If you love Harry Potter, you will enjoy this movie for what it is: An epic adventure into a world of magic. Though, for all of you book thumpers out there, a few complaints might be waiting on the other end of your ticket. While filled with visually stunning scenes, the dialogue is thin. Conversations and backing events in the book made the character's actions make sense, but in this movie, important minutia has been removed, making the course of events flat and patchy. A few more sentences, especially between Dumbledore and Harry about the remaining Horcruxes and Voldemort's weaknesses, should have been added. It was a great film, but many things are missing: Including the conclusive fight between Deatheaters and the Order.
Enjoy.

I was very excited walking into the movie theater, because it's been awhile since i've read the books but i enjoyed them thoroughly. As soon as the movie started i remembered alot of what I liked. Although the movie was good, I was slightly disappointed with the amount of information the cinematographers left out or changed. It's understandable considering they were trying to cram a whole book into a little over 2 hours.
The way the movie was shot was amazing, and each of the characters and special effects maximized the viewing experience, and went along well with the parts of the book that they mirrored.
The books are always better than the movies, but I think that in this production they did a fairly good job with what they had.

It wasn't what I expected it to be. Well, I already knew the movie wouldn't follow the book exactly, but I was actually surprised about how many important things they left out that is vital for the next movie. They added scenes that were not in the book, but they should have just left those out and added scenes that were in the book. It had humor and all, but I expected a little more action, especially the battle at the castle, and a little less focus on the love triangles b/c those created awkward moments in the film, which made the movie seem really choppy.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The reviews talking up this film as "the best one yet!" are only your standard hyperbole for a long-running film series (think Star Trek). This film is definitely worth seeing, but as far as I'm concerned, Prisoner of Azkaban is still the best and hasn't yet been topped.
The film is subdued, but involving in its focus on the characters. The ending is rushed and is unacceptable to me, but the rest of the film is all right.

I have to say that this was one of my favorite Harry Potter movies to date! Even though there scenes left out and details that were skimmed over, which was inevitable, I loved the way the movie was constructed. The characters and the actors have matured and the movie reflects it. I was laughing and crying and cheering and screaming and just having a good time. I loved this movie!

I left the movies the same as I do every time I'm seeing the newest Harry Potter film for the first time... Frustrated. The movie was overall great, but there's certain parts that don't match up with the books. There were members of the group that hadn't read the books and were somewhat confused because it seemed to skip the first half of the book, or gloss over it. The effects and acting were brilliant and I was on the edge of my seat, even though I already knew the outcome. I would recommend this movie to anyone because of the great story and special effects. To Harry Potter fans, some parts will make you frustrated because they just gloss over some important parts of the book. Overall, great movie and great additions to the cast.

After 5 other movies, I have learned to separate myself from the book and enjoy it as just a movie experience. Although, some things can't help but disappoint slightly. Why add long scenes that are no where in the book, and leave out others that are just as exciting and more important? Other than that, I would say it is the best installment of the movies so far. I really enjoy what David Yates does as a director, and hope he continues to see this out to the end. Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe had some seriously hilarious moments, I was laughing out loud. It did seem to focus ALOT on all the relationship drama though, and I could have done with a little less of that and a little more of Voldemort's story and the Horcrux missions.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

As with all of the of the movies beyond the second there were many changes in the film version. Considering the size of these books it probably can't be helped. With that in mind it met expectations. Definitely worth a see.

Let me start out by saying, visually, it was beautiful.
I had just reread the book before going to see this movie so, it was fresh in my mind and I'm probably a bit biased. I knew there would be changes, but I don't see why it was necessary to change some of it! In fact, they added TWO scenes that weren't even in the book but left out some very important information or skimmed things that were prominent in the book.
Even during the movie, I thought to myself, " What if I hadn't read the books? Would I think this was a good movie? Would I get what was going on?" I still think the answer is NO.
I feel like I would have been pretty lost if I hadn't read the book first.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I've read all the books and YES some scenes were left out, but you have to expect that with a movie adaptation. You have to think of them as separate entities. There was much needed comic relief, after the darkness of the fifth film, that literally made me Laugh Out Loud. The acting was exceptional and the Cinematography was breathtaking. As for the battle that was left out, I am sure it will be made up for with the last stand at Hogwarts in the final film. I'm confident that they will work out any flukes that would interfere with the Deathly Hallows story line. So fans need to settle down and save their critiques till after the last installment.
AWESOME MOVIE!

I thought the director left out a lot of events from the book that I would like to see in the movie. My boy friend from a guys point of of view would have liked to see more action scenes I really thought the ending would have had more action. And it was disappointing that the main villain did not even make one physical apearance in the movie.
The good side of it was the comedy was very refreshing, the graphics were very well done, the beginning left off to the previous movies ending, and it introduced a lot of new characters. If you have read the books it will definitely not fill your appetite

The movie was overall good if you have not read the book. However, i just got done reading the book and was looking forward to many parts that just never came. What was supposed to be a fight at the end was an embarrassment to the book. What happened to Bill? People who have not read the book will never know. This movie will no doubt ruin the next one as well. Disappointed in how they fabricated things that happened out of thin air instead of simply staying with the book which they did a pretty good job in the past movies.

I was disappointed to not see Tonks, one of my FAV characters, rescue Harry on the train, drama between the Weasley family and Bill and Fleur's upcoming marriage, Harry and Ginny's desire for one another finally surfacing to the public, the battle scene between the students and deatheaters, and Dumbledore's funeral. I really hated the scene at the Weasely home where Harry chased after Bellatrix while his practically second family's house is burnt to the ground. What was the point of that scene!?!
On the bright side, I was thoroughly impressed with how Tom Felton portrayed Draco Malfoy's stress and urgency to fulfill his task. Kudos to you Mr. Felton.

As with the previous movies in comparison with their book countertparts, I found it lacking. Several factors just weren't portrayed correctly: "Spinner's End" was supposed to have been a remote location ... Tonks rescued Harry from the train and took him to Hogwarts, not Luna ... where was Moody? ... wasn't Minerva injured by the Deatheaters? ... anyways, you get the drift. I think all the books should have been done as 2 movies at 2.5 hours each. Maybe then more of the story could be fit in. What did make it to the movie was excellent ... the effects, the character portrayals, the comedy and the feel of it was spot on ... it just couldn't contain the whole picture.

This movie is phenomenal. The character interaction is much more real feeling and there are so many hilarious moments that go right along with the serious, well-directed ones. Yes, there are some changes from the book, and that is something that has upset me greatly in the previous movies. However, I don't think they'll have a problem putting in some of the things they left out in this movie since they'll be able to fit so much into the 2 halves of DH.
Definitely loved it and will be seeing it many more times!!

Dark indeed is this installment, but "Half-Blood Prince" enthralls as it takes the audience deeper into the menace Harry Potter and his friends face.
The movie feels a little choppy and rushed at first, and at times it can be hard to follow some of the nuances and subtext. Its brisk pace evens out soon, however, and serves to propel the plot nicely.
More than anything, this movie showcases how far the young protagonists Radcliffe, Grint and Watson have come as actors. Portraying Harry, Ron and Hermione on the cusp of adulthood, their performances ring true with every note. Especially good are James and Oliver Phelps as the Weasley twins and Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy.
Can't wait to see it again!

You still get deja vu as you watch a movie so many of us have already read well in advance.
Harry Potter 6: Half blood prince doesn't fail to deliver.
The build up to the end of the movie was done very well, and it was just as heart wrenching as it felt when most of us read it for the first time in the book the morning it was released. The film does justice to the trails and tribulations of Harry and all your favorite characters, and some unexpected characters get further development, deeper and more complex then many would have imagined. Everyone should see it.
