My son, his friend and I saw the movie and we loved it. I was a little disappointed at the ending because I know Dumbledore was recruiting others including the giants to help with the battle. The rest of the movie was great! It showed main points. I was expecting it to be longer but probably not due to the ending. Overall I can't wait for it in 3D and the DVD comes out!!

I thought the acting was great and there were some funny moments which made be laugh out loud. However, too much information that was vital to the story was left out. And, instead they added some scenes that were not in the story. For example: They never show Harry at Pivet Drive. But, this is where Dumbledore explains to the Dursleys that Harry needs to come back before his 17th birthday. My advice - rent the movie instead.

Perhaps I was expecting too much out of the film since this was my favorite book in the series, but I found it shallow and well below my expectations. The character development was anorexic. One barely got to see the relationship Harry had with the Half Blood Prince via the text book in the film. While they did a mediocre job with Ron and Hermione’s relationship, they killed Harry and Ginny's as well as his relationship with Dumbledore. They have ruined the chances for the last two films to have much success without ignoring glaring inconsistencies in this one. Yet another example of a movie that only gets good reviews based on previous films in the series. If you’ve read the book, you can glean some enjoyment. If not, skip it.

i was actually disappointed and very sad while leaving the movie, but that's because that's how i was supposed to feel, since the book was the same, in that it isn't a happy ending... but that means it was really good because it was just like the book. i felt exactly the way i did after reading it

While difficult to include an entire book in a limited amount of movie time, this movie came as close to reaching it as possible. Of course, it helps if you have read the books since there are big plot holes that won't make sense if you don't. The whole "who is the Half Blood Prince?" aspect seemed to go almost ignored through this movie, however, and that was a little surprising. The special effects were everything you could want them to be. See it on the biggest screen you can find. It's worth it. Did not disappoint.

it was so awful.
apart from clipping out major chunks of the story and replacing them with plot devices that didn't make sense, it felt like the actors were simply spewing their lines to reach the next scene. zero character development, almost no plot narrative.
and the ending was a joke. i was done the moment the weasley christmas vacation turned into "die hard".

This movie is good to see at least once. I personally love all the harry potter movies but this one felt a little slow, unfinished and overall disappointing compared to the others. Whenever there is a series of films there is always that one in film that feels like the "info film" ...the filler film. This movie was exactly that. Also, voldemort only appears in memories. He doesn't attack anyone in this film, in fact i dont remember seeing him at all except the young version in the memories. He didnt really seem like a great threat in this movie and I was hoping to see how he's evovled in any way. eh...wait until it comes out on dvd. Definitely needs to be seen for informational purposes.

I'm a huge fan of the HP books and movies and I was expecting more from this one. They couldn't put the entire book on the big screen, but they made the wrong choices in some cases. Example: scene at Hagrid's was much too long and not that important; final fight scene was completely eliminated. The movie did show a lot of character dev of Ron and Hermione, which was great - but that could have been distilled in favor of some of the more crucial plot elements that were eliminated. All in all, it's a fine companion piece to the book but doesn't stand on its own.

This film was terrific and was definitely one of my faves out of the 6 Harry Potter films. It was great to see how much Daniel, Rupert and Emma have grown particularily with their acting skills. This film really showed how talented they all are. I will also say that this film is probably less for children and more for young adults and older not because there is anything inappropriate but because there isn't anything cutsie in it as there was in previous films and the film itself is pretty dark (as it was written to be) with kids making out in hallways. There were differences between the film and the book (which I loved by the way) but the film was exceptionally done and I can't wait to buy it on DVD.

In my opinion, HP6 continues the upward trend in overall enjoyment of the film series.
The only complaint I have is with the sheer amount of stuff that must be cut out of the story to fit it into a 2:30 time slot. I would rather sit through a 3 hour long movie like Watchmen and see the story fleshed out.
Several people we went with have not read the books and were somewhat confused with the leaps that took place between certain scenes.
Overall, I got what I expected. And while I was disappointed by some of the unnecessary changes towards the latter half of the movie, they did a pretty good job keeping with the main themes of the book.

This movie was an utter disappointment. It was like a bunch of film students just starting out put a movie together for the first time. Plot lines were not developed well. Characters were poorly introduced and many of the action sequences did not move the movie forward at all. I love Harry Potter and watch the first 5 movies all the time, but I will not watch this one. I was like a little kid waiting to see her favorite movie star. Waiting for the movie to come out I had the countdown going since last year. But, for anyone who read the books, it was a little disappointing for the lack of detail in the movie. But then again, all movies tend to disappoint in that area. I was so incredibly excited to see this movie. Waiting since November. I re-read the book last week to be ready for all of the changes that the movie had in store. I had read that they were going to take out some of the key parts and I was afraid to actually witness them, but in reality it wasn't that much of a shock. I know people that won't enjoy it because of the changes but I'm not that picky. I will definitely recommend this for fans of any age. The only warning I have is to pay close attention at the beginning because, unless you read the book, you might get lost easily.

THE MOVIE WAS GREAT! There, I said it. Many people will p00-p00 parts of the movie, or the movie in whole, but I don't care what you think, this is about what I think. The acting is getting better as the movies go on. The kids have learned to be more "angsty teen" and "adult" at the same time. Draco Malfoy has really come into his own in that respect, but then he has always been a side character without many lines on the whole.
So, after all is said and done, I think this is the best movie so far in the series. I have a lot more on my blog, but this place wont let me link it.

Movie left you wanting more. If you paid attention you would know who holds what Harry is looking for. Even for those of us who didn't read the books, you could keep up. Enjoyed the movie and will see the next two.

I thought this movie was great. It followed the story until the ending, where it cut it out. I loved the effects, especially the cavern scene. I only gave it 4 stars because it changed the end. The battle scene where the school was destroyed was omitted. along with the funeral for Dumbledore. I was really looking forward to seeing the funeral, especially after the vivid descriptions in the book. Anyone who is a Harry fan should see this movie and make their judgement. Can't wait for the next movie.

I thought the movie was Great. The Best Harry Potter Yet. I've read the comments about the movie being disappointing. The movie hit the major parts to keep the story line going. They couldn't have touched every part in the book or we would have been in that theather for 4 more hours. The only thing i wished would have been done is the funeral for Dumbledore. Other than that the movie was very good.

The movie is two hours long, and my kids complained that it was "too short." I think that pretty much says it all. Sets, cinamatography and acting brought you right into the book. It was simply worth the wait.
