Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was excellent. I enjoyed it very much. I had read the book and knew what to expect, but seeing it really made it special. Special effects were done very well, some really made you jump a little.

The movies have come a long way since the first, which I also enjoyed despite the "little kid" feel it had. There is still a little bit of that, but the films are definitely getting more sophisticated and dark. It was beautifully made in terms of cinematography. As always, things get left out from the book, but the books are too long to fit everything, so I can forgive that. The movie kept my interest (even though I knew what was going to happen) and did not feel too long.

The latest Harry Potter installment feels like a four hour soap opera on adolescent angst and overwrought, predictable romantic entanglements with an occasional fireball, explosion or wispy death eater special effect thrown in to keep you from nodding off. My wife and I both managed to nod off anyway.

My son and I both enjoyed the movie version of the Harry Potter book. Although much was left out, I felt it left room for more movies for a book which i believe was too long with too many story lines - I would have enjoyed a sooner release of 1/2 book and then wait for the other half of the book. The movie was a little different than the book and that is because of time restraints. I think they added things in to sum up other important actions. This is by far the best Potter movie. we see the relationships to the battle. I think Dumbledore was amazing in his acting. It is just a briliant movie.

As an avid reader of the Harry Potter books, I was a bit disappointment that so much important information was left out. I was expecting to see more of Tom Riddle'slife and for those non book readers to understand Voldemort a bit more. Overall it was entertaining and it explains to the audience what steps Harry needs to do.

I knew it was good when I left the movie theater feeling I had been in there only 45min.'s to an hour and the movie was 2 1/2 hours long! We have two kids and to get out is hard.....We had a great dinner then went to this movie....Great movie and great date night.....Would recommend to my other couples looking for a worth it "babysitter" night out!

The very long book was expertly abridged to include the important points necessary for advancing the story line. The romance which could have been cloyingly sticky was not. There was evidence of deep feeling, but it was not given more screen time than the main theme of the fight against evil. The evil characters are increasingly evil. Dumbledore is portrayed as more of a moral, thoughtful intellectual rather than asa a quirky odddity. But of course, this is because Harry and company have matured and see adults as allies and equals rather than authority figures. Splitting the final book into two films will give scope for more of the details that we all love.

Unlike the book, the movie's ending was anticlimactic. The ending was rushed. I don't want to ruin the story for those who have not read the book and have not seen the movie. But let's just say- the "surprise and emotional" ending event in the book was completed in an unemotional, unshocking 20 minutes with very little action. Granted, I read the book awhile ago; however, I remember there being more fighting. Not my favorite movie of the series so far. I did go with someone who has not read the books and so all the movies. She happened to like this one best as she liked the surrounding events more interesting.

Whatever other Harry Potter "book fans" may say about this movie as it relates to the book is ok. I didn't read the book and as a movie this one was funny, entertaining, dark where it needed to be, scary, suspenseful, heartfelt, and every other feeling. The story line seemed to wander pointlessly. I have watched the previous ones with my kids and we were all well entertained by those but this one seemed to lack the magic that would have kept us on the edge of our seats. It's what I would call a "paycheck movie" where hollywood cheaply and quickly put something togeather to generate much needed cash for the cast and crew They missed a golden oppertunity to re create that magic.

This Harry Potter is mostly like the others except there is more. It had more comedy in it which was great. I laughed quite a bit during it and cried too. It had a lot of different things in it. Sadness, comedy, drama, action etc. It was one of my favorites so far. 2 surprising elements too. Anyways, I dont want to ruin it for the others. You have to see this movie. Its great.

I have not read the books, but this movie seemed like filler to me. Nothing really exciting, not much wizardry, couple of flying soccer matches. Mostly, the kids just growing up and getting antsy for each other. Worth the watch, if only to keep up. But you won't walk away dazzled and saying it was awesome.

The directing and everything is what you would expect from a Harry Potter movie, however the movie seemed to be just a prelude to the next one with no real plot of its own. A lot of details were left out that maybe should have been included and it was more of a 2 hour and 33 minute build up for the next one . While I can't wait for the next one...this one left a lot to be desired for me.

I very much enjoyed the latest HP movie. Even though it's over 2 1/2 hours, it went by quickly. Unfortunately, the books are so rich with details and back story, it would be impossible to fit everything into a movie. That being said, it would have been helpful to have more of the Tom Riddle back story in the movie. Also, the ending didn't have quite the impact in the movie as it did in the book, but that could be that I was prepared.

The movie left out a lot of material from the book and added scenes not in the book, but it was still pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. For taking one back to the world of wizards, this movie did not disappoint. It captured all of the atmosphere of Hogwarts. However, without reading the book the storyline would be hard to follow. I want to see it again in iMax 3D especially for the scenes where Harry views memories and the Quidditch match. :)

Big fan of the books and always enjoyed the movies. This was the best movie so far, I thought, but I don't understand why they had to take out important parts of the book (more about Voldemort's family) to add that random fight scene at the Burrow. Book readers know the Burrow plays an important role in the 7th book.

This movie screenplay is different from other previous screenplays. It has more drama and less (magical) action but does not loose its prime concentration of showing how good always wins against the evil. The stars are growing really fast and so are their character traits. Out and out entertaining and does not let down the expectations of a true harry potter fan.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a great movie (especially with the junk it's competing with this summer). But with a few minor improvements, better selections of scenes and a bit more of an epic score it could have been amazing.
As with all these movies, the movie is no where near as good as the books. But at the same time, you don't leave angry. You feel satisfied that this is a solid step towards the finale.
