I enjoyed it. It's just like the old Indiana Jones films -- nonstop action and good story. The atomic age setting in the beginning doesn't quite fit with Indy nor blend well with the parts in South America. Speilberg's subtle pokes at communism are fun. Overall, a good entertaining movie.

I have no idea why people liked this movie so much. It was bad, and not campy bad. Just bad.
Mild spoilers ahead. Bad dialogue, no good one-liners like in Raiders or Crusade. Story was dull and uninspired. I could care less about what they were searching for. Characters were also quite boring and added no interest for me.
Aliens?! Aliens are not appropriate to Indiana Jones, pulp 1950's style maybe, but not Indiana Jones.
One of things that I liked about the other movies is that they had enough archaeological pseudo-facts it made the quests believable. They spent very little time on the actual archaeological reasoning behind what they were searching for.
Skip it. Don't even bother to rent it.

My family has loves the Indiana Jones movies from when they started. Me, being the smallest in the family I didn't really catch on. This one is soooooooooooooo much better than any other. Harrison Ford has keep himself going with the BEST action sences. This is a Truly good movie.

This was a decent movie but it took way too long to get into the main story line. This is a good movie for history or mythological buffs. I have to say, walking into this theater I didn't know what to expect. My Dad, a huge adventure and history buff said he was sceptical. Not sure how he would like it. So I went hoping for not too much prediction during the movie. No matter what throughout the movie I was just awe struck. My husband, uncle and I enjoyed it very much. I can't wait to complete my collection of Dr Jones movies. I was thrilled to see Karen Allen and John Hurt. Two professionals that did a terrific job keeping the energy alive. And Harrrison as timeless as Sean Connery. Loved it.

Maybe I am getting old and maybe the first three movies are looking better in hindsight, but any movie that resorts to extraterrestrials is in trouble. I can buy evil cultists (Temple of Doom) and artifact-seeking N-azis (Raiders of the Lost Ark), but aliens? C'mon, seriously. There were some good action/chase scenes and the actor who played Indiana's son was very likeable, so maybe there is hope for the franchise in the future. For now, I'd wait until it comes out on cable.

It's been a while Dr. Jones. I think for as much time has past since the last installment Mr. Speilberg and Mr. Lucas have once again given us some thing really cool to look at!! The fact that they tied up story lines regarding Marcus Brody and Dr. Jones Sr. is heart warming and at the same time gives Indy a little urgency, makes him very approachable. Mutt (Shia LaBouf) is very "Brando" but it plays and Marion ( Karen Allen) been a long time coming,she is just fantastic and Indy? Dont let his age fool you the guy can still kick major league butt!! The fact that they have our favorite archeologist moving through some interesting times in American history and playing with some popular mythology makes this movie exactly what they (Speilberg/Lucas) wanted Indy to be in the first place, a first rate action adventure Saturday matinee popcorn flick!!! Bravo!!! Its just a whole lota fun!!!

Let me start out by saying that this movie was entertaining...it was not jaw-dropping, but at the very least had it's moments. I mean, what other real reasons do moviegoers have to seriously go out and take in a movie if for no other reason to at least entertain us? After seeinig this, I had this ultimate feeling that just because Hollywood has been testing it's strength in the treasure hunting/adventure films department....Sahara, and of course the more popular Nat'l Treasure come to mind here....that this was their attempt at trying to trump all other competition. I could be way off base with that, and you can take it for what it's worth, but I kind of stand true to it. As I first started, it definately had it's components of thrills and spills, however, where this latest Indi-adventure goes awry is it's poor attempt of a story line towards the end. It left me leaving the theater saying, "Was that a missing episode of the X-Files?" I can see that Spielberg and Lucas had their hands all over this, but I just didn't see it for another output of my favorite archiologist and adventure seeker Indiana Jones. Harrison as always is buffering his incredibly outstanding career here as is the young Shia Lebouf now just really letting his true talents be seen, but ultimately, I could of waited for the DVD.

Had to go and see it just because I grew up watching the others. Plot - saggy.... what was that whole FBI/McCarthyism subplot that went nowhere? - might have been interesting, but in retrospect just looked stupid. Other elements of plot - what you would expect...but that's okay. YOu don't go to see this to get character development... So the stunts - pretty good, but I found the ancient puzzles etc a bit wanting... Mind you they are competing with National Treasure these days, so maybe they decided to concentrate on the action. Cate Blanchett was good, but the baddies weren't quite evil enough for this level of escapism. Karen Allen was cute, the boy was tolerable, Ray Winston was mugging furiously, and Ford actually did not do a bad job. Overall, it was Popcorn entertainment that I felt tempted just enough to watch at the cinema as opposed to DVD, and the movie got away with it.. just....

None of the subsequent films to "Raiders' has lived up to that movie's standards, and this one is no exception. Ford is a great actor but he's done this character to death and Indy can never again be anything but a caricature of himself. Since Indy is obviously older, they couldn't make Germans the enemy, so they made the Soviets the enemy, Unfortunately, the film's Soviets were carbon copies of the first film's Germans. I got the feeling throughout the entire film they were trying to recreate the "Raiders" mystic, but they made a mistake, in my opinion, making the "new religion" little green men rather than sticking with real religion or religious icons. As a man of faith, I found it impossible to relate to the premise. Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone and John Hurt did what they could with the recycled material they were given. They didn't shine, but they weren't terrible, either. Shia LaBeouf was great, providing a fresh storyline for the Indy series. He didn't sound like he was delivering lines from 25 years ago, as Ford often did. As for the sets and location shooting, they all looked like a conglomeration of all three of the earlier films. Direction? I never thought I'd say this about a Spielberg film, but he could have mailed this one in, so uninspired it was. Don't spend eight to ten dollars to see this film. Wait for it to come out on DVD, or pay-per-view on cable. Better yet, wait for it to be the feature movie for the month on HBO. Otherwise you're wasting your money.

I genuinely enjoyed this movie. There are a lot of things that I think they could've improved upon, but mostly enjoyable. I don't agree with the Indiana Jones meets ET theme, because Indiana is mostly earthly, and deals with earth's archeology. the whole ET theme sends it into pseudo science fiction. The last part was corny. (Bones coming together to form the thing....) Shia, Harrison are good. Too much time away from Hollywood for Karen.

... and not in a good way... tried to be too cheeky with reused quotes and jokes about harrison being old. i don't like aliens - that was just kind of dumb. i don't remember the 80s indy movies being as violent... but, maybe they were. the ant scene was disgusting. harrison's always good. the new kid was OK but the 50s stuff was over-the-top. i didn't hate it, but i definitely didn't love it.

I think if you are a fan, then you are a fan. Harrison Ford is great no matter what he is in. So Indy is older now, aren't most of us!!! It was a little slower pace than the first ones, but common sense would tell you that he isn't going to move quite as fast as 20 years ago. I like the Indiana Jones movies, so I was thrilled at another release. Looked to me like they are setting us up for a series of Indiana Jones Jr. movies. Sounds ok to me.
