GOBLET OF FIRE was my least favorite POTTER movie. HALF-BLOOD PRINCE is my new least favorite. The movie did follow the book; however, the sequence of events was very choppy. Everything was too gloomy at times. The only bit of action that took place was in the very beginning. Worst of all was all the romantic controversy going between HARRY, RON, and HERMIONE. A much better job could have been done. It certainly was not the "BEST POTTER FILM YET!". There is one more to come and I hope that it is outstanding. Especially since it is supposed to be two parts. Better luck next time. Just seriously step your game up.

I thought that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was as overall great movie. A good blend between the seriousness of a world in fear of Voldemort and his deatheaters and the comedic aspects of Hogwarts school life and teenage romance. The movie moved a little too quickly for me at some parts but overall I enjoyed it.

I am a Harry Potter fanatic that went to the midnight opening showing dressed fully, with bright orange wig, as Ron. I adore the books, and the one thing I realized was that you cannot go to see the movie expecting to see the way things happened in the books. The movie was even darker than the fifth one, and the ending was too compressed, but they did a brilliant job reworking some of the events. The movie was funny, tasteful, and of course had amazing effects. I thought they could've included a lot more detail easily, but this was a truly great movie.

The adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for the big screen was seemingly focused on attracting teenage girls as its target audience. Such was the persistent return, scene after scene, to the teen angst subplot, that at times seemed to become the main story. The movie was beautifully done otherwise, but suffered from either poor editing, or a bad screenplay. I suggest this version of Potter would have been more aptly named Harry Potter and the Teen Angst Trio.

I thought the movie was very well done, with good performances all around. However if you are purist when it comes to the HP books a few segments will surely leave you disapointed. The Harry/Ginny first kiss and a completely invented attack on the Burrow are especially irksome. Continuity issues aside, it's still a good movie and worth your time and money if you are a fan of the series.

Since I read the book I cannot give an unbiased review on how the film stands on its own. This installment had less of the bombast of the previous films, which I appreciated. It did not feel rushed and the characters actually had dialogue, as opposed to having their lines only delineate the plot. It is not Melrose Place with owls, as one jughead "professional" critic opined. I thought the youth romance was handled deftly, without cynicism or treacle. I was looking forward to the moody desaturated cinematography as the same person worked on Amelie and A Very Long Engagement. I was not disappointed. I look forward to the next installment.

This gripping film, captivated me the whole two and a half hours. Although I felt a few things from the book that were key got left out of the screenplay, I realize only so much can go into the final film. The scene with Harry and Dumbledore trying to retrieve the locket horcrux was excellent, I think worthy of an Oscar nomination. We are excited to purchase this on DVD when the time comes. And even more excited to see the next two films.

I really enjoyed this movie! The books are always better and the movie can only cover so much in 2 1/2 hours. There were some good action sequences as well as some cool effects. The story was not overshadowed by the action. It's been years since I read the book, but remembered things as I watched the movie since so many parts of the movie remained very true to the book. At 2 hours in I did look at the clock to see how much longer it would be, but that was more a result of sitting for too long than disinterest in the film. I was surprised there wasn't more about Snape being the DADA teacher. I thought it had a big story line in the book, but it only got a mention in the movie.

The movie was a let down in many areas. Naturally, one walks away wondering why the fight scene at the end of the book was not inlcuded. This movie was very entertaining. I took 6 boys with me to see it and we all enjoyed it. I do think that the kissing and caressing between the different characters went on a bit too much. I could have done with a little less of that and more real action related to the book. I don't think I needed to read this particular book by Rowling to enjoy the movie. My youngest (10 years old) is not a HP fan, and he said he thought it was "okay". As I watched his face during the film and he appeared totally entranced!

I am a huge HP fan, and a devoted reader of the books. Through the first 2 hours of the movie, I was enthralled, and couldn't believe how well the movie was sticking to the book. Some of the scenes were exactly as I pictured them when reading. However, the last 30 minutes were completely disappointing and almost ruined the whole experience. The writers stuck so closely to the book for some of the less important scenes, but then left out 2 key scenes that tie the whole movie up. The movie version does Harry no justice, making him look like a weak wall flower instead of the devoted fighter he becomes in the book. Still, its worth seeing. I just hope they do a better job in the 7th and 8th movies.

This movie has everything for Potter fans and moviegoers in general. It's infused with comedy and, of course, tragedy. It's nice to see the young actors get to showcase broader acting skills. As I figured it was a lot darker/ emotional and lot that childhood feel was almost gone but still was the biggest must see of the year and left me wanting more.

I love harry potter and was so excited about going to see this movie. But I left feeling rather disappointed. I felt like if you had not read the book it would be hard to follow and understand. I also felt like the "love" sequences were over done and where some of the storyline strayed from the book, they would have done better to stick with the book. It was a little slow as well and I have never gotten bored with a Harry Potter movie. Even watching the Order of the Phoenix twice in one day. Ending was disappointing too.
