It would have been better if I had not read the book. The Director had too many deviations from the original text. Like Harry never drank all of the potion, and Harry was stunned by Dumbledore while at the entry to the main building. Dumbledore was killed by Snape at the entrance after a battle inside Hogwarts. At which time Hermione, Ginny and Ron took the balance of the Luck potion. Ron's parents house did not burn down in the book. These discrepancies detracted from what was a very good movie. However, a lot of good action scenes were not made and that was disappointing.

I reread the book before I went to see the movie. I shouldn't have done that. There were a lot of things missing in the movie and some things completely changed. I was disappointed that there were so many differences. Even the castle and Hagrid's hut looked different. You would think they would try to keep things in a series the same. I liked the movie. I thought it was good, but it really could have been better.

If I had only seen the Harry Potter movies and never read the book, I would say this movie was amazing and great! But as a bigger fan of the books, it was a huge disappointment. Some of the key scenes in the book were either drastically altered or not in the movie at all. I feel the movie was so focused on showing Harry, Ron, and Hermione "falling in love" rather than the true point of the story; becoming one step closer to destroying Voldemort. The huge battle at the end of the 6th book was taken out of the movie! Why? That would have been awesome to see! And they didn't really go into the hocruxes that much. And the ending? For me it was the biggest downer for any movie I have seen in recent months.

I was very excited to go see this movie as it is one of favorite books in the series. I however must say I was slightly disappointed. I have a hard time dealing with them adding things and then taking important parts out (i.e.t the burning of the burrow and the end not having the massive fight within the school (where Ron's brother is attacked by a Grayback). I am curious how this will impact the next movies. I thought they did a great job portraying Draco's character! I was impressed by much more then I was let down by!!! I did greatly enjoy the movie.

I have been waiting for this movie to come out in theaters since the end of last year. I have been a Harry Potter fan since the very beginning. I felt that this 6th installment of the Harry Potter series was absolutely awesome, I plan on seeing it several more times in the theaters and purchasing it once it is available on dvd. All the actors plus the director did a great job. I now can't wait until the final two movies arrive.

I was disappointed by the level of departure, with the book ... far more than in the past. I was also disappointed with the unnecessary focus on minor subplots. Did the Producer decide the audience could only take so much, and then pick subplots (some almost invented) easiest to exploit? Sving grace was the return of many original cast members and major plots/tie-ins. Else this might have come across as a near failure. What happened to the ending? The book ending was well establish beyond Dumbledore's death ... why wasn't the movie? Given the age of the actors, it should have been a natural and fitting ending! However, based on the movie's ending, I'd expect a try at another sequel. Don't !

Good movie, entertaining, good cinematography. Has the expected cliffhanger following along the book. Expect the Deathly Hallows will be worse as it being broken up into 2 files. A must see for any HP fan.

ok now im a big fan of the movies and books but i have to say they did a horrible job on this one.they left out way too much and changed to many parts from the book, it was like going to see a movie that was just based on the book. they left out too much of tom riddle's past like the cup and locket, his father and mothers family, and his job and disapperance after hogwarts. how can you be a fan of this book and enjoy the movie.

I am a HP fanatic. I've seen HBP twice and it's growing on me. I have issues with Steve Kloves and his screenplays of HP, this one being no exception. Some key things are missing or were changed. What is absurd is the burning of the Burrow. Time could have been better spent having DD take Harry on a couple more memories like in the book to show him a few more horcruxes. Tom Felton and Alan Rickman did great jobs in this movie as well as Dan Radcliffe. Excellent ride all the way through.

First off let me say that i've never read any of the books. I have although, seen all the movies and have loved all the movies and this movie is no exception. What i loved the most about this movie is how it let us look even further into the personal lives of our favorite characters. It made me personally love the characters even more. The only thing i didn't like about this movie is that there wasn't as much action as I was expecting. I thought that the action would increase every movie, and don't get me wrong there was def. action, just not a ton. Overall i liked the movie a lot and would see it again!

I thought this was the best film of the Harry Potter series. Even though there were many differences from the book, the movie is still entertaining and stays true to its spirit. Granted this is more of a family-friendly comedy with teenage hormones raging, there is still a lot of great action sequences and special effects. The events of this movie precede what will happen in Deathly Hallows Part I and Part II. I know the fans will want an explosive and grand finale and I believe David Yates and his team will bring it on! Definitely a must see!

Because I read the book, I expected a lot more! But it was funny, the relationships building with each characters is shown greatly and gotta love it. Thinking about it.. if they were to put the entire book into a movie.. we'd be in the theatres for a while.. but then again.. it'll be worth it seeing the book alive.

This movie didnt stay true to the book throughout the entire thing. It was semi interesting but it got confusing towards the end and if you are a huge fan of the book or series like i am i would suggest skipping this movie and just re read the book. Although the actors did a good job the script is what ultimately brought this movie down. If your bored to death and have nothing else better to do than you should go see this move to pass the time.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was even better than I expected! I am recommending it to all my friends and family and I expect to see it more than once on the big screen myself.
It's true that some important bits have been left out, but I expect that by splitting the 7th book into two movies, they'll make up for it.

I was truly excited to see this movie after seeing trailers for months. The movie was great until the very end. I was sadly disappointed that the movie did not to justice to the exciting end of the book. The humor in the movie was done well and I loved the way Draco's character was developed, but I felt a huge let down with the ending. It was as though the movie had run out of time and money and they put together a sloppy and quick ending. As disappointed as I was in Order of the Phoenix, at least the ending was incredible. I just hope that since time is not a factor in Deathly Hallows, it will be much better.

After a lackluster 5th installment, this was easily the best of the franchise to date and restored my faith that the books will be brought to life properly! Great acting, great directing, overall - a great movie!

Harry Potter movies tend to be a synopsis for those who have not read the books and an opportunity for HP fans to nit-pick details. This movie is confusing for both crowds - it leaves out important details and clues that will be important in the next two episodes, while taking a few too many liberties with the original plot to please the hard-core Potterites. All anyone said on the way home was "why?", "why?", "why?".
