This is part 6 of an 8 movie series. It's an amazing adaption of an incredibly long, complicated book and it does an amazing job of capturing the story, sub plots and character development within a 2.5 hour movie format. It definitely displays the best acting of all the movies and provides the audience with reasons to feel for and love these characters again. I think it does stand on it's own as long as you can enjoy it as a story and not want to know more (although, isn't that the sign that this is an amazing series... that you do want to understand more of the whys and hows behind what you see on the screen?) Highly recommend to all ages!

I've never read any of the books. Really liked the 1st 4 movies. This one was bad. Very hard to follow. Also hard to understand what people were saying. Not enough interaction between the three main characters, mainly about Harry. I wouldn't recommend anyone going to the movie theater for 2 1/2 hrs for this one; dvd will be good enough. Husband slept thru a good portion and I almost nodded off myself.

As an avid Harry Potter book reader, I was so disappointed! Lots of love and romance, but it didn't follow the book at all! The book was mostly about Voldemort and how Harry was going to destroy him...we got a condensed version of it, that left people who didn't read the book totally confused. Someone actually asked me if Snape was Voldemort's son! That was how confusing it was. Big scenes were cut out, big scenes were made up and put in and about 3 seconds explaining who the heck the Half-Blood Prince was. I REALLY hope they redeem themselves with the 7th book movies, because this one was a piece of junk.

I enjoyed the movie. I understand that the movies are always going to be different from the books, but there were a lot of differences. I will not get into detail. The ending in the book was extremely significant. I think that the writers and director should have acknowledged and written the major ending (i.e. the funeral and fight within the school) into the movie. Overall, I enjoyed the movie. I just wish it would have been a little more accurate about the book and not focused so much on the love stories.

This was a good movie but it was nothing like the book and for people who haven't read the book or the previous ones it was out of context. Since our family are huge Harry Potter fans we liked it. I read another reviewer that said that a movie should be able to stand on its own? I have no clue what he is talking about when the books don't either. This was an Excellent next installment. Lots of action, tension, and little love and laughter. I Never judge a movie by the book, and I love the books and the movies. I re-watched all five movies before going to see #6 and they did such a wonderful job. I would give this two thumbs up. !!

My son and I liked this movie, although of course it wasn't nearly as good as the book. I missed that they chose not to have the big battle at the castle at the end. I feel as some others did, that it was setting us all up for the last two movies. I feel it was good to have the plot set up like that, though. The movie was put together very well, but there were several key things from the book that were left out and should have been in the movie. Tom Felton (Malfoy) was really good in this movie, and it's amazing to watch what good actors these kids have become since the first movie.

If you haven't read the book, don't even see the movie. It'll be near incomprehensible.
If you've read the book, well... you're probably going to see this anyways, but you may want to just wait or see it cheap, cause it's got problems.
The movie is largely a whirlwind tour of snippets from the book - flash, Luna's in a lion hat, flash Fenrir (never referred to verbally by name or discussed), poof Tonks (ditto), etc. Don't expect substance, don't expect to feel Harry and Hermione's love problems, etc. One awkward moment of shoelace tying and then we're flashing to somewhere else.
There are good scenes, to be sure, but this was still the worst of the Potter movies.

I thought this was a great addition to the Harry Potter series. It stayed close to the book, which was in some ways a set up for the final story. From the opening scene I was disappointed! This was one of the most detailed books of the series and so many major parts were left out. Learning all about Voldemort and his beginnings are crucial to the story and it was briefly shown in the movie. The fact that Snape is the Half Blood Prince and why was also missing. The most disappointing to me was the lack of drama surrounding Dumbledore's death!! Come on! Not even a funeral scene?! The man played a critical role thus far. I felt the whole movie was scattered and rushed. I was expecting so much more. I would not recommend seeing the movie but rather read the book!

Not a bad movie considering that the book took forever and was just a cliffhanger. The movie left a lot out, was still very long, but the acting was good and the effects were decent. I found the movie to been very good. I was a bit surprised that Harry stood by while Albus was killed by Snape and never uttered a word to defend nor stop this from happening. I wished there had been more interaction with Draco with Harry as well as we've all gotten used to them mixing it up and of course where was Tom Riddle this time around, not a glimspe of him any where except in the coulds with the death eaters. Other then that and a few oops moments I noticed over all it was very good.

I had re-read all the books right before the last movie, and was mostly struck by how much was cut out or changed from the written story. This time I was able to just enjoy the movie for what it was, and found it very entertaining.

"This movie was good but for some reason this movie left me feeling a bit short."
I agree with this comment. It left me hanging at the end also. I found myself saying, "that is it." I guess I expected more.

El sábado tuve la oportunidad de llevar a mis dos hijos a ver la sexta película de Harry Poter, y debo de admitir que fue buena. Le doy cuatro estrellas, más sin embargo pienso que hubieron algunos huecos cinematográficos que me han dejado un poco perplejo. Pero, para ser una película de jóvenes y el haber pasado tiempo con mis hijos, la recomiendo.

This was a great movie to go see, as were all the other previous ones. This one however, lacked a lot of "magic" that is what the Potter series is all about. It was not a good as I thought it could have been.
