Indian Jones for me ranks right up there with Star Wars as far as the special feeling I get when remembering movies from my childhood. I can still remember the lines we stood in to see them and how exhilerating it was to just be a the theater with everyone else waiting in anticipation to see Indy and Han Solo save the world, universe or whatever. When the new Star Wars movies were being talked about in the late 90's, that old feeling came back again. Only people from my generation were the ones that stood in lines ovenight to buy tickets. The movies, as it turned out were only pretty fair.
Lucas has waited nearly 20 years to make another Indiana Jones adventure. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has all the action, adventure and humor of it's predecessors but not so much of the magic that I remember.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great movie. A bit of a "fantastical" ending that left me a bit confussed. But over-all, everything an Indiana Jones movie should be. Harrison Ford is still great as Indy. Marcus Brody and Henry Jones Senior have both passed away and make "cameos" but nothing significant. karen Allen returns as Marian from the original and still looks great. Shia LaBeouf seems to be everywhere these days and may be being groomed to be passed the "Indy torch" so to speak.
My point with all this is, every generation has it's heros. Indy was one of mine. Now at 35 years of age, a new Indiana Jones doesn't do for me what it once did. I still love watching the first three. Those movies really take me back. But this movie should have been made 15 years ago while it still had some magic. It promps me to think that these movies were not made for me or a new generation, but for some sort of self-indulgence on the part of Lucas ond Speilberg. They are not the "Kings" of cinema the way the once were and may now be reaching for something to hold on to.
Thank you gentlemen for my youth, but it's time for a new generation of dreamers and directors and it's time for a new generation of heros.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

What in the world happend to Indiana Jones? Well in this installment we found out that Indy got really stupid. The whole story line was very, very weak. The actors appeared to be there for their pay checks and not for the craft of acting. This movie was terrible. My kids saw this movie and both of them said at the end, "This movie stinks."

I was a fan - but not enormously so - of the original Indiana Jones films. This entry was a fun one for the series, but there was simply too much CGI, particularly in the final 15 minutes of the film. The "tone" and "feel" of the movie kept with previous entries in the series. I would recommend it, but for people who haven't seen it yet, keep your expectations in check

This movie is fun. If you are a long-time Indy fan, as I am, it is a real pleasure to see the homages to Indy past. I may see it again just to see how many I can count. The movie is exciting and sweet. It is nice to see the character as an older man who is reviewing his life as only Indy could, and gets a chance to do-over. As always, it is wonderful fantasy . It reflects many delightful aspects of the most eccentric paranoias of the 1950s. The only criticism that I have is that it should be dated 52-53 not 57. The cars are wrong.

I was fairly disappointed with this movie. It had some very good action sequences. But in between the action stuff, the movie certainly did not hold your interest. Harrison Ford did some sub-par acting in my opinion. You would think that Spielberg and Lucas could have done a whole lot better.

Lots of cliff hangers, action and classic Indiana Jones' bad guys (and bad girl). For those of us old enough to remember the one that started it all, there are lots of hidden reminders that tie it all back together. This movie has lots of "watch it again and again" potential.

I thought the first half of the movie was great, but the second half was a disappointment plot wise (though great effects). I think the movie would have been so much better if they would have spent 30 more minutes covering the holes of the script (the FBI issue from the beginning is never closed, the promotion at the end isn't explained, why did the Russians want the case if they already had two bodies in the USSR, what did Indy's friend really say to the skull at the end, etc. etc...) Hopefully the DVD has quite a few deleted scenes. Also, how could Henry Jones Senior have passed away? Didn't he have eternal life (3rd movie)?

Identical format to the previous Indiana Jones movies. No surprises here. Action sequences not as frequent or intense as previous 3. Clearly just a money-making venture with little thought for the plot & content of the movie. Average at best, wait for DVD release or go to the matinee cheap showing.

Overall, the acting was good. I was pleasantly surprised to see Karen Allen reprise her earlier role. And I didn't realize Cate Blanchett was the baddie until the credits!
The script, though, was weak. There were just too many give-me-a-break concepts that left me incredulous. The magnetism, "life" in a dead skull, the whole alien thing strained credulity.
As a whole, it was mildly entertaining, but the story lacked imagination: no real surprises. Hollywood is still tolerating (even encouraging) mediocre script writers, as they have for the last 30 years.

Hey, relax, it's an Indiana Jones movie, not "Chariots of Fire"! The opening scene is worth the price of admission aIone. I do agree that the bad guys/girl were a little underdeveloped but the overall result is that the picture delivers just what it promises. Great action and many unexpected turns. Tying Karen Allen's character back with Shia LaBeouf as Indy's new "sidekick" was an excellent touch that provided the needed comic relief from all the action. If you're looking for a Academy Award material, go rent "Crash". If you want to see what Indiana Jones is up to in the late 1950's when he should be enjoying retirement, go get some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy! You won't be disappointed.

I was expecting much more from this movie. I found myself glancing at my watch during the film as I couldn't wait for it to finally be over. The story went far from the archaeological plots in past movies to a totally predictable science fiction story line. It was almost as if they wrote the movie for the "X files' and replaced Mulder with Indiana Jones.
One more thing, they call Indie "Henry" too many times in this movie.

I am an Indiana fan - so I enjoyed the movie but as my wife and I were driving back home, we both felt that Raiders was much better and there weer some holes in this movie and some editing issues (one major one at the end ). Ford as usual was great and it was nice to see Karen Allen back as Mary - but the Cate Balnchett and Shia LaBeouf characters could have been done better. Overall, it was good fun but .......

This was a BAD movie!!! You really need to suspend your disbelief for a lot of it. Like surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge, or falling off 3 waterfalls, and getting up like all you did was fall off the high dive. More importantly, how many punches can people take and not have a mark on them???
Shia LaBeouf, was a BAD Indy character. I was actually looking forward to the parts where he wasn't on the screen. Also for those of you who remember WHY Indiana Jones was so popular, was because he was like a James Bond except an Adventurer. Women don't find Shia LaBeouf HOT. So that is REALLY going to hurt the next few films if that is the direction they take.
Finally, at what point did George Lucas get confused and think he was writing another Star Wars flick? Indiana Jones and Aliens??? Give me a break, so I waited 20 years so Han Solo could find Yoda??? Couldn't we find Atlantis, or maybe another religious artifact? Once you got over seeing Indy on the screen again, this movie goes south fast. In fact, it starts going bad, right about the time he jumps in the fridge.
See it once...because you have too. Never see it again, cause you won't want too!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

First of all, if you haven't seen the last three movies, I recommend you do so before seeing Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. There are a lot of previous Indy movie references you would miss out on, and that was part of the fun of this film.
From the beginning to the end it was pure Indy action. The cinematography and direction were also reminiscent of the previous Indiana Jones films, which made it all feel familiar. Hearing John Williams' score was magic to my ears, too. I highly recommend picking up the CD or buying the MP3s.
I don't wish to go into detail and spoil the story, but I have to say that it wasn't quite what I was expecting for an Indy film. I'm not saying it wasn't good and I didn't enjoy it, but it just took a turn I didn't see coming.
Definitely a fun film, however, and most Indiana Jones fans will love it.

I had heard the mixed reviews of the movie, but had to see it for myself. I had also just watched "The Last Crusade" last weekend to get in the mood . I am not going to tell you that this is a better movie, but I thought it was every bit as good. "Crystal Skull" has all the elements that you expect from an Indy film... great action, witty dialog, and a perfect treatment of an older Harrison Ford.

We think people are feeling a little disappointed in the movie, because we have grown to expect the same characters to be in the series. I felt that way to begin with, but then I realized the movie itself was great, I just missed Sean Conray and the rest of the characters that we have grown to love. But, overall, we thought the movie was very exciting, the special affects were great, and was consistant with the calabra of the previous Indiana Jones movies. GREAT!

I'd been looking forward to this movie for quite a while (loved 2 of the first 3 movies -- could have done without Temple of Doom). So I was surprised when I kind of dozed off for about 3 minutes during some of the exposition with the communist woman and Indiana Jones. Other than that, I loved seeing Indy again, older and wiser. I thought it was a fair assessment of how he would have aged, both in attitude and chronological age. Some of the effects were a little out there -- come on, 3 falls down a waterfall and the older man held onto the crystal skull all three times??? Loved the interplay between Indy and Mutt -- well done! And the ending was great, too. Overall, a fun experience!

I was a little dissappointed in the latest Indiana Jones movie. They really should have stuck with the origional movie goals for these films. Kept it simple with good script, great action w/o the over abounding special effects and believable historical tails. Too much scifi. I'm glad to have saw the movie, Harrison Ford did a great job, as always.
