30 minutes I found the story building and all the catching up acceptable and still had hopes that it would be an overall good movie. After the first hour I
began to lose hope.
Every Indy gimmick is done and overdone. The CGI elements of the movie only serve to make it seem more desperate and cheesy.
It made me think of Die Hard 4... just unbelievable. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect to go see a work of fiction and find it to be realistic by everyday standards. However, the previous Indy movies made me believe that Harrison Ford was this man who was capable of accomplishing the things that he did. The chase scenes were so exasperatingly silly that I would have walked out long before the end had it not been Indiana Jones.
The only well spent money for the movie was the $10 for Pretzel bites with cheese and a large soda.
I am not overly critical of movies and I can often find sufficient enjoyment where others think a movie is worthless. Trust me - if you are an Indiana Jones fan, don't see this movie.
That being said, if somebody had told me this was a terrible movie I would have discounted their opinion and went to see it anyhow. So if you go and see it don't say I didn't warn you.

This was a fair movie that didn't hold a candle to the earlier movies because Harrison Ford is just too old to play such a believable hero and LaBeouf played the same person as he played in Transformers and other films he's been in. With the Russians our "friends" now, it was hard to bring back that Cold War emnity; whereas the earlier villans would always be hateful.
So, no need for you to rush.

It way too long for Indiana Jones to make an appearance once again! Even though I didn't find it to be flawless - I found the movie to be extrememly entertaining & would definitely recommend it to diehard Spielberg fans & Harrison Ford fans alike.
The beginning had some audio trouble, but once we got past that, I didn't encounter any more problems. The chase scene was a little long, but kept you on the edge of your seat in true Indy fashion.
Felt the skulls looked like saran wrap stuffed inside - but still a real cool effect.
Left the door open for the "Young Henry" to follow in his dad's footsteps if Indy wants to hang up his hat.

Engaging plot with expected but well executed "nostalgic" look. At times, actually thought-provoking.
Good period details and fun, original (!) action sequences (although, how do the bad guys still manage to miss our heroes with all those automatic machine guns?)
Cate Blanchett is well cast, and while my initial reaction to seeing Karen Allen was "mercy casting", she manages to pull it off (what a great smile!) and helps to bring the Indiana Jones saga full circle.
Minor continuity lapses don't mar the overall enjoyment.
Pay attention to the PG-13 rating; plenty of nightmare fodder, and the crystal skull even started to draw ME into it's thrall!

I took my two teenage boys to see this. We had all heard the reviews, and the negative feedback.
But we all enjoyed it. Its a typical Indy movie. Just sit back, unplug the skeptic, and enjoy the ride.
Last Crusade was my favorite, but that had to do with the solid acting in it, so this isn't my favorite. But I was worried about a Temple of Doom experience -- which this is not.
For me this was nice way to close the Harrison Ford chapter - but it sure opens a new chapter for a new generation of adventurers.

So here's the thing: critics are critical. That's why they have jobs. They provide balance to a self-loving industry. That said, I have to say while I thought there were weaknesses in the new Indy installment, I am going to be...poetic about it. First of all, remember, the whole franchise is about the foibles and frailities of a reluctant hero - a part time archaeology teacher. So, the supposed weakness or "lack" in the story or the delivery I am going to say helps make Indiana Jones believable. Each film has shown a new side of our hero. This one happens to show him nearly 20 years down the road. And what happens over the course of 20 years? You change, physically, mentally and emotionally. That's what I love about this film. Our reluctant hero is ready to hand off the mantle to a new, slightly less-reluctant kid. Does that mean we will see more of Mutt? Don't know. Possibly. He's cute and sassy, but he doesn't grab me like Indy did the first time I saw him when I was 13. (Talk about the ultimate school-girl crush! I digress.) But Shia did do that in Transformers, so there's hope after all...
I think this is a fun movie, has great questions posed, still has edge-of-your-seat excitement, and a couple of villains you want to see get their just rewards.
See it. Wear a fedora while you're at it, 'cuz there's nobody else like Indiana Jones. :)

It's been almost 20 years since the last Indiana Jones adventure so of course I, like most Indy fans, was chomping at the bit for a new installment. I was not disappointed. Indy clearly has a lot more mileage on him, but he still puts his young sidekick to shame. Watching the story unfold I felt as if I was reuniting with long lost friends. I mourned for those who didn't make it to this reunion, namely Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliot) and Dr. Jones Sr. (Sean Connery). I also missed Sallah (John Rhys Davies).
The period atmosphere was flawless. The enemy was two fold: it was not only the Red Menace, but the rampant McCarthyism let loose on the American public for our protection. This should not be lost on an audience living with the Patriot Act. Spielberg orchestrated a fitting homage to the B Movies of the fifties with "the Bomb", greasers, Reds, and most tellingly, aliens.
I hope fans don't leave the theater thinking space men built the pyramids! Somewhere, Erich van Daniken is smiling.
It's a lot of fun to watch and I will surely watch it many more times once it's on DVD.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I'm a movie buff, like we all are :)
All the time spend on perfecting the right script went to waste. The main plot was too out of reach. The other three Indiana movies at least were believable plots. I'm just disappointed that they went with aliens; really Lucas? Really?! Nice stunts, but not believable and too much computer stuff. What make the other movies great are the live action stunts with little to no help from computers (the other Indiana movies). The actors were AMAZING! Really drove the movie especially the relationship between Jones and Mutt (Shia). The idea behind the golden temple was GREAT but poorly executed with the alien twist. However, it did fit with the era, 1957. All the alien craze and government cover ups. You'll also learn that Indiana spent sometime serving his country in WW II and has the government on his back when his close friend turns out to be a double agent for the Russians. Who else would want all that gold and world power? LOL. You can see Indiana Jones in this movie and all that makes him an icon. If you're a true Indiana buff, go see the movie. BUT, be prepared to be slightly disappointed. If you have no clue about any of the Indiana movies for SURE go see this one; you'll have no expectations.

Let's be honest, there's no way this film could have lived up to the hype surrounding it, especially since the hype was created by both marketing and over a decade of anticipation. For those who expected more than a rousing adventure with some cherished characters, I ask 'what movie series have you been watching anyway?' KOTCS is exactly what Spielberg and Co. set out to create, another Indiana Jones film set in the tradition of the old-time serials that inspired them. The Indy series one-ups them, though, for having superior character development and this movie certainly gives our favorite whip-wielding archaeologist the most depth of any of the films.
Yeah, some of the action set-pieces are hokey (but c'mon, what about Temple of Doom?) and the expository dialog got to be a bit much (then again, Last Crusade had its fair share as well) but the film's strengths more than outweighed its weaknesses.
It was exciting. It was funny (funniest of the series so far). And it was great to be reunited with old friends once again.
I loved it, and I'll see it again!

I love all the Indy movies but was very disappointed in this one. The first half was typical Indy but once they took it to the alien portion they went outside of Indy parameters. They should have kept that for their Star Wars stuff. I really wanted to enjoy this but can't recommend it to an Indy fan. It is a decent movie though if you're not expecting a lot. my son enjoyed it very much.

I'm a long time Indy fan, I even wore my 15+year old Raiders of the Lost Ark t-shirt to the opening...I found myself pondering the movie after it was over. I didn't think it was phenomenal, but I didn't think it was bad. I think that Spielberg and Lucas did an appropriate job presenting the time that has passed since the Last Crusade, with Indy's witticism and lack of amazing stunts, in coordination with what was the hot-topic during that particular time period. It got a little "sci-fi" at some parts, but overall, it was good to see Indy and friends back on the big screen again. I'm sure we'll be seeing a new generation of Indy movies to come.

I saw the movie on opening night and I exited enormously entertained and anxious to see it again. While it doesn't scale the heights of the gritty and (still) stunningly brilliant classic "Raiders" or the furiously paced and intensely dark (and unfairly maligned) "Temple Of Doom," Spielberg and Lucas take the tone of the more light footed "Last Crusade," and present a most comfortable reunion with our favorite archeologist--all the while showing why they are the MASTERS of this kind of movie. Harrison Ford slips with ease back into his signature role and I feel like I'm 12 years old again, seeing Dr. Jones for the very first time back in 1981. In fact, I think that is the charm of this installment. This film is not meant to re-invent the wheel or the "Indiana Jones" genre. Here are Spielberg, Lucas and Ford, all at advanced age and in the spirit of children, they decided to get out the costumes and toys and just play again--and man, is their playtime so much fun. Goofy, exhilarating, hilarious, exciting and touching. Highly recommended.

I really think they went all out on this one. It had a different yet similar feeling to the previous movies. They definately didn't set out to "remake" any of the previous movies. The adventure is very different and quite rich in story. I liked how they incorporated the big events of the time (the Reds, the atomic age, and Roswell/A51) in the film. Harrison was top notch as always and will always be Indy. Shia was an awesome sidekick and very likable. The humor and action were all there. My only complaint was the ending was a bit confusing, but maybe if I see it again (which I will), it'll be more clear. I'd love to see a 5th film but who knows.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
