I was expecting so much more from this movie, however I still enjoyed it. I felt like nothing really happened and that it was, for the most part, a movie that had more explaining than action. You definitely would have to have seen all the previous HP movies to understand this one, so I would not recommend someone who did not really know anything about HP to watch this one alone. I do agree that it was a diluted version of the book, and I guess that is understandable-the whole family friendly type thing-but I think for true HP fans it's a little disappointing...

I went to the midnight opening of HP6 and I was not disappointed by it, unlike Twilight. This movie definitely has my recommendation for fans of Harry Potter to go see it. The movie is as good as the first and second HP movies, which are the only movies that came really close to the books and are my personal favorite.The movie follows the book as closely as it can. There's drama, romance, grief, shock, and everything you would expect in a HP film. I definitely recommend anyone to go see this film.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much of the book was captured by the movie (compared to previous ones). I do agree with other reviewers that the final battle between the Death Eaters & the Order should have been included (would have been more dramatic than the bridge scene, which was just a mention in the book). That said, I think the actors gave their best performances all around for this one. Rupert has great comedic timing and Daniel & Emma have both grown so much with emotional scenes. I understand the reason for the lighting being darker (to match the darker theme) but I do think the director overdid it & made some scenes more difficult on the eyes than necessary. But I liked it overall. It's definitely worth seeing!

This movie was good, Don't get me wrong. I have seen all potter movies, but this one was the worst one ive seen...the action was minimal and when things happened that were big the actors weren't into it. Maybe this movie was put together quickly to start filming on the last 2 or what. I don't know. but this movie was just a filler. Not enough action and too much teen romance. Though i will admit i didn't see that one coming....

I've seen the movie 3 times. It was a very good film. However, I was taken aback by the direction the movie took. There were some big differences from pen to screen. I do understand that with a book of that magnitude you cannot include every event, however I think one crucial scene was omitted-the battle at the end sets the tone for things to come. The wizard world is becoming dangerous and Hogwarts is no longer safe. Leaving the theater all 3 times, that was the criticism heard by viewers. Many are wondering if the next one/s are going to be watered down (PG) as well. It needed more action. The ending was weak, as are other HP movies. That taken into account, it is a movie worth seeing. I am hoping the next book is done justice.

This one seemed more like just a "filler" movie-Filling time till the next one. It really didn't go anywhere. I expected to have a bigger scene at the end-possibly with LV- but he was a no-show. In fact, everyone in the theater seemed confused that it was over when the credits started rolling. I agree with other reviewers, too much sappy teen lust, and Draco did wimper alot. Unless I missed something, the "Half-Blood Prince", whose name I won't mention, was no big deal. They only talked about it a couple times. I do think, though, that this movie did play a good role in setting up the final movie.

Rowling and the folks have taken advantage of the loyal fan following of Harry and friends. They take into account that at least 90% of the movie goers have thoroughly read the books and therefore leave entire chapters and characters out of all the movies, moreso in this crucial turning point than anything. The beautiful thing about JK's works was that she took seemingly insignificant details in previous volumes and turned them into major plot points in the end. And this has been gravely overlooked by the WB and movie peeps. The movie was like swiss cheese, tasty, but had a few holes.

I thought maybe the cast was getting too old but they seemed right on target. The openiong scenes were cinematically gorgeous. I liked the darker setting. Dumbledore's robe seemed weak and too understated.

I personally think this movie did not follow the books very well. Its leaves alot unsaid for the 7th book. Such as Dumbledore told Harry his ideas for the other horcruxes, but not in the movie. There was no mentioning that Harry has owenership of Sirius's house or Kreacher, but yet we except a great deal of that in the 7th book. Also, what was up with Dumbledores wand being on his desk, its supposed to buried with him. I'm also mad they did not show the fight scene at the end or dumbledores funeral. While I think the filming and acting was great, it just left me wanting more. Not the best Potter movie as I had anticipated. Makes me weary for the 7th installments since David Yates is back on bored again.

I enjoyed the movie. However, lthe movie misses something without the Dursley's home. Without the Dursley's house in this film, I wonder if we can expect the Dursley's and their house in the 7th film-I think is essential. It shows Harry has "grown up" and in some way...so has Dudley...he finally began to "value" Harry.
The relationship between Harry & Ginny is done well, but, when is Harry going to "break up" since he has to leave? And I why did Ginny go with Harry to the room of "lost" items? How will Harry remember the location of a certain item, if Ginny hid the book?
I look forward to seeing how they resolve this...unfortunately, we all need to wait until November 2010 and July 2011 or longer to find out.

Movies from well liked books often disappoint. This movie told its story well, but alluded to other story lines without enough info, leaving questions rather than story. Perhaps the questions are to be answered in the continuation of the story. Perhaps they were answered in the book. i don't know, because I refused to read the book till after the movie came out. I read Order/Phoenix before seeing the movie and was very upset that I kept expecting a certain story line events, but they did not appear.

It followed the main plot of the book, however they did leave out some details that would have better helped if you have not read the books. They should have focused more on the text book helping out Harry, and built it up more to who exactly was the half blood prince and how they tried to figure it out, and less about teen romance. The movie was pretty simple until the fight scene but that's where the book hit it's climax. They also should have focused more on the "good Snape, bad Snape" that wasn't nearly as portrayed as it should have been. All in all it hit the main points fairly well!

If you have never read the book then it was a good movie. However if you have read the book then in my opinion extremely disappointing. I have two problems with the movie, 1) how could they leave out the giant fight seen at the end? It was my main reason for wanting to see the movie. 2) I felt like they didn't focus enough on Harry and Ginny's relationship and the Half blood prince. I really hope they redeem their selves in the final two movies.

I liked and i didn't all at once.... I mean I knew they were obviously going to leave things off of the movie-- too much for only 2 1/2 hours, but they left off everything about Snape's family and his past--- when that was the whole reason it is called the half blood prince. They're also going to have issues in the next movie considering they left off the apparating(can't remember the spelling) lessons entirely. Not to mention leaving the funeral off like that, and an entire fight scene-- the one in the room of requirements. Leaving off the new minister of magic and Fleur and bills engagement....

This was the best of the series. It was pretty true to the book. This director included most all of the important elements of the story in a very grown up intelligent way. The imagery was stunning. It was great that the director could get us to necessary points with dragging it out. He realized we know what is happening when we see it & can connect all of the dots wi/out much help. He didn't just cut out vast amts. of the book but found creative ways to include the info in a shorter form. It was very funny, & very touching. The relationship among the 3 main characters matured wonderfully in this movie. It was fabulous!! See it today!!

I thought the movie was very good! I liked how it had a lot of different story lines. I liked the funny parts and the teenage love stories that it included. You could actually hear a pin drop when Dumbledore died. I saw several people wiping away tears. It is sad to see the characters get older.

I was, yet again, thrilled that the 6th installment outdid the 5th. I continue to be sucked into each and every character as I've watched them grow at Hogwarts.
Let's just say that "hormones have arrived at Hogwarts"...and in a completely appropriate way I must add...mom's...no need to panic here at the PG rating.
As much as I would love to go into detail, I fear that I may give away a secret to those who have not seen Half Blood Prince. So, I will just state that young and old alike will just love Harry, Ron and Hermione moving forward this year:-)

I have enjoyed all the Harry Potter movies before, but this was a snooze: there was nothing new in it. We have seen the catching the snitch game before, we have seen people waving their wands, we have seen the train traveling across the countryside before, and with much better photography.
In fact the photography was poor, the acting, apart from Malfoy, was predictable, the fire scene was Hollywood at its worst, and there was no sense of surprise. What happened?
What remained was a tender story of adolescent romance and frustration, which was well done. however, this is not enough to make the long film worthwhile.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The actual amount of action is slim compared to the previous films- the majority of the movie is foreshadowing (mainly concerning Draco and Snape). However the time spent concerning Harry, Ron, and Hermoine was superb. It embodied the theme and mood of the book very well. Overall, I wasn't dissappointed by the movie and still crave the final film.

I am a bit disappointed in David Yates' translation of the HBP into film. Yates has taken unnecessary journeys away from story and has failed to capture scenes necessary to bring the important plot lines to the screen.
The HBP is beautifully filmed. The dark mood of the story is captured in the tones and colors of the production. Watson is great. Radcliffe and Grint also show some nice work. Felton does a nice job as the young death eater.
Fans of the books will follow the story without much trouble,though the uninitiated may need some help.
If you were waiting for the big battle scene at the end of the book, you will be disappointed.
It is a fun film for fans. Probably not what you were hoping for, but a good effort.

For the majority of the movie I was entertained and impressed by the Directors output. I can even forgive the fire scene at Ron's house that was no where in the book. But the ending was bad. It just lost the flow and it felt like the Director was running out of time and "just get it finished" I still recommend the movie and will watch again. So close to fanstastic, but poor execution at the end.

The movie is more many subplots without a main theme. Too much teen angst, yes its tough to be young and in love, but that point is beaten to a dead pulp. And yes, Malfoy is torn by what he's supposed to do, but how much moping do we need to see? Too ltttle attention is paid to Dumbledore's 'mission' or why someone else is the Half-Blood Prince.
Simply, the prior movies were much better.

I liked the movie for the most part. The fight scene that was at the end was supposed to be bigger and longer, and the funeral was supposed to be longer also. Other than that I thought that it was a great movie, I would say it was my second favorite Harry Potter movie. I also honestly think they could have made it a little longer in certain scenes!!
