Obviously a bunch of stuff is left out, they can't make a 10 hour movie to include every single plot line from the book. Make your peace with that now or don't go and see the movies!
The movie looks great! It feels more like a real world than an imaginary one. The movie is also quite hilarious!
I do, however, hate the added scene with the attack on the Burrow. It was incredibly pointless other than to jam a little "action" into the story. I never really felt danger in the scene, and right after it they're back at Hogwarts saying, "Whew, that was close."
But all in all, this is my favorite so far, and I'll go back to see it again because even at 2 1/2 hours this movie flew by! I was shocked how fast it went.

SWEEEEEET!!! This movie was incredible! waiting for hours outside in the sweltering heat was well worth it! The movie was written amazingly... although, as with the last few HP movies, they have left out certain details from the books. But overall, it was incredible, the 2 hours and 45 min seemed to fly by with all of the action, drama, romance, and comedy coming at you from all angles! And for those fans out there, the shocker is still shocking, even when you know its coming. OVERALL, i give the movie 6 out of 5 stars, but it doesn't allow me to do that, so i guess 5 will suffice.

Well the movie starts off well but I feel the director lost it mid way. Continuity wasnt proper. Many changes from the book and many many things left out. Had high expectations from the movie but it did not live upto the standards set by the previous series.
I saw many very good reviews about the movie but in my opinion, this movie could have been much better. Did not understand the reasoning behind some of the changes introduced in the movie viz. dumbledore's death sequence, no fight with death eaters once they enter Hogwarts etc.
Overall - Good but not great! :(

I saw the 12:01 showing (of course) and I don't think disappointed is the right word for what I felt. Being such a big fan, plus the fact that HBP is my favorite book, I went into the movie knowin they would leave stuff out... but full chapters? Really?! And then they through in a totally made up scene (the burning of the Burrow) for really no reason except to build up the Harry/Ginny romance which was done so well in THE BOOK... I did like the movie and if I had never read the books I would have no complaints... but they did not explain the Horcruxes wll and they left out what I see as vital parts.

I really enjoyed this film and I am a diehard Harry Potter reader. In my opinion this movie was the best book-to-film adaptation of the Harry Potter series. Many things were changed to bring HBP to the screen. Just remember there are always changes, that's something we'll all simply have to accept. I must say that the acting was great this time around. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint really improved and Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman finally satisfied me. David Yates' directing also improved and he was able to balance both the light and the dark. The humor in this film was superb and much needed.

This movie is officially my favourite of the series. There were so many more elements to this movie than in the previous ones. I was surprised at the amount of comedy. There were so many points where the whole theater was laughing. There was also more drama & action than before. The actors have really grown along with their roles. As for newcomers, the girl who plays Lavender Brown was fantastic. I thought she played the part PERFECTLY. I saw this movie at midnight... it's now 5PM, not even 24 hours later and I'm already dying to see it again.

While gravely weary of another David Yates film, after the atrociously awkward and drifty production of the Order of the Phoenix, The Half Blood Prince was a pleasant surprise. Staying much more true to the book that its predecessor the film was laced with a perfect balance of comedy and intensity. However the deletion of crucial elements of the books plot still remained so it will be very interesting to see how Yates plans to fit it all together in the final two installments.

I thought It was a fantastic interpretation of the book and everything except for a few things were perfect. My favorite scene was when Harry drank the Liquid Luck and the comedy thereafter. It was brilliantly portrayed and wonderful to see Dan Radcliffe stretch his acting talents.
I just wish there was more someone's funeral that what was in the movie.

Well as everyone knows that the Movie did not follow the book very well, I agree that they should of had more Harry and Ginny Moments as others commented. I was sad to see that this movie had not much fighting in it!!!! My daughter and I totally enjoyed this film. It may not have been exactly like the book but was well done. The director, David Yates, did a much better job with this film than the last film, "The Order of the Phoenix." The film has comedy and just the right amount of raging teen hormones. (I wish more movies could do this!) The special effects were also stunning. Brilliant!

I am under no illusion that it is possible to fit 600 pgs into a 2.5hr movie. What I don't get is why so many liberties are taken with the story. Do NOT take out information that is pertinent & add scenes that not only never occur in the book but add nothing to move the story along. If Bellatrix & Greyback could easily find The Burrow, why didn't Voldemort just go himself & kill them all & be done with it? The acting=horrendous! I started these books as an 8th grader and feel like I have grown up with them. These movies have sullied a big chunk of my childhood.

I liked the movie, but as usual they had to leave so much from the book out that it was lacking a lot. It seemed like the movie focused more on all the budding love interests than the true heart of the movie. When the movie was first rumored in production, there was talk of splitting it in two to get everything in and I feel they should have stuck with that plan. I hear now they are splitting the last movie into two parts, so we will see if that one does the book more justice.

for me, it was the special effects that really made the movie so thrilling. I can only imagine how creative you have to be to figure out how to capture he imagination of Ms. Rowling.
What was odd, was everytime something semi-romantic happened, the crowd would laugh or chuckle. lol
Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) was classic, such a fun character and natural actor.
I had forgotton what happened in the book, so the movie was more entertaining for me. Sometimes not knowing or partially knowing adds to the suspense.

The Director dropped ball on the ending. Explain how the Death Eaters can just walk around Hogwarts and destory everything without having to fight anyone? He really didn't take the time to explain the Horcruxes, but we did get half of a movie with "Won-Won."

Yes, there are elements from the book that I miss, but all in all, Steve Kloves did an excellent job adapting this 600+ page book to the big screen- David Yates did an amazing job directing- it flowed very well. I loved the humor and the foreshadowing of things to come. The photography was beautiful- especially the quiddich match and the death eaters in London. We are so comfortable with these characters now, and you can sense it on screen. Definately a must see this summer!

I understand that it is a challenge to scale down the extensive book content to make a cohesive movie (and it's nearly impossible to make a book fan truly happy). Given this, I felt they included the key plot points. Overall they did a good job and I really enjoyed the movie. My only real complaint is the ending. I was disappointed that it wasn't as climactic as it could have been. I don’t understand why they didn't include the big fight scene. Also, I didn't feel the extent of Harry's sadness and anger. Perhaps, this was partly due to a blah fight scene and the lack of build up at the end. It almost seemed like they got to the end and had to cut out a bunch to finish in time.

If you follow the books like I do, then the beginning is a little rough, however, it very quickly picks up, and does a very good job following the book. Excellent movie, I think the best of the series thus far.

You may be disappointed by the omitted scenes, as well as the abbreviated pace of the movie, if you have read the book. The scene with the Prime Minister is gone. The scene at the Dursley's with Dumbledore is gone. The scene at the house of Gaunt is gone, and so are several other scenes with the pensieve. Also, several scenes were modified. I'm less concerned with the modified scenes than I am the blatantly missing scenes. I may have given it 5 stars had I not read the book first.
With that said, the movie is still very good. I'd say it is arguably better than both the Order of the Phoenix and the Goblet of Fire. It moves along at a fast, action-packed pace, and the 2.5 hours goes by very quickly.

the movie was fine, dont listen to anyone who says it was the greatest movie ever or that it was the worst movie ever. It was purely an O.K. movie. I wanted to see more action and fighting, but there was a ton of drama and relationship issues. It stuck to the book really well, but it did not need all of this extra 40 minutes of 'i love him and not him, but he doesnt know... i am gonna go cry and get comforted and drag it out for a day or two with my other best friend'. There was high points, low points, and hysterical points (it was really funny in certain places). I recommend it, but not if you dont like drama.

Great special effects. dark, scary, parts were funny. However, did NOT closely follow the book. Many important parts leading to the climax and ultimately the conclusion were a HUGE let down. Spent way too much time on the love potions and not enough time on the battle between good vs evil that will lead into the sequels.

If you can take them for what they are MOVIES and not the books than you will love it! It is not completely accurate to the book but they still do a wonderful job! I thought that there was some element missing in this one that all the others had but I can not quit put my finger on it. Over all the movie was GREAT and I am going to go see it at least 2 more times!

I absolutely LOVED this movie! While it definitely added some things not from the book and left out a lot of stuff from the book, it was brilliantly written and all the actors have come so far! There was enough of the comedy to balance out the darkness of the topic and I felt like my friends and I have interacted in the same way Harry, Ron, and Hermione do in this film. I can't wait to go back and see it again and then own it on DVD myself!

I saw this movie at 12:01 and thought it was brilliant! It's not just fighting and drama it's also comedy! I was surprised how much comedy was in this movie! Also there is more love interest than their was in the last films. So if you are a fan of Harry Potter go see it, you won't regret it!

If you have read the books, as I have, than several elements in this movie were a let down. Lots of t hings were left out, and some things...such as the big kiss, were different than what was written in the book. If you haven't read the book, you will LOVE this movie!! It was a great movie, but it was not, in my opinion, the best in the series thus far.

One of the better Harry Potter movies. It wasn't better than the fifth movie and it is tied with the fourth in my opinion.
I think that the main characters portrayed relationships better than ever and managed to connect with one another on a whole new level.
I didn't like the fact that some major scenes weren't used that were in the book (Dumbledore's burial) and I also wasn't happy that a scene was added that never happened in the book (Bellatrix and Fenin burning down the Burrow)
However, with the combination of the witty humor, talented actors, great special effects, and action, I give the film 5 stars

We went to the Premeire last night at midnight and WOW! The graphics were amazing, and they followed the book I felt nicely. The acting was superb and it was funny in many spots. It was well workth staying up all night for! I give it a A+ review..........
