Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was not quite what I expected. If you are an avid HP book reader, you also would have been disappointed with how they portrayed the book. The movie itself was an okay movie to watch, yet they left some more interesting parts out of the final cut, and swap some information for what they wanted. The movie also left me with a lot of questions on how they will tie in the HBP with the DH clues. ( not present in the movie ) I would have to say that this movie has taken over as my least favorite of the series. Hopefully with WB making the Deathly Hallows into 2 seperate movies, they will be able to include a more accurate portrayal of the events and lead ins of the book.

I have been looking forward to the Half Blood Prince for a long time, and it did NOT disappoint! They story followed the book quite nicely, with a few surprises, and did a great job of capturing the book. This movies gets back to the original HP roots of the relationships between Harry, Ron, and Hermione, which the Order of the Phoenix skipped over. While I was (and am still) a bigger fan of the original Dumbledore than the current one, the Dumbledore in this film was much better than in the previous 3. He is once again lovable and much more in control. While this film is a bit scary for little ones in a few places (the lake with the infery for one was very scary, but it also was in the book), it gets an A+ from me.

The big problem with this series and this movie in particular is that they have to stick with their own continuity. The vision for the movies is already set out, and the directors should have followed the books. They made glaring errors and unnecessary additions which throws off the series. My problems with this movie stems from the events at Christmas. That was completely wrong. In the movie's world Ron and Ginny are still happy and in school. I do not think they would be after those events. That was where they lost me. There were small annoyances like Greyback not being that important, no new Minister of Magic, no Bill and Fleur, and Harry did not "manage" the Marauder's Map (+more). This is not the movie for you if you love the books.

i enjoyed this movie, but also noticed the holes in its plot. Actually, till the end, there wasn't much of a plot. I think people should read the books before they watch the movies, so they can fill in the missing pieces. Effects where great, acting was good, kept my attention. Loved it! I've read the books more than I care to admit and wasn't put out when the movie strayed from it. Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint were allowed to step out of their usual character's mold - very entertaining to watch! The movie definitely flew by.
I don't recommend it for smaller children due to one scene with the Inferi and Dumbledore's death. Overall one of the better HP flicks!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was an amazing movie. The special effects were some of the best if not the best I've ever seen. It had stunning colors and fantastic music selections that really added to the movie. The only problem I had was that I don't think the director followed the book as much as he possibly could have. For those who say that following the book would make it a five hour movie, I say that you should have noticed the improvising that was done to the storyline. I believe that instead of adding new details, the director could have stuck with more of the real details from the book. Overall, it was one of the best movies I've ever seen!!!

I loved the movie, I'm a big Harry Potter fan and have been waiting for this movie to be released. I thought that it was funny and this may atract younger viewers and if they are not yet readers hope they get interested enought to read book 7. The Book is by one the Best,The Half Blood Prince is the key part which tells the story of Voldemort. I have to say that I was skeptical about how the Half-Blood Prince would turn out, considering I was a little upset about Order of the Phoenix, but I was pleasantly surprised! I think the storyline was followed better this time around, although there were some things left out or changed, but for the most part, the movie was accurate. I really liked that they focused on the fact that Harry, Hermione, and Ron are, first and foremost, teenagers. There was darkness, there was love, and there were a lot of funny parts...and I even found myself sniffling at the end, even though I knew what was coming. I was pretty impressed with Half-Blood Prince and would recommend anyone see it.

BikerBoy's wife says: All four of us really enjoyed the movie! My husband, 10 year old daughter, mother and I are all huge fans of the Harry Potter book series. We have been disappointed with a couple of the movies but, The Half-Blood Prince delivers thrills, chills and laughs. It hits all the main plot lines and touches on the minor ones without confusing those who have not read the books. This movie was wonderful. The visual graphics were awesome. The characters have developed and the acting was supurb. I expected content to be omitted. I think the way they handled the rememberance was excellent considering they had to eliminate the funeral. Omitting the fight or at least the inference that there was a major battle after the death scene was dissappointing. Should have skipped the great hall table running scene and thrown in a couple of short fights. I will see this again and I will own it when it is available. Well done.

The main thing that disappointed me about this movie was the removal of the final battle scene. That scene really tied the whole book together. Students and teachers and Order all fighting together against the forces of evil. I find it hard to believe that after Bellatrix destroyed the Great Hall no one woke up and defended the castle. The whole ending of the movie just fizzled out. Harry is left alone with Hermione and Ron, with a looming task ahead of him and almost no support from anyone else. It really sucked out the moral of this particular book. .

HP3 had long reigned as my favorite of the films released so far but it may just have had its position usurped.
The effects in this film were the best so far. The Millennium Bridge destruction at the beginning was fantastic, just like real bridges collapsing and documented on youtube!
I would give HP6 4.75 stars as there were a few minor continuity blips. They will probably end up in the DVD special features.
I encourage anyone who is a fan of fantasy/action adventure flix to go see this movie on the big screen. It actually IS worth the crazy price of admission these days.

I think many people get overly critical of movies that are adaptations from the books. We all know that in order to get all the info from the book we'd be sitting in a theater for a good 6 hours. So let's just get that out of our heads. Overall, I thought the movie was great. It had comedy, action, characters showing a different side (Draco- Tom Felton did a great job i believe) and most importantly, entertainment. There were parts that I thought were a tad bit rushed in order to get to the next scene or so, but in all honesty, those scenes didn't really need to dragged on anyways. I was thoroughly pleased with the movie. Great job! Can't wait for the next 2!!

It was an excellent movie however some things were added or removed that disapointed me since they were not in the books i read as a kid.. Allot of minor things were left out but that's alright since they were irellivent to the story.

Probably the best comment I can make that really tells just how good this movie is is that the theater audience was very quiet, no whispering, no talking ... everyone was enthralled. The is more humor is HBP. And it is refreshing against the darkness of what is happening. We see the more human side of the three stars and the little kids have grown up.

While the practicalities of cutting down a huge book into a 2.5 hr movie call for the trimming of fat, I'm sure they trimmed some of the precious lean muscle matter as well. Albeit, leaving a good skeleton of the original story still leaves a great story - and the movie (as far as movie productions go) was truly fantastic.

Let me start by admitting that I am a big fan of the previous movies and have never read any of the books. So I am sure some will say I missed some of the subtle, inside story stuff but, I really was waiting for something substantial to happen and was let down. All this movie left me wondering was who the other Half Blood Prince was and maybe he was the Cool Half… I hope the next story finishes this story buildup. Not to impressed.

Although I was a little disappointed by the lack of action at the end and the addition of a scene that was not in the book at all, i still loved the movie. It was dark, gloomy and still had the same overall feel of the book. I loved the casting of Slughorn and Lavender. And the movie still gave me the chills and made me teary eyed at the end. I was not disappointed.
