If think you know what will happen in the movie simply because you've read the book, think again. Many times the events on the screen wildly deviated from those written in our well worn and tattered pages of HP 6. I'll refrain from too much detail, but my 10 year old son and I were somewhat disappointed when the Dursley's didn't even make an appearance! We really wanted to see them getting whacked on the head with glasses of mead. The movie keeps to the basic story line, but many of the details have been changed. Overall still an excellent experience.

The best one yet! There are many humorous parts, in addition to the 'thriller' parts. I was surprised a few times with this one. BTW- I LUV all the Weasley's-they're cute and quirky!!!

Best Harry Potter movie yet. The comedy in this movie just made it fun. All the little things in the movie that the characters would have done but aren't in the books made us see the character personality a little better. For instance the part at the very beginning with the waitress. Didn't really happen in the book, but Harry Potter is the right age for things like that to happen to him in his every day life. Once again AMAZING movie! Can't wait for the next two!

It's got a lot of inside jokes for real Potterphiles. However,way too much of the original story ended up on the editing room "floor". For those who have only seen the movies, the plot will be confusing. The scenery is fantastic and the Quiddich action is first rate.

The film is amazing to look at (the new cinematographer is definitely a hit) and the scenes they include have a good feel to them. I missed some key things from the books about Voldemort and especially the shortchanging of the major event at the end of the film. Still, this is probably the best Harry Potter yet.

The effects and stuff was pretty good, but I must declare myself extremely disappointed with the music. Throughout the movie, I believe I heard Hedwig's Theme once or twice, and the other signature Harry Potter songs were nonexistent. The only other recognizable music was in Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, and that was only in The Order of the Phoenix. Also, they added an unnecessary scene, and took out key things. Anyone who hadn't read the book came out of the theater very confused.

I took my 12-yr old son to see the movie and we both loved it. The imagery in your head when you read the book comes amazingly to life on the big screen. Knowing the plot did not diminish our enjoyment at all. The movie was wonderful, sad, joyous, heartbreaking and triumphant all at once. We left the theatre talking about seeing it again and eagerly anticipating the next installment.

This was a GREAT movie! It acknowledged the age-appropriate changes in each of the main characters -- Harry needing to shave, for instance :)
The way in which the script builds the conflict between Draco and Harry, as well as the several mini-climax moments is absolutely entrancing. I can't wait to go see the movie again!

I realize that it is incredibly hard to replicate the magic of JK Rowling's books in 2 hour movies, but Half Blood Prince jumped all over the place. If people hadn't read the books, they would have been lost for sure. I did like the romantic teenage tension, and Hermione is one of my favorite young actresses. The special effects were okay when the deatheaters swoop in and out, but getting the Horcrux scene was very lame, and the scene at the Weasley's was so out of context you didn't know what to do with it. I will say, the first movie is still my favorite followed by the Goblet of Fire, the rest have been disappointments... not to say I won't spend my $9 to go see the next ones.

As Harry Potter and his companions mature it is expectected that the subject matter will mature along with them. The movie does have more romance among the teens. The danger is more real than in the previous movies.
I enjoyed this movie but it is not my favorite of the series. The battle was lost to evil in this one which is not easy to bear when the next installment is a year away.

Hmm.. where to start? I guess, for me, the sixth Harry Potter movie was a disappointment. Not only did it stray from the book, it was also compiled together in a rather confusing jumble. I have read all the books, but I feel that the sixth movie would be especially mind-boggling to anyone who had not read the series. The romance was tolerable, and there were some extremely funy bits, but overall, I do not believe that this movie captured the essence of the book "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."

I thought parts were very good. Special effects were great! I hated that the Weasley house was destroyed. Never happened. I hated that so much time was spent on teenage angst and so little time on learning more about Voldemort. I liked that they showed how much this was destroying Draco. Tom Felton played his part to perfection! I liked that we saw a glimpse into the fact that Snape might be good and this was more evident than the book let on. Rupert Grint did well playing lovesick as well.

Part of the issue in this series of movies is the ablility to get past the hype to view the individual movies objectively.The aging of the actors and the loss of the Head Master both are handled beautifully. I was surprised by the handliing of the surmise of Harry's hero. The greatest scene is the point at which Harry and his master face incredible odds both rising to the occasion magnificently. The maturity of the threesome is very interesting as well as quite humorous.The handling of the young "dark lord" was interesting but lacked the finish of the other characters. The rise of the "Half Blood Prince" was well done but should have been better developed in the interactions of the evil duo. .

I walked into the theatre expecting something much like the previews. It was good but fell short. The acting, setting, graphics all met my expectations, but the story didn't make it all the way up the hill and over. There were so many things that needed to be explained and unless the director can make it all come full circle in the next movie, I will feel slightly robbed of what could have been a great movie. Humor, Romance, and Memories. These are the three elements that pulled HBP together. Ron's wonky ride with love had us all laughing, and Harry getting "high," for lack of a better term, on felix felicis was definitely an enjoyable moment. However I fear the true plot of the story was overshadowed with the teenage lifestyle portion. I enjoyed every scene, but I craved more plot and was, quite frankly, let down when I saw no funeral and no Hogwarts battle. Nonetheless everything pulled together nicely and I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It has become one of my favorites among the series. I just wish there had been more of a balance so that the mystery of the Half-Blood Prince would have been more prevalent.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

If you've read the book, you will be severely disappointed. This movie leaves out key elements of the story. It wastes your time with stuff that it is not in the book and changes other aspects of the story.
I don't see how, after this movie, that #7 can be made without a complete departure from the story J.K. wrote. So many plot lines were ignored and changed in this movie that it should not be allowed to use the H.P. & T.H.B.P. title for it.
If the same team of screenwriter(s) is working on #7, I won't go to see it, nor will I buy it on DVD.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Good movie, however, as was stated previously, I am aware that 600 pages cannot fit into a 2 1/2 hour movie, BUT WOW, it seems like there was whole lot missing! Bottom line? Read the book!!!!!!!!

While the movie was dark (it's dark times, man) it also had a fair bit of romance and some subtle humour as well. I thought the movie was okay, except I felt that there were gaps, and they left a LOT out. Overall, I was disappointed.
