Having read several of the uncomplimentary reviews on this site about the latest Harry Potter movie, I must ask, "Did we see the same movie?" I was in a packed house at the Warren Theater in Moore. People were laughing out loud, gasping in fright, and generally caught up in the world of the wizards. 2:33? It was over so fast. The people who produced, filmed, directed, and wrote the screen play for the Twilight series should have used the staff who did the Potter series.

The movie was pretty and well made. Adolescent love is interesting .... for a while. I went to the 8:15 pm show and fell asleep for a brief bit of the movie. The movie needed editing. 2 1/2 hours was too long. There were long, unnecessary scenes. It was merely a transition movie to bring Harry to the final book. If you are invested in the franchise, then you don't have a choice. It is your duty to pay your money and see Half Blood Prince. It just was not that much fun. Pass me my pillow and wake me up when the credits roll.

This has to be by far the worst HP movie I have seen, I was so disapointed. The movie doesn't follow the book at all! They even added two extra sceens that weren't even in the book. I can only hope they get a different director for the next two movies, Deathly Hallows part I & II

I've enjoyed all the movies and thuroughly enjoyed this one as well. I didn't feel it was too long. There was soooo much info it needed to be this long. This could have easily been another hour. The actor portraying Ron really stepped up in this one and showed amazing talent. The new love connection between Harry and Ginny wasn't very convincing though.
I'll agree w/ other reviewers, if you are really into the books, you will be dissapointed. My daughter left feeling more frustrated than anything. I've just done the movies, so was wonderfully entertained. The cinematography was outstanding. Loved this movie!

I have read all the books & still thought the movie was great. Yes, there were major differences & thigns were left out, but the main concept was not missing. The special effects were great & the humor was a pleasant surprise. I can't wait to see it again!

The special effects were awesome, and I would give them a 10. The story, however, was disappointing mostly and I would give it a 7. Why do they deviate from the story? They could have made two movies out of this book and folks would have accepted that and been extremely supportive. But for whatever reasons, they didn't and they changed a lot of things. So, how will they tie up the story in the next two movies? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

If you have read the books, you won't be pleased with this movie at all. Important key pieces were left out, meaningless "fluff" added, story line was all over the place. The movie moved slow, and lacked any real action. All in all a big disappointment.

This movie was much closer to the book than the OoP was. The audience was laughing over the teen romance parts and crying with the death of Dumbledore. Yes, the movie wasn't exactly like the book, but I gave up on that issue when they had to replace the original Dumbledore, in the 3rd movie....From that point on, the movies often strayed from the books...though, I think, this movie has done the best job of resembling the book than movies 3, 4 or 5 did. I thought it was a really good movie.

Let me start out by saying everyone is tearing this movies a part for not being like the books.....but it's not a book it's a movie. To perfectly adapt this book into a movie it would have been 5 or 6 hours long if not longer. My feeling is you have to go in knowing the movie is not going to be as good as the book. It is truly a rarity when movies are better than books. They did leave out a lot and I won't go into all the details of exactly what but I will simply say that this movie is well worth the 9.75 I payed and recommend this to anyone who wants to see a good movie without caring about whether or not it completely follows the book!

The movie keeps true to the original story, with the exception of a few minor changes that don't effect the overall storyline. Tom Felton does an excellent job as Draco, and at times you want to feel really sorry for him. Helena Bonham Carter is incredible as Bellatrix Lestrange, and you can't help but feel mesmerizing by her presence on-screen. The scene at the cave with Dumbledore and Harry is the best in the entire movie. It shows you how big of a role they play in each other's lives. This all leads to a climactic ending, and you can feel the emotions of all the characters on-screen. The ending was really well done, and makes me look forward to seeing what they do with Deathly Hallows.

What happened? I thought the previous movies were great and I even purchased them. This one left me wondering about a refund policy. Special effects were good but the storyline did not follow the book and the pandering to the younger audience with created scenes not taken from the book was disappointing. Inserted humor so out of character for Dumbledore was just bad.

I liked the movie... but being a big HP fan, I wanted to LOVE the movie. I didn't leave the theater feeling that I wanted to turn around and see it again. Not much action, too much relationship stuff (I should have know when I saw that the main song was titled "Friends and Love." If you've read the book, you will be disappointed that major parts were left out.

I made the mistake of rereading the book before seeing the movie, which just ramped up my expectations, which weren't met. Sure the movie looks good and they hit some of the superficial points of the story, but the heart of the story...how Voldemort turned evil, while Harry remains good despite similar experiences, Harry's inexplicable connection to Snape, and Dumbledore's sacrifice for Harry as yet another important figure who leaves his life were all missed. The ending sucks. Harry would not just sit quietly by the sidelines. There just was no nuance to the movie. I know it's hard with such a long book, but they could have tweaked some things in the scenes that did cover that would have made it much more satisfying.

Somehow this movie removed any emotional impact from Harry's love life and the death of his famed mentor. Despite 2 and a half hours of camera tricks and special effects, one leaves the theatre feeling a bit bored and disappointed. What it lacked in depth, it made up for in length, but it is an incomplete payment.

The movie followed the book closely. This was my least favorite book, and so far my least favorite movie - although I am glad I saw it. The movie is long and could have been shortened. Too much time spent on teen cuteness - distracting from the story line.

It's been awhile since I read this book, but I remember that it was not my favorite HP book. At the same time, it provides a necessary bridge in the story. I would say the movie followed my expectations and did the same thing. I liked the movie alot, it moved the story as it should. Like the books, the movies are becoming darker in theme, so the teen humor was greatly appreciated. I do recall alot of the book being centered on the teen relationships, so wasn't surprised or disappointed in the movie for going down those roads, either. Again, important movement in the story. I enjoyed it a great deal as did both of my teens. Great show and I'm definitely looking forward to the final 2 movies!

While the special effects in this movie were by far fantastic, several major plot elements were left out. I was eager to see the film, as many stated just the opposite - that this film out of all of them followed the novel exactly. They are sorely mistaken. Although the film provided many laughs and wonderfully acted roles as usual, it failed to produce the total package because of the omission of crucial scenes. I would recommend this film, as with all HP films but it left me a bit disappointed.

I have been following HP fan sites for about 5 years now and have never had high expectations for the films, having read film updates and interviews with the directors and cast months in advance. HBP did have more comedy than the previous 5 but once again, WB did not completely follow the plot. David Yates didn't butcher HBP as much as OOTP but he added several scenes that were not in the book as well as alterations of scenes I was really looking forward to seeing as described by Rowling. Vital scenes and info from the plot was also left out and they did a horrible job on the ending.As usual with WB, don't set your expectations too high if you're a fan of the books. It's good but not great.

I've read all of the books and have seen all of the movies. This movie bears little if no resemblance to the book. I was confused and lost at times. It wasn't until the end when references were made to the horcruxes did I find references to the books. That said, my two neices (14 and 12) really enjoyed the movie - they had never read the book

If you are a fan of the book, stay home and wait for the dvd. The movie is wayyyyy to long, tedious & at times downright boring. Huge portions of story were omitted including what could have been a beautiful funeral for Dumbledore. The director basically made his death a footnote. I was most upset by the "Lord of the Rings" vibe I caught. I left the movie feeling it's purpose was not to tell it's own portion of the story but to get the audience set up for the final two movies still to come. Yes there are great special effects and if you've only seen the movies, you will probably like this. Fans of the book will feel cheated.

harry potter's latest movie has all the warmth and humor of the previous movies but adds a darker element similar to the feeling of the goblet of fire... i read the books and knew the ending but still was moved by the film.... i only wish that more of the book's build up of the chilling conclusion would have been put on screen for everyone to see....

The movie was great, the only parts I thought were important and were left out were whenever Dumbledore goest to pick up Harry at his uncle's house. It was a funny part in the book and finally, The White Tomb. Overall, I loved it, went to midnight show for it and it was worth it!! so it didnt fill all of our expectations! The magic is alive!!! FEAR ME.... I AM A MUGGGLE!

I am devistated that the major battle was omitted. What were they thinking? The battle was a major turning point in the series and it was not there. My only hope is that it will be part of the next movie. When someone ask me how it was. My first question is, have you read the book. This was the first book I have read and I wish I had not...........

It's a Harry Potter movie, so of course it is very good. However the movie suffers from some severe choppy movies where it feels like entire sections of the movie have been left out to keep the time down. Last night we went with a large group of potter fans, all of which had read the books but one.
The folks that had read the novels had no problem linking the disjuncted scenes, but they were most definitely noticeable. However the friend who had NOT read the novel spent the entire night in a very confused state. She kept thinking she was missing something, when in truth they had left out the key element needed to understand the various scenes.

this movie was very boring, not much sorcery the first 3 movies had much more. not much action, again the previous movies had much more.and they aught to get an academy award for how to drag out a half hour movie into two and a half hours. and no I didn't read the book yet but it must be way better than this movie.
