Excellent movie. More complex than the others but pretty gripping and thought provoking (and still suspenseful even though I had read the book).
My 10 year old son said it should get 4.5 stars...I say 5.

Wish we didn't have to wait so long to see this, but it was worth it. Very good, true to book for the most part. Kept us on our toes and we were disappointed when it was over. Every emotion was touched upon, laughter, joy, sadness, anger. In that order. Will probably go see it again. Some scenes were a bit scary for the younger kids - and a few women screamed in the audience. A lot of teenage kissing - maybe a bit too much. Otherwise, highly recommend!

It makes you feel like you are back home. You are with friends and family participating in their adventures. It was nice to see the jealousy, love, and maturity of all the characters. The Weasley brother's magic shop was done well. And even though the book was elaborated on in parts, you did get a good feeling for the book. If you want to enjoy it you need to sit in the middle of the theater so you can really fly with them. It was fun!!!!!!!

Harry's evolving relationship with Dumbledore was spot-on, and Tom Felton's Draco Malfoy surpassed even the books. And Snape - let's just say that you won't want to miss Alan Rickman's portrayal of "the moment."
In the end, this movie captures the heart we all loved from the books - and that's friendship. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are there for each other, through the horrors and the wonders. Even more than wanting to be whisked off to the wonderful school of Hogwarts, what we all want is a good friend, and this movie lets us experience both vicariously for an hour or two.

After reading all the reviews and seeing the previous movies, this one just fell flat. Hit on some of the high points of the book but did not develop much of the story. Not bad but not good and certainly not worth standing in line for. Would have been fine to wait for it to come out on dvd. Definitely not worth the extra 10 month or so delay. Very disappointed.

This movie missed the plot more than Pearl Harbor. To much emphasis on relationships and not enough on important plot points form the book. The scene with the burrow burning brought nothing to the film while taking away time that could have been given to another memory.

this movie was a big let down! Don't get me wrong I am a big fan and I know they can't put all the detail in the movie but there was just WAY TOO MUCH LEFT OUT! I love the Harry Potter Series! The latest installment is definitely a must see. I was amazed at the number of older citizens in the audience. That just proved to me that Harry Potter is loved by all ages! Excited about the last movie's release but sad that the series will be completed.

The first several Harry Potter movies followed a very basic format for their plots. Harry hates the muggle world, gets to hogwarts, faces a mystery, solves the mystery, faces a bad guy, lives to hate the muggle world again. So I was quite surprised when this movie actually broke away from its predecessors. This installment really does add a great deal of humor, moving away from the very depressing tone of the last couple of movies, bringing new life to the fanchise. My only greviance against this episode of Harry and Friends is that it seemed to be (in the most part) a stepping stone from the last movie to the next. My opinion: this movie is different from the others but still very good on its own.

i thought this movie was done very well it seemed to stick to the book better than the others however i thought cutting out the big fight scene when the death eaters got into the castle was a big mistake also the way snape told harry to be quiet was done all wrong too snape never said anything to him in the book just killed dumbledore and left. other than that failed portrayal of the book i thought this movie was very well done. changing how dumbledore helped harry get out of the place with those creepy things coming out of the water was pretty good. don't cute vital scenes from the book for a movie it ruins it for people that read and then get excited for the movie big let down. but it was a great movie over all.

This is, by far, the best Harry Potter movie yet. It didn't feel rushed, it didn't feel too slow, and the scenes that were cut did not detract from the final project. The kids have grown up and their acting has dramatically improved, which is a welcome change from the 4th and 5th movies that seemed melodramatic at best. Emma Watson, especially, has learned to act without using her eyebrows as much. I cannot stress enough that this movie - for the first time in HP history - does not feel rushed.

The maturity and responsibility level goes up, as in the books, and this is captured well. The teen romance is just right. The characters are more settled and real, not so theatrical and odd. The special effects are much better. The quidditch game is awesome.

Spent to much time on love story. voldemort wasn't even in the movie(only as a child) left out fight scene at the end. radcliffe's acting was just ok. He acted drunk when he took the luck potion thought that was wrong. I dont think I would be able to follow the movie unless I read the books. There were some funny parts n the movie but as a whole I was disappointed in the movie. I really hope they do better on the last two movies for the seventh book.

To be honest, I was looking forward to New Moon more than Harry Potter. Then I saw HP6 at one of the midnight premieres. This movie was FANTASTIC!!! I was a little worried at how it would turn out. There was plenty of comedy mixed with the more serious side and the combination had magnificent results. HP3 has always been my favorite, but now... this movie has definitely changed things. Probably the best one so far.

A lot of people are saying that when you review a movie you can't compare it to the book because the two are separate--sorry, but that's just not true. Having read the series, this movie was bit disappointing. I don't expect to go to a movie based on a book that is over 600 pages long and not have scenes missing...but to embellish the story, as if the director can tell the story better than the author? No thanks. The movie was still good. Certainly not the best, but it's Harry Potter and bound to be great no matter what. My advice to the director: leave it alone. You're working with stellar material already. I hope to be able to give five stars to the next installment.

I am a rabid HP fan and have been anticipating this movie for months. From the start, the pacing of the movie seemed slow. I thought maybe this was a smart move on the director's part, to build on the momentum. Instead, the movie remained slow, almost plodding, with long pauses between lines and scenes that seemed pointless or that failed to advance the story. I give it four stars nonetheless because it is an HP movie, but I hope the next two have the magic and crackling electricity of the last three.

Even though there were certain parts ommitted from the book (hello! funeral!) this film did not disappoint. Slughorn was a delight to watch and Ron was brilliant at being cool while not being cool. Harry was even Harrier and Ginny glows. Can't wait for the Hallows!

Having read the book I assumed that the movie would be sad and a lot of the important facts would be like always messed up, but it was a great movie. This was by far one of the best Potter's yet. The director Yates did a fantastic job of condensing long portions of the book into easy to digest scenes. At the same time you don't feel as if you lost much from the experieince.
I would still recommend reading the books but this is the next best thing.

the greatest wizard of their time just stands their while they attack him the death eaters finally gain access to hogwarts and all they do is burn hagard's house and blow up some windows in the meeting hall? believability is what i look for in a movie, if you dont like bad writing, dont go to this one since when do wizards worry about houses burning down, in the beginning of the movie you see one refurbish one in its entirety with a flick of his wand as a matter of fact, how come dumbyhead didnt just clap his hands over his head and dissappear i hate it when authors have nothing interesting to say so they just put down words to fill up space in a book all fanatics should be led straight to the secret chamber of reality

The movie was good for what it was. Obviously the movie isn't going to be exactly like the book, but I would have liked to see the the fight in the end where everyone goes at it in the astronomy tower. It would have given the movie a bit more "punch". The humor however, was great and I was glad to see the more mature interaction been all of the other characters. Overall, good movie and I can't wait for the next two!

I really enjoyed this movie. Yes they did leave parts of the book out and added some that wasnt in the book, but thats to be expected. As the series moves along, you get to see the "darker" side of the series. Its no longer about levitating feathers and fighting dragons. For anyone who hasnt read the books, you should, because you will probably get lost with whats about to happen. I would definately recommend this movie to others

it is not a great Harry Potter movie. I really try to separate HP books from the movies, but I am confused how they are going to do the two 7th book movies well. There were important parts of the book removed to be replaced with scenes that made zero sense. That being said, the colors were beautiful, the soundtrack wonderful, casting and acting great. Should be interesting to see how they do with the 7th book.

I thought this was a great adaptation, and I think the actors did a wonderful job. Daniel Radcliffe has really matured and I thought he did a wonderful job conveying Harry Potter's character. I thought the screenplay did a good job of hitting the important elements of the book. I went with someone who hasn't read the recent books, and she wasn't confused. The only scene I didn't like was the major scene which wasn't in the book (the Christmas day scene) Otherwise, I really enjoyed it. Definitely worth seeing.
