I was pleasantly surprised at how much of the book was captured by the movie (compared to previous ones). I do agree with other reviewers that the final battle between the Death Eaters & the Order should have been included (would have been more dramatic than the bridge scene, which was just a mention in the book). That said, I think the actors gave their best performances all around for this one. Rupert has great comedic timing and Daniel & Emma have both grown so much with emotional scenes. I understand the reason for the lighting being darker (to match the darker theme) but I do think the director overdid it & made some scenes more difficult on the eyes than necessary. But I liked it overall. It's definitely worth seeing!
Madea is always hilarious to watch, but I think she (& Tyler) outdid themselves with her antics this time. I've really needed a good laugh for a while & it was nice to enjoy so many with this movie. There are, of course, some touching poignant moments throughout it as well, but they're spaced far enough apart with laughs to keep them from depressing the overall tone. The starting credit photos from Madea's past & the ending credit outtake of Madea & Dr. Phil were nearly as funny as the material left in the move. I would have preferred a more rounded ending, but overall it was a laughfest with Tyler's usual/touching story moral. Good job.
