I was so excited to see this movie after reading the book, but was quite disappointed. Huge portions of the book were simply discarded or glossed over, and other parts were changed unnecessarily - if the director was so worried about time, he should have made this book into two movies as well. this movie did not do justice to the book.

This was an excellent movie adaptation of the book.
Albeit history into Tom Riddle was deleted, the fact that Professor Albus Dumbledor was dying from the horcrux, and his funeral was omitted, I encourage all to see this movie as it stands on its own merit. An excellent movie adaptation of an excellent book.

Ron was protrayed so poorly in this version of the story, if you didn't know the history, you wouldn't be able to see why Hermione was attracted to Ron at all. Also this version played Genny up to be overly strong as in the made up scene of her hiding the book in the Room of Requirement. And, just after the added scene of the Burrow buring down, Harry acted shocked, but Ron didn't. He was all goo-goo eyed over Lavender Brown. His reaction needed to change to match the mood. And in the end scene, Hermione suddenly changed from mourning Dumbledore to joking about Harry and Genny. It's either bad acting or bad scripting. And why wasn't Ron standing beside them?

I thought the movie was good; a little slow at times. I wish they had elaborated on the Half-Blood Prince part of the book (which I did not read - shame on me). Very funny parts. My daughter enjoyed it which is really all that counts. Can't wait for the next movie!!

I thought they did a great job with the film. I typically don't enjoy the films because they tend to leave out essential information that makes it hard for those who don't read the books. However with this film I thought they did a great job of putting in as much as they could...knowing the time constraints of a film. The thing that bothered me was why the unnecessarily burned down the burrow (didn't happen in the book). That time could have been better spent showing the great battle between the DA and the Deatheaters at the end of the film. Also it was a really sobering time for everyone because people were disappearing and dying, yet they made it appear so jovial without giving a space for the harsh reality that voldemort is taking over.

The movie lacked lots of key points that set the foundation for the final film. They just glossed over the Horcruxes and that's the whole point of the final book! Instead of adding scenes that did not take place (that ridiculous scene with the fire was just over the top Hollywood) they should have made sure key scenes (i.e. Harry and Dumbledore visiting the Gaunts) were put in. Why burn down the Weasley's house? I guess Bill's wedding will be cut in the final movie. Never mind that's where the chaos unfolds in the final book. How about more attention to detail and less unnecessary special effects? J.K. Rowling provided enough action in the books that could/should be easily carried over into film with a budget as big as I'm sure HPs is.

I've been waiting so long for this movie to come out! It was definitely good; it was beautiful and the special effects were awesome. But I was completely disappointed in the way they told the story. I felt completely detatched from the movie. It seemed as if the actors read a few lines from the book and made up the rest as they went along. The script sucked! People who haven't read the book are going to be totally confused! So much detail was left out that it made no sense whatsoever! I'm a fan of the movies, this one was good, but Im not as impressed as i have been with the previous films.

I was quite disappointed. The 6th book was my favorite, and I have loved all the movies to date. I thought the acting (with a few exceptions) was wooden, and I did not like the plot changes from the book. Ginny is miscast, and Slughorn was also a real disappointment. I hope they get a new director for the 7th book movies.

Loving the series of books doesn't mean that a person will like the movie. But I certainly did. I know that they had to edit down pretty well and they did that very well. The relationships blossomed and the humor added in to lighten the very intense scenes hit the spot. The acting was wonderful compared to the imaturity they all had from the first movie till the last. I cried, I screamed when I know I shouldn't have (considering I read the book), and I laughed till I hurt my side. The best of the series so far, I would highly recommend going to see the sixth installment of the Harry Potter series. Enjoy!

My wife and I enjoyed the movie greatly. I like how the have able to keep the same characters and watched them grow up. Some things were a little confessing about the movie because I have not read this book but it made the movie more fun to watch because I didn't know what was going to happen next like when I read the other books. I like the affects can't wait for the last two movies to come out. I do recommend this movie may be buying the Blue-ray disk when it comes out.

I was so excited for this movie, and was really happy with how it turned out. It is a lot lighter than the previous one and still had the action. What happened to the rest of the story? The scene that should have been the climax of the movie was more of a whimper than a bang. I haven't read the books, so I can't make a comparison there. I have heard that there is something important left out of the film that was in the book, but I don't know. I thought this was a great way to spend a couple of hours in a dark, cool place on a very hot day in Phoenix (115). I thought Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Tom Felton put in great performances in this movie.
Special effects were top-notch, not overdone, the story line was tight and kept me guessing, and the cinematography was up to the standard we've come to expect with previous movies.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the movie. Went to a midnight premier and it was more than worth the sleep I missed. It didn't feel like it was 2 1/2 hours. Loved the humor in the film. i have read all the books and I think that due to time constraints, the movie hit on most of the pertinent points. If you come in with this movie first having not read any of the books then you may be a little confused and not understand the characters. Alan Rickman was awesome! He plays Severus Snape with such vileness, I love it!!!

If you've read the HP books and have half a brain, you will roll your eyes at this most recent HP film. What little action there is takes place between long, awkward "teen moments" of angst, social anxiety, and over-acting (see Lavender's character). What happened to the part of the story were the ENTIRE SCHOOL takes up arms against the Death Eaters? Where was the Order of the Phoenix? Come to think of it, where was the plot?
This sprawling 2.5 hour movie was an incredible let down, no doubt because I loved the last five movies so much, and I thought they'd only get better. But it seems the directors have traded in their allegiance to the original text for some contrived moments of heartfelt teen issues.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I enjoyed the newest Harry Potter movie. It was action packed and kept the story moving forward. It was a little less fun to watch, knowing the end of the series but that shouldn't detract anyone. I can't wait for the last two movies!

If you read the book then saw the movie you are probably feeling disappointed like me. I felt that the director cut out some of the darker parts of the movie and filled them with things that were a waste. For example you don't understand how Tom Riddle truly becomes Lord Voldermort without looking at his past. I just feel that this movie did not reflect the true spirit of the books like the past movies have. So if you see this movie it’s ok to take all aged children to see this movie since it is not as dark as it should be compared to the book.
