I have read the book a couple of times and this movie skipped over some major plots and totally changed other scenes to fit into their own movie plots. If you're a true Harry Potter book fan, I would not pay to see this movie. The movie was a major let down in so many ways. The battles that happened in the book; DID NOT HAPPEN IN THE MOVIE!! How can they leave out such a crucial part of the book???? They totally did the book injustice; they could've done so much better. They kept skipping over many chapters and even putting chapters of the book in the wrong order as they saw fit. Be wary if you want to see it, You'll be criticisizing it the whole way through like I was. I really expected a better movie!

Graphics, scenes, and special effects are tremendous in this movie. The movie was not "right out of the book" and did not capture all of the key themed elements found in the book, however it allowed the viewer another personal perspective on the lives of the characters and story. By far the closest movie to the series of novels. Worth the money to see if you attend without preconceived expectations.

Great movie. As with other previous Harry Potter movies, there were subtle variations from the storyline in the book and some content left out that would have added to the movie, but overall a decent job! I will be going to see it in IMAX 3D as well. It shold be fun!

If you don't read the harry potter books, this was probably a great movie. It was entertaining but that's not what this movie should have been about. This movie is supposed to set Harry up to battle Lord Voldemort. Harry didn't even mention his destiny with the prophecy to Ron and Hermione, and Dumbledore didn't mention the other Horcruxes to Harry. I guess he'll just automatically know what they are in the 7th movie. If you're a true Harry Potter fan, I think we can agree this movie didn't follow the book and it was a big disappointment.

I have seen all the other movies and went with my 14-yr old daughter. I think the problem is that this particular book was the worst of the series so the source material lacked. This did not have a blockbuster feel and the whole relationship stuff was too kiddy. The visual presentation was great, but nothing different.

Over all the movie was extremely entertaining. Jim Broadbent as Professor Slughorn was truly fantastic and a great addition. Definitely enjoyed most of the movie but having just reread the book before I went was slightly dissappointed at a few things they changed and a couple of what I thought to be important parts just left out all together. Was it entertaining? Of course. Was I happy to see it? Absolutely. Was it true to the book? Sadly I would have to say no. :(

Another fantastic installment in the Harry Potter series! The romantic relationships between the students are hilarious and touching. A nice way to relieve some tension since the overall tone in this movie is very dark. Draco's character development is wonderful and the interaction between Harry and Draco is fantastic. This film was beautifully shot and brilliantly acted.

This sixth film does wonders for honoring the spirit of the book while keeping the movie audience entertained. The special effects are impressive as usual, particularly in the cave scene in the latter third of the film. Most of the actors were spot-on, as well. Michael Gambon redeems himself in the movie--departing from the gruff, angry character portrayed in the last few movies and bringing the film incarnation of Dumbledore back to the kindhearted, soft-spoken mentor from the books.
Overall, I believe the sixth movie is a resounding success for the franchise. It's definitely entertaining and fulfilling for the casual viewer.

I thought the movie was good...however if you have read the books its kind of dissapointing. There are alot of things that were left out that are important and alot of things that were changed from the book. For anyone who has read the book there will be some disappointing moments in the movie. That being said, the movie as it is was done well. There is a mix of tension and comic relief. In fact there is more humor in this movie than in any of the previous movies. The one area that was most disappointing was from the point where the death eaters entered Hogwarts. Harry was unrestrained and did nothing to aid Dumbledore.

There have been many problems with the previous HP movies (specifically, they tend to add a lot of bullcrap that never happened in the book and has no need to be in the movie). This one (with one exception) didn't do that very much. They had to leave out pieces, but (with one exception) they didn't leave out anything too significant. It may not have been ver batim to the book, but I'm quite sure that it did the most justice to the original of any of the other movies. Besides that, it was a genuinely good movie. Great comic relief, good special effects (the quiddich players don't look so much like video characters anymore) and the end provides good catharsis.

Overall I thought the movie was very good. The special effects and filming were awesome. However, there were some things that were added and deleated, as always, that gave a different twist on the book. There was no funeral, the Burrow caught on fire, Percy and the MOM never visited Christmas, there wasn't a fight with the Death Eaters at Hogwarts.... I did like the WONWON sceens and Slughorn. All-in-all a very good movie and I will see it again and again!

I really enjoyed this sixth installment of the Harry Potter films-- It had, really, everything a good movie should: action, romance, humor, pain, &c. While there were a few discrepancies between the film and the book, I (as a hardcore fan of the novels) was able to look past the small changes and thoroughly enjoy the movie. The acting has improved, the directing was great, it was a joy to watch, and the score was engaging. As soon as I walked out of the theater I was ready to go back in and watch it again!

I was thoroughly disappointed with the sixth installment of the Harry Potter film franchise. I would be interested in see an extended cut to watch the scenes that were cut out. The ending was so unfulfilling. There was no great battle, Harry just watched Dumbledore die. Also, I didn't feel sad when Dumbledore died. When I read the book I felt a lot of the emotion that Harry was feeling, but that didn't translate to the film.
I have enjoyed HP films before, especially the Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix, but this film wasn't as interesting, and moved at an odd pace.

While there were many scenes left out, it has to be expected (it is a 700 or 800-something page book!) I think they portrayed many aspects of the book very well in the short amount of time they had. I was especially impressed with the progression of draco's stress level, it was exactly how i pictured it when reading the book. Overall, I thought the movie was very good and it definitely makes me very excited for the split 7th movie.

I thought the movie followed the book better than most of the others. Though to be fair I purposefully did not reread the book before watching it because I knew I would critique it more. The actors are getting better as they get more experience. An all time low on the spell count, though, in the Half-Blood Prince. The chapter "Phoenix's Lament" was in the most part missing. They substituted characters, changed stories. Didn't explain what the Bezor was and how Harry knew how to use it. Didn't have the students fighting the Deatheaters with the luck potion. Didn't have Moaning Myrtle again. They should have made this movie in 2 parts to include more details from the book.

I love the potter movies, though i didn't read the books. But I'm sorry to say that this movie was not worth the wait. I DIDN'T LIVE UP TO THE HYPE!!!! Could have waited for it to hit the dollar movie theater. Story-line was ok at best and action was minimal at best. The last one was exponentially better than this one.

I was very impressed with the cinematography and directing. Both were quite excellent. However, as I've come to expect from the Harry Potter movies, is that they do not tell the whole story. Several details were left out, one major one being the fight scene (in the book) between Dumbledore's Army and the death eaters in the castle. There was nothing in the movie to suggest how the death eaters were removed from the castle. Not only was this opportunity for action abandoned, but I felt it left the plot hanging while assuming it had been concluded. Yuck. But overall, great adaptation and well designed.

As a movie alone it is fantastic. Each minute brought something to the screen that made the movie just fly by. Some of the acting was stiff and a few scenes could have been either more drawn out (the climax) or explained more (Inferi) for those who have NOT read the book.
Compared to the book, it jumped around a bit, left out things that they’ll have to explain in DH: Part 1 and, again, the climax. The ending is amazing, however, and worth the wait.
It IS immensely enjoyable, though. I can't think of any of the other films that made me laugh so much, nor can I remember jumping the way I did (or even screaming!) at a terrifying moment! All in all, if you're looking for a film that is going to entertain the family, this is the one.

Everything in this movie was extremely up to and beyond par. It was by far one of my favorite Harry Potter movies since the series started to make it's way to film.
The special effects have gone through a high upgrade for this film as well as the acting. I felt a lot more convinced with the emotions while the movie was going on.
My only gripe is the end that doesn't stay totally true to the book and that was something that I was looking forward to, but other wise it's a great movie that I know I'll end up seeing again.
