As would be expected, Speilsburg provides the special effects needed to pull it off, and the suspense was adequate. But the script was not as engaging and slowed the movie down for me. Overall, I did enjoy it but not to the extent of its previous ones.

Although the story line was flat and the character depth was unavailable, I did enjoy the special effects and action. The movie reminded me a lot of the ride at Disney Land. You move so quickly through the ride of special effects you have no time to enjoy the work that went into it and forget what you saw afterwards. The movie didn't disappoint me. I went to see Harrison as Indiana Jones in his typical form. And he did pull it off, again.

Let me start by saying that I am a fan of the previous IJ movies, but this one really disappointed. It wasn't the acting, which was excellent, or the dialog for the characters, but the inane plot and horrible directing which killed it for me. Did Steven Spielberg call this one in, or have an assistant take care of the actual work? Was there anyone around who could objectively look at the plot scenarios and mention that they just don't work?
I don't care that Harrison Ford is getting a little old for the action hero role, because I wanted to believe in what Indiana was doing, but he dodged more live ammunition and was inches from so many deadly situations so often that it just became silly.
No need to give away the story for those of you who want to see it (on dvd, if you do yourself that favor), but I just want to say that this was a sad way to end the Indiana Jones series.

Well a long time we don't have a really good movie on the theather, I miss that feeling to get out of the theather laugthing and very excited with what you saw. Wasn't that bad at all, could have a little more suspense everything was kinda predictible. But I liked it, I think everyone is already prepared for this kinda movie, we can't say the movie was bad because Harrison Ford is too old for it, He is still a handsome man, I guess they took easy on him with the action lol.

This is just a wonderful fun film to see. You don't have to read into it or analyze it. It was good to see an aging Indy, Marianne, and a bunch of pictures of the old ones, like Brody and Henry Sr. Shia Lebeauf was wonderful as the confused, angry, not sure what he will do next, youth. I think it would be great if he did take over the Indy films. Yes this story had little plot, lots of cliches, tons of action, and a big build up, but it's Indy. That's the whole point.

Having grown up with Indiana Jones and loving Harrrison Ford I was looking forward to this movie. It started out with the makings of a traditional IJ movie and was showing promise until the aliens showed up. At first when the idea was introduced in the beginning I was sure they wouldn't stoop to that level. And then they did... Very disappointing. The "knowledge" message was weak and poorly supported, very unlike the previous ones. Loved the reintroductions of characters, the ants and of course Harrison, no matter what age he is. Should have stopped while they were ahead.

It was a pleasure to see Indy back again. Harrison Ford is at the top of his game with this fourth installment of the franchise. Like Sean Connery, Harrison gets better as time goes on.

Alot of action with not much connecting it together. My 8 year old grandson would have loved it but it bored me. Even though it has nothing to do with reality, it was too disjointed. The ending is merely a setup for a sequel.

I have seen all of the Indy movies, and this one did not dissapoint me. There was lots of action, car chases, slimy stuff and fights galore. Harrision Ford is older, a bit wiser, but still a wise cracking hunk, and still attracted to Karen Allen. Ms Allen had too little screen time, however she always makes her presence felt. Shia was a welcome addition, and can continue the series if he wants too. I enjoyed this movie a lot, and I don't compare it to the previous one because they were so long ago. The story was a stretch, but so what! For great fun and excitement; go see it, you'll be glad you did.i

I read all the lousy review, but went to see it anyway. I really did like it. OK, so I had to suspend belief in some places, but this is an Indiana Jones movie, and, let's face it, all of them have been a bit on the fantastic side. Besides, I wasn't expecting Shakespeare or anything, I just wanted to be entertained for a couple of hours, and I was. Harrison Ford was still believable, and I am so glad that Karen Allen came back!

Awful. The horrible clichés failed the mature audience who could appreciate the period reference and completely escaped a younger audience. The editing is comparable to jury selection where everyone has an allotment of strikes but a minimum selection is mandatory. As far as action in an action genre film, grab the first film from your VHS collection and press pause and then frame by frame through the feature. This includes any sequence not featuring Mr. Ford, whom, at any age, is a more than capable actor.

A rompy Indiana Jones flick with the Commies as the stereotypical evil villains (well done by Cate Blanchette) and chock full of references to earlier movies sure to appeal to fans. Ford does a fine job delivering the comic-book lines, and it's just plain fun to watch our favorite grave robber outwit and outpunch the bad guys. Plenty of special effects, but they never take over. John Hurt's character was a little much, but it sure was nice to have Karen Allen back.

It was exactly what the doctor orderd, a lovely mix of the hold and the new. Indy was great, the kid was also great, and everyone was up to par. Loved cate blanchett, one of the greatest.

I think this was a very good movie. A great sequil and I think there will be more esspecially since he now has a son. The son seem's to be very much like Indy. I'm sure they will continue this a little while with Harrison and then have Indy's son take over. And the way the producer showed that one treassure from a previous Indy and it didn't show up in this one, I'm sure there will be more Idny's coming soon. I think there was some very good acting going on by all of them but there could of been a little more action. I would go see it again and recommend it to a friend.

I read all the bad reviews and was prepared to be dissapointed, BUT I really, genuinely liked it. For anyone who grew up entranced with the LEGEND of Indiana Jones, this movie gives you one last thrill ride, with a nice sense of closure at the end.
Harrison Ford was fantastic, still wonderful as our favorite action hero, if a little older. Shia LeBeouf was amazing, played his part to perfection. Cate Blanchett was appropriately scary, although I did keep expecting Rocky and Bullwinkle to show up; it was the accent... And how GREAT was it to see Karen Allen again!!! She was what was missing from all the other IJ movies.
For me, THIS is the "true" 3rd movie of the trilogy, since the 2nd was horrible and doesn't count.

You get a standard Harrison Ford Indiana Jones movie. It is enjoyable and has plenty of action and comedy. With one exception, the cast is OLD. It does set up nicely for a new series with a younger central character.
I'd recommend it for those who enjoyed the original movies when released. There are a few exceedingly (but clearly fakey) gorey scenes, just like the previous Indian Jones movies. If parents are sure that kids can handle that kind of gore and ignore a few curse words, I'd approve it for kids. The one teen/early-20 character might not be enough to draw teens, but they might be interested once there is a sequel (which seems likely).

Why do I even have to give it 1 star! It doesnt deserve anything at all! I was bored ot death, took a nap, and then when I woke up, I didnt like all the gore, with the dead bodys, and fighting. I kept going to the bathroom and taking extra long, so I wouldnt have to go back. I kept asking my parents to leave early. DONT GO SEE THIS HUNK OF GARBAGE!

"Grins and Giggles" for those that know the previous films of the series, but not a good place to start for those just discovering Indy. No "sex", but some heavy cussing in spots, and lot of rather "bloodless killing" for those parents that want to know that. CGI in many ways, has ruined what was a "tip of the hat" to the old days of the "Saturday Moviehouse Serials". While beautiful to look at, it loses that "feel of real" with the computer doings things that people or models of people simply can't do. It has a different look, and it lets the script writers wander way past the point of "belief". Some of the jokes are a bit tired in this one, and some are way beyond "hokey". The first 1/4 to 1/3 of the film was great, true old school Indy Jones, but after the simple plot of the "chase item" is revealed, it goes slowly downhill from there. Blanchett was "hot" as the lead Female Villian, the "Mutt" a tired "Fonzy wannabe" cliche with "in pants humor just because we can" tossed in, while Allen was just sad, a mere shadow of what she once was, given wooden lines and corny sentiment to make it all the worse. Ford in an interview said he wanted Indy to die, but that was turned down, and his thinking on it, was that the makers of this film, figured "there wasn't much of a future for selling Action Figures of a Dead Hero". See folks, it's become more about making money on everything under the Sun you can slap "Indiana Jones" on, and less about making a great movie in the first place. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours, but not what the original Indy Jones movies had to offer. Let's hope they let this be the last one, while it has something left to be proud of, and don't take this down the path along the lines of "Rocky 20, My Rusty Old Knife Ends All Evil", or the Lucas penchant of "let's tell the early Star Wars untold stories" based on something like "Teen Indy Jones, Search for the Lost Stuffed Kitten". Let it rest in peace, and make some new heroes, not tied in with some huge merchandise scheme to sell toys and fast food supersized drink cups, please!?.

Just went to see it and although it was great to see Indy again, I felt they spent too much time in the first hour building up the plot and too much explainations. We all know who Indiana Jones is, why take up so much time explaining? I felt the pace was draging in spots as a result and lost the overall flow of the film. I went back and watched parts of the first three movies and you can see the differance. With Indy, it's like being on a rollercoster from start to finish, even the slower parts in the first three films moved along the story line. This one was a little too verbal with descriptions. We are a smart crowd and can figure things out visually. That being said, the second hour was great! It was just as it should be. Indy is about action, lots of action. If I want a verbal instruction, I can watch it on the History channel. I am a huge fan of Indiana Jones. If they had just made the film like the last hour, the film I felt , would have been much better. I felt the ending was a little too warm and fuzzy and you can tell they are setting things up for the son. A little less Lucas here and a little more Spielberg.

Great movie. Shia LeBeouf was really good. He would make a great Indy. Is this the beginning of Indiana Jones the Next Generation? Movie was action packed.
