Overall, it was exciting although I would have preferred a little more in depth detail. Had you not read the book, I don't believe you'd leave the theatre with a full understanding of what had happened or will be happening soon. If they plan to begin the next movie with the fight scene this one should have ended with, I'd give them a "brilliant" rating for planning.

Well first impression is this movie was amazing. It was one of the movies that followed the book more and was directed with brilliance. But let's break down Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I didn't mind that the beginning was different. It did get a little annoying that the ending was changed a bit and i certainly didn't like the fact that Albus had no white funeral. I also do understand that not everything can be fit into the movie. And since there was so much plot and development, there wasn't much action. Even after all that, I give The Half-Blood Prince the highest possible rating.

I loved this book. I am a huge fan of the books and the movies. I loved the treatment of the book in this movie. No it was not as action packed as the others, but this book isn't action packed - it had a lot of humor. The actors did a great job in this movie. Their acting ranges have really expanded. I went to this movie with my 14 year old son and we both loved it.

So the movie was great for those who never read the book. To me it seemed like they over emphasized the romance aspects and went to far with the Lavender-Ron-Hermione deal. Ginny and Harry seemed awkward at times. It is one of the more serious books- yet it became a romantic comedy at some points.The emphasis on Draco and his 'mysterious activities' was good but I would've liked to have seen more memories instead.
Overall I was happy I saw it but left wondering how they are going to make up for the missing parts in the next two movies. Hopefully they will do better seeing as they are splitting the last book into two films.

I have read all the books and seen all the movies. This was a pretty good representation considering all that was in the book. Yes, this focused more on the relationships than the horcruxes. Why do they change the story? the weasley's house going up in flames? i didn't get the purpose for that, it wasn't in the book, and seemed random in the movie. And at the end, (in the book) in the tower where Dumbledore made it impossible for Harry to help, the movie just shows him observing. why change it when you have a perfectly written story, that many people have already read. all in all, a pretty good potrayal for 2.5 hours.

This movie is less intense than it's predecessors. Unlike Phoenix, quiddich is again in the movie, although it is Ron, not Harry that proves prominent. A good portion of the story is the romances, which does reduce the amount of effort put into learning about Voldemort's history. Humor is more in abundance, which is a nice touch since readers of the Deathly Hollows know how intense the final two movies will be.
The tempo of this movie was a bit slower which might not appeal to people desiring a higher action content, and the battle at the end was significantly scaled back (probably the biggest downer).
All in all, an engrossing movie, but probably not one to be viewed over and over.

I have read some of the reviews and some people complained about the length of the movie. I never even notices how long it was because I was being entertained and it was well worth the cost of a movie ticket these days.
Full of action and imagination. I have only read the first half of the first book, so I really have no idea how true the movie was to the books. All I know is that I was completely entertained and would recommend this move to my friends.

The best Harry Potter movie yet. It was hilarious and touching at the same time. The important scenes were in the movie and the acting was better than ever. The greatest scene for me was the ending scene with Dumbledore and Snape. I couldn't stop from crying.

An excellant addaptation of the book. There were some ommissions/changes that actually worked just fine. However, I was disappointed that they did not show Dumbledore's funeral, as it was the most emotional scene in the book. Overall, a great experience!

I agree with Shanitequa - I wish I hadn't spent the money on the tickets. The movie lacked the details from the book. If you had not read the book first, the movie would have been great. The other Harry Potter movies were much better. Over all disappointed. The 6th Harry Potter takes a happy turn as it gives Potter fans a break from the intense story line and gives you a chance to laugh and enjoy life at Hogwarts. I'm a huge fan of the books, and while they did mess some of the it up, it was still a very enjoyable movie. I laughed a lot and would recomend it to fan and non-fan alike. An enjoyable break from the dark 5th movie and the soon to be intense 7th book movies. Go see it, it's worth it.

If you are a Harry Potter fan, you will love this movie. Only the book snobs don't. Movies are never as good as the books, but Harry Potter movies come as close to the books as they can. Very entertaining. Wonderful to see these kids grow up. Lot of good messages in this movie. Appeals to a very diverse crowd. Seven of us went on day 1. Five theaters sold out! People applauded at the end; conversations were, "I can't wait until the next one!"

Not as good as the previous movies. Exceptionally long at 2.56 hours, and most of the action scenes were used during the trailer. Very slow moving, and unfortunately predictable. I am not a fan of the books, haven't read any of them, but my wife has and she felt it wasn't true to the book. Most folks who've seen the others will want to see this one, and it is entertaining to a certain extent.

Movie was average. I'd recommend seeing it, just so you're not behind for the next couple of movies. Too much petty drama, and the real plot of the story seemed to be in the background rather than the foreground. Also, the PG rating seemed pretty mild after watching the movie. I would not recommend this for children under 13- lots of scary/disturbing images, and the story itself was also very dark.

This is an important movie in the Harry Potter saga but be advised the writers, director and producers have taken significant liberties with the details from the book. The teen love angst with Ron was overdone. Yet the relationship between Harry and Ginny was underdone. The treachery of Snape and the death of Dumbledore were too understated. The important elements of the disappearing cabinet, the bezoar and the horcruz made screen time but the books are full of details of those elements that the director assumed (mistakenly) was obvious. The scenery,cinematography, dialog and effects were brilliant. Go see it, buy it later for your collection. The best is yet to come.

I was totally bored during this movie and fell asleep a couple of times. This movie is geared towards the teenyboppers/teen crowd with the juvenile love line/hormone induced romances. No plot line whatsoever. DO NOT SEE if you value your time.

Save your money this should be straight to dvd. I did nothing but waste time from my life that I will never get back. This would have been ok to watch on DVD before I went to see the next one. The next movie better knock my socks off

It was nothing like the book. Way too much left out of the story line. The book is centered around the Half Blood Prince and the movie never says who the Prince was. Maybe the movie people are going to have another movie to fill in all the things in the last half of the book.
